The Gorgon (ゴーゴン, Googon) class is a monster class exclusive to Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, in which they appear quite late into the game. Gorgons appear to be reptilian beings that can turn enemies to stone with the monster weapon Stone, causing the Stone condition. They use dark magic weapons that are exclusive to monsters, such as Stone or Shadowshot. Since they are monsters, they are an enemy-only class.

Gorgons are a challenging class to defeat. Since they always appear holding Stone, they can easily immobilize party members, although Stone has low accuracy. However, the Stone condition remains very dangerous; if both Eirika and Ephraim turn to stone the game registers this as a game over. They have quite high stats, and are on the same level as other "promoted" monsters, such as wights or gwyllgis.

A gorgon appears as the boss of Chapter 18.

The name "Gorgon" comes from the gorgons, a group of winged demons, including Medusa, a woman whose hair was made out of snakes; looking at these snakes would turn one into stone.[1]
