==Introduction==

''In order to get some information from the resistance forces about the bandits on the Western Isles, Roy and company moved west along the coastline. Along the way, they came across a small village caught in constant conflict between the resistance group and the landowner trying to get rid of them.''
In order to speak to the resistance force about the bandits on the Isles, Roy and company move west along the coastline. Along the way, they come across a small village caught in conflict. The local lord oppresses the resistance and does anything he can to get rid of them...

==Opening==

<u>'''''Chapter 10: Caught in the Middle'''''</u>
(At the castle)

(Inside the castle)
'''Zinque:''' Have you found that resistance bard yet?<br>
'''Soldier:''' We have a good lead, milord.<br>
'''Zinque:''' Out with it, then. Where is he?<br>
'''Soldier:''' He's apparently in hiding in the nearby village.<br>
'''Zinque:''' Removing Elffin the Bard will sever the head guiding the resistance force. Find him. Burn the village to the ground if you have to!<br>
'''Soldier:''' Yes, milord.

'''Zinc:''' Have you not found that bard of the resistance force?
(The soldier leaves)

'''Soldier:''' We are still searching for him, my lord.
'''Zinque:''' I apologize for the wait, Madam Melady.<br>
'''Melady:''' You seem to have... a full plate.<br>
'''Zinque:''' Oh, worry not, our obligations to Bern take priority over all. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask.<br>
'''Melady:''' Then let's get to the matter we discussed earlier...<br>
'''Zinque:''' Ah, the whereabouts of Princess Guinivere.<br>
'''Melady:''' Have you found anything, Lord Zinque?<br>
'''Zinque:''' I regret to say that I have not. Have you been to Juteaux?<br>
'''Melady:''' I have.<br>
'''Zinque:''' Then I suggest you pay a visit to Father Orlo. He resides in the castle at Eburacum to the north. He knows the region better than any of us, so he may have some idea. However, if even he does not know where Princess Guinivere might be, then she is most likely not in the Isles.<br>
'''Melady:''' Thank you. I will speak with Father Orlo then. Farewell.

'''Zinc:''' And?
(Melady leaves)

'''Soldier:''' It appears he has hidden himself in a village on the outskirts of the castle...
(At Roy's camp)

'''Zinc:''' The resistance group is just another band without that Elphin supporting them with his brains. I don't care what happens to the village, just find him!
'''Roy:''' The resistance is supposedly very active in this area.<br>
'''Merlinus:''' Yes, that's what our sources say. But I also hear that Etruria's military is hunting down members of the resistance. Their numbers have apparently dwindled.<br>
'''Roy:''' ...Etruria does nothing about bandits but oppresses the resistance? Something is very wrong with this picture...<br>
'''Merlinus:''' Indeed it is.<br>
'''Roy:''' Can we do anything to help the resistance?<br>
'''Merlinus:''' Our hands are tied... To do so would directly oppose Etruria's nobility. We are here under Etruria's orders, remember.<br>
'''Roy:''' I'll send a letter to General Cecilia and see what she has to say. Let's not do anything too rash just yet.<br>
'''Soldier:''' Lord Roy! Etrurian troops are attacking the village to find a member of the resistance force! They're under orders from Lord Zinque, the noble who controls this area.<br>
'''Merlinus:''' Oh no! ...But should we intervene?<br>
'''Roy:''' We haven't the time to await General Cecilia's reply... But I want to help the people. ...Even if it means opposing an Etrurian noble.<br>
'''Merlinus:''' Lord Roy...<br>
'''Roy:''' We fight! Our purpose is just! Make Lycia proud!

'''Soldier:''' Yes, my lord.
(The battle begins)

(Soldier leaves)
==In battle==

'''Zinc:''' Ah, I apologize for keeping you waiting, my lady.
===At the start of turn 1, enemy phase===

'''Milady:''' You seemed... busy.
(Melady and Galle fly in from the northeast and into the north)

'''Zinc:''' Oh no, we prioritize allying with Bern above all things. So if you need anything...
'''Galle:''' Were you able to ascertain Princess Guinivere's whereabouts?<br>
'''Melady:''' Unfortunately, no. But a bishop named Orlo in charge of the mines in the north may know.<br>
'''Galle:''' Very well. Then we head north.<br>
'''Melady:''' Galle... I'm sorry. King Zephiel wanted to keep the matter of Princess Guinivere a secret, so only I was assigned to search for her. I'm sorry to get you mixed up in this...<br>
'''Galle:''' Don't worry yourself.<br>
'''Melady:''' But you work directly under General Murdock. Surely you have other duties.<br>
'''Galle:''' General Murdock agreed to allow me to assist you. He thinks it's vital we find the princess and the Fire Emblem.<br>
'''Melady:''' ...Do you think Princess Guinivere has the Fire Emblem?<br>
'''Galle:''' That's what His Majesty the king thinks. And I think he's correct, all things considered.<br>
'''Melady:''' ......<br>
'''Galle:''' Come now, don't be like that... I'm sure Princess Guinivere went with good intentions. Let's hurry now.<br>
'''Melady:''' You're right...

'''Milady:''' Then, as I asked earlier...
(Melady and Galle leave the map through the northeast)

'''Zinc:''' Ah, the whereabouts of Princess Guinevere.
(In the northwest village)

'''Milady:''' Do you have any information, Lord Zinc?
'''Elffin:''' ...Where... am I...?<br>
'''Mary:''' Are you awake?<br>
'''Elffin:''' ...What... happened...?<br>
'''Mary:''' We found you lying at the entrance to the village, covered in wounds. We took you home and have been taking care of you.<br>
'''Elffin:''' Thank you... But you are...?<br>
'''Mary:''' My name is Mary. I live in this village.<br>
'''Elffin:''' ...You live here... Oh no! My very presence endangers this village... ...It may even be too late...<br>
'''Mary:''' I'm sorry?<br>
'''Elffin:''' I am Elffin... One of the resistance force. The lord here is sure to send troops in to capture me.<br>
'''Mary:''' The resistance force...<br>
'''Elffin:''' Lady Mary, you should leave here. The village is in danger.<br>
'''Mary:''' ...No, I will stay.<br>
'''Elffin:''' ...Why?<br>
'''Mary:''' I have a younger brother, but he left with his friend next door to find work. I'm taking care of his friend's sister. I can't abandon her.<br>
'''Elffin:''' I understand... The most I can do to protect this village is leave. I thank you again for tending to my wounds. Please take care.<br>
'''Mary:''' Yes, you too.

'''Zinc:''' I regret to say that I do not. You have already visited the capital at Djuto?
===At the start of turn 4, enemy phase===

'''Milady:''' Yes.
(At the castle)

'''Zinc:''' Then I suggest you pay a visit to Bishop Oro. He resides in the castle, overlooking Mt Ebrakhm to the north. He knows this region better than any of us, so I would believe he'd have some ideas. However, if even he does not know where Princess Guinevere is, then I would think she is not on these islands.
'''Zinque:''' What is going on out there? Why is it taking so long to find a single member of the resistance?!<br>
'''Soldier:''' It's the Lycian Army! They've joined the battle on behalf of the villagers...<br>
'''Zinque:''' The Lycian Army? They would betray Etruria?!<br>
'''Soldier:''' Also, milord, we have received a missive from Juteaux. The Lycian Army is suspected of working with the bandits. Lord Arcardo has given us orders to take them dead or alive.<br>
'''Zinque:''' The Lycian Army has ties with bandits? Hah! The irony! That fool only wants to save face...<br>
'''Soldier:''' Excuse me, milord?<br>
'''Zinque:''' This is not the mainland. The Isles are ruled by might.<br>
'''Soldier:''' I'm not quite sure I understand...<br>
'''Zinque:''' Pay it no mind. Was that all the message from Juteaux said?<br>
'''Soldier:''' There's more. Lord Arcardo has provided us with reinforcements.<br>
'''Zinque:''' What?!<br>
'''Soldier:''' They should arrive soon.<br>
'''Zinque:''' Confound it! We won't get credit for defeating Lycia if we're aided by reinforcements! We must wrap this up before they can join the fight... Ah, I've an idea! Get me Scollan!<br>
'''Soldier:''' Yes, milord.

'''Milady:''' I see. I will talk with Bishop Oro. Thank you for your time.
(The soldier leaves and Scollan appears)

(At the Lycian Army's side)
'''Scollan:''' You called, Lord Zinque?<br>
'''Zinque:''' Burn down the village. Kill any who resist.<br>
'''Scollan:''' ...Can we take the loot?<br>
'''Zinque:''' Do as you wish. Just do it quickly.<br>
'''Scollan:''' You can count on us, Lord Zinque. Heh heh heh...

'''Roy:''' The rebel group is supposed to be very active in these areas.
===At the start of turn 6, enemy phase===

'''Merlinus:''' Yes, according to our sources. But I also understand that earlier this week, the resistance group was hunted down by Etruria's military. I heard that they were devastated.
(Scollan and his bandits, including Gonzalez, arrive from the northwest)

'''Roy:''' ...The Etrurian government lets the bandits go and oppresses the resistance group who are trying to help the people. It doesn't look good...
'''Scollan:''' Gonzalez! Where are you, Gonzalez?!<br>

'''Gonzalez:''' Here... I here...<br>
'''Merlinus:''' No, it does not.
'''Scollan:''' There's a village to the south. With me so far?<br>

'''Gonzalez:''' With you so far.<br>
'''Roy:''' Could we do anything to help?
'''Scollan:''' Good. It might be a base for the resistance. Zinque says to burn it to the ground, village and all.<br>

'''Gonzalez:''' Village and all...<br>
'''Merlinus:''' That would be difficult... We would be going against Etruria's nobility. I don't think that would be a good idea when we are working under Etruria's orders.
'''Scollan:''' Good, you understand. Now get goin'! Don't screw this one up, you dimwit.<br>

'''Gonzalez:''' I... I...<br>
'''Roy:''' I'll send a messenger to General Cecilia and see what she has to say. We probably shouldn't do anything too risky right now, but...
'''Scollan:''' You got a problem? Does your head hurt from thinking too much?<br>

'''Gonzalez:''' N-no...
(A soldier appears)

'''Soldier:''' Master Roy! Lord Zinc who controls this area is sending out troops to attack the villages to find a member of the resistance forces!

'''Merlinus:''' What! ...Should we?

'''Roy:''' We don't have time to wait for General Cecilia's reply... But I want to help the people. ...Even if it means going against Etruria's orders.

'''Merlinus:''' Master Roy...

'''Roy:''' Let's fight! So we can be proud when we return to Lycia!

(Turn 1 begins)

(After Turn 1, a wyvern knight leaves the castle and joins another who is waiting in the mountains)

'''Galle:''' Well, were you able to find out where Princess Guinevere is?

'''Milady:''' No. But I heard a bishop named Oro in charge of the mines in the north might know.

'''Galle:''' All right, then let's head north.

'''Milady:''' Galle...I'm sorry. King Zephiel wanted to keep the case on Princess Guinevere in secrecy, so he only assigned my group to look for her. I'm sorry I got you mixed up into this...

'''Galle:''' You shouldn't worry yourself over things like that.

'''Milady:''' But you're one of the captains working directly under General Murdock.

'''Galle:''' General Murdock has agreed to my helping you out. In fact, he wants me to find out the location of the princess and the Fire Emblem.

'''Milady:''' ...Do you think that Princess Guinevere has the Fire Emblem?

'''Galle:''' Well, that's what the royalty thinks. And I think they're correct, looking at the situation.

'''Milady:''' ......

'''Galle:''' Come on, don't look like that... Probably, Princess Guinevere has a plan of some sort. Come, let's go.

'''Milady:''' Yes...

(The two wyvern knights leave the map)

(Before Turn 2 properly begins, in one of the northwestern villages)

'''Elphin:''' ...Where...am I...?

'''Mary:''' Are you awake?

'''Elphin:''' ...What...happened... to me...

'''Mary:''' We found you yesterday lying at the entrance of the village, all bruised and blood-spattered. So we brought you home and treated your wounds.

'''Elphin:''' And you are...?

'''Mary:''' I'm Mary. I live here.

'''Elphin:''' ...Live here...? No! This village will be endangered if I stay here... Or maybe it's too late if it's already been one day...

'''Mary:''' ?

'''Elphin:''' I am Elphin...one of the resistance group. The landowner is sure to send troops here to capture me.

'''Mary:''' The resistance group...

'''Elphin:''' Miss Mary, you should run from here. This village is in danger.

'''Mary:''' ...No, I will stay.

'''Elphin:''' ...Why?

'''Mary:''' I have a younger brother. Right now he's gone out to look for work with his friend from next door. His friend asked me to take care of his younger sister while they're gone.

'''Elphin:''' I see... Then all I can do to protect this village is to leave. Thank you very much for healing my wounds. ...Please take care.

'''Mary:''' Yes, you take care too...

(After Turn 4, in the castle)

'''Zinc:''' What is the matter? Why is taking so long to find one resistance group member?!

'''Soldier:''' The Lycia Alliance Army! They are fighting to protect the villagers...

'''Zinc:''' The Alliance Army? They would go against Etruria?!

'''Soldier:''' We have gotten a message from Djuto. It says, "The Lycia Alliance Army is suspected to be working with the bandits. Capture them, or kill them, if necessary."

'''Zinc:''' Oh? Tied in with the bandits? How ironic! So they want to kill them to save their own skins...

'''Soldier:''' What, sir?

'''Zinc:''' This is not the mainland. Might makes right here.

'''Soldier:''' I'm not quite sure I understand...

'''Zinc:''' Don't worry about it then. Is that all they said from Djuto?

'''Soldier:''' No. Lord Arcard has provided us with reinforcements.

'''Zinc:''' What!

'''Soldier:''' They should be arriving soon.

'''Zinc:''' Damn! Even if we defeat the Lycia Alliance Army, we will not get all the credit if we are aided by reinforcements! We need to do this quickly.. Ah, of course! Get Scollan!

'''Soldier:''' Yes sir.

(Soldier leaves and Scollan enters)

'''Scollan:''' Yeah? What can I do for you, Master Zinc?

'''Zinc:''' I want you to burn down all the villages in this area. Kill the villagers as well.

'''Scollan:''' ...What if there's treasure?

'''Zinc:''' Do with it as you wish. Just hurry.

'''Scollan:''' Got it, Master Zinc. Hehehehe...

(After Turn 6, near the northern mountains, four bandits appear)

'''Scollan:''' Gonzalez! Where's Gonzalez!

'''Gonzalez:''' Here... I here...

'''Scollan:''' There's a village to the south. You got that!

'''Gonzalez:''' Get it.

'''Scollan:''' That might be a hidden base for the resistance forces. Master Zinc says to burn it down, village and all.

'''Gonzalez:''' Village and all...

'''Scollan:''' Right. Now git! A stupid hulk like you only comes in use at times like this. You better not screw up.

'''Gonzalez:''' I... I...

'''Scollan:''' You got a problem?

'''Gonzalez:''' N-No...

(Gonzalez leaves)
(Gonzalez leaves)

'''Scollan:''' Heh, he looks like hell, but has that damn kind heart. He shouldn't be scared of busting up one tiny village. You guys, you got that too?
'''Scollan:''' Heh, he's ugly as sin, but he's got a heart of gold. There's nothin' wrong with tearin' down a few houses. Are we clear, wretches? No questions?<br>

'''Bandit:''' We got it, Boss!
'''Bandit:''' Sure thing, boss!

(After Turn 8, Klein, Thite and some soldiers appear from southwest)

'''Klein:''' So that's the Lycia Alliance Army...

'''Thite:''' They're supposed to be fighting against the bandits...

'''Klein:''' I know. But Lord Arcard says that they are fighting with the bandits to attack the villagers. Why are they doing the opposite of what they were told to do...

'''Thite:''' .....

'''Klein:''' Thite, can you take your troops and attack from the north? I'll start attacking from here.

'''Thite:''' Yes sir.

(Thite leaves)

'''Klein:''' Thite! Wait.

(Thite returns)

'''Thite:''' Yes?

'''Klein:''' I see that you have some siblings.
===At the start of turn 8, enemy phase===

'''Thite:''' Yes. I have two sisters; one older, one younger.
(Klein and his soldiers arrive from the southeast alongside Thea)

'''Klein:''' Are they all Pegasus Knights like yourself?
'''Klein:''' That's the Lycian Army...<br>
'''Thea:''' They were assigned to fight against the bandits...<br>
'''Klein:''' I know. But Lord Arcardo says they're allied with the bandits now. Why they're doing exactly the opposite of their assignment is beyond me...<br>
'''Thea:''' ......<br>
'''Klein:''' Thea, take your soldiers and attack from the north. I'll commence the attack from here.<br>
'''Thea:''' Yes, sir.<br>
'''Klein:''' Thea! Hold on.<br>
'''Thea:''' Yes, sir?<br>
'''Klein:''' I hear that you have siblings.<br>
'''Thea:''' Yes, sir, I have two sisters. One older, one younger.<br>
'''Klein:''' Are they pegasus knights like you?<br>
'''Thea:''' They are, actually. Why do you ask?<br>
'''Klein:''' I have a younger sister myself...<br>
'''Thea:''' Any sister of yours must be enchanting.<br>
'''Klein:''' Yes, she is a sight. I heard, however, she got tangled up in some mess and now she's missing...<br>
'''Thea:''' What? Oh my...<br>
'''Klein:''' I have some people looking into it, but they've yet to find anything. If I didn't have this mission, I would search for her myself...<br>
'''Thea:''' ......<br>
'''Klein:''' Thea, be careful out there. For your family's sake.<br>
'''Thea:''' Yes, sir. Thank you.

'''Thite:''' Yes. Why do you ask?
(Thea leaves the map through the southwest)

'''Klein:''' Well, actually, I have a younger sister myself...
'''Klein:''' Ready then? Let's move.<br>
'''Soldier:''' Sir, are you sure?<br>
'''Klein:''' Of what?<br>
'''Soldier:''' Lord Arcardo said Ilia's pegasus knights are expendable. They should be fighting on the front line, not us. Surely the lives of us Etrurian soldiers are more valuable.<br>
'''Klein:''' Don't be ridiculous. They are reliable companions. We will attack at the same time... or before them, if need be. Understood?<br>
'''Soldier:''' Yes, sir.<br>
'''Klein:''' ...Lord Arcardo's story is curious, though... The army from Lycia only arrived very recently. How could they create ties with the bandits so quickly...?

'''Thite:''' She must be very beautiful if she is your sister.
===At the start of turn 9, enemy phase===

'''Klein:''' Thank you. And yes, she is pretty. But I've heard she got tangled up in some mess and I don't know where she is now..
(At the castle)

'''Thite:''' What? Oh my..
'''Soldier:''' Lord Zinque, reinforcements from Juteaux should arrive shortly.<br>
'''Zinque:''' Blast! We have enough problems as it is... The last thing I need is reinforcements stealing the credit!

'''Klein:''' I've sent out some people to look but they haven't found her yet. If only I wasn't on this mission, I could go look myself..
===At the start of turn 10, enemy phase===

'''Thite:''' .....
(Thea and her pegasus knights arrive from the north)

'''Klein:''' Thite, take care of yourself. For your family's sake.
'''Thea:''' Are you ready? We move southward!<br>
'''Pegasus Knight:''' Captain... Are you sure we'll be all right?<br>
'''Thea:''' Is something wrong?<br>
'''Pegasus Knight:''' The Etrurian army considers us disposable. They may send us to our doom...<br>
'''Thea:''' Where did you hear that?<br>
'''Pegasus Knight:''' One of the other riders was told so by someone in the Etrurian army.<br>
'''Thea:''' Pay no mind to mere rumors.<br>
'''Pegasus Knight:''' But...<br>
'''Thea:''' I'm certain Commander Klein would never approve of that.<br>
'''Pegasus Knight:''' Do you really think so?<br>
'''Thea:''' Commander Klein's not like that. I trust him with my life.<br>
'''Pegasus Knight:''' ...Very well. Then we'll trust him as well, for we trust you, Captain.<br>
'''Thea:''' Good. Let's go!

'''Thite:''' Yes, thank you.
===Talk conversations===

(Thite leaves)
====Lilina talks to Gonzalez====

'''Klein:''' All right, let's go.

'''Soldier:''' Sir, are you sure?

'''Klein:''' About what?

'''Soldier:''' Lord Arcard said to leave most of the fighting up to Ilia's Pegasus Knights so that we, the Etrurian army, suffer the least casualties.

'''Klein:''' Don't be ridiculous, they are trustworthy companions. We will attack at the same time... or even before them. Understood?

'''Soldier:''' Yes sir.

(Soldier leaves)

'''Klein:''' ...Still, Lord Arcard's story is strange.. The army from Lycia just got here. ...Would they get tied in with the bandits so quickly...?

(After Turn 9, in the castle)

'''Soldier:''' Lord Zinc, the reinforcements from Djuto should be arriving shortly.

'''Zinc:''' Damn! We're having enough trouble as it is... I don't need any reinforcements to take all the credit!

(After Turn 10, a squad of pegasus knights arrive from the mountains)

'''Thite:''' Are you ready? We are going to move southward!

'''Soldier:''' Captain... Are you sure we'll be all right?

'''Thite:''' Why?

'''Soldier:''' Perhaps the Etrurian army means to use us up front as disposables..

'''Thite:''' Who says that?

'''Soldier:''' One of our group members heard rumors like that in the Etrurian army.

'''Thite:''' If you take rumors seriously all the time, you won't be able to do anything.

'''Soldier:''' But...

'''Thite:''' Besides, if that were true, General Klein wouldn't approve of it.

'''Soldier:''' Do you really think so?

'''Thite:''' General Klein's not like that. I trust him.

'''Soldier:''' ...Alright. Then we'll trust him as well, for we trust you, Captain.

'''Thite:''' Thanks. Let's go!

(After conquering the castle)

(A green unit appears at the castle gates)

'''Merlinus:''' Master Roy, there is a young man here to see you. He says he is a member of the resistance force.

'''Roy:''' Let him pass.

'''Elphin:''' Ah, so you are Roy? Pleased to meet you, my name is Elphin. I am a member of the resistance forces here.

'''Roy:''' I am Roy of the Lycia Alliance Army.

'''Elphin:''' My thanks for saving our village here.

'''Roy:''' No, we simply did what we thought was right.

'''Elphin:''' But now you have rebelled against Etruria. Certainly you had thought of that before you took action?

'''Roy:''' Even so, we did what we felt was right. Although this is a sign of rebellion against Etruria, if the truth about these islands is made public, they will understand. I have sent a letter to a trustworthy member of the Etrurian nobility. If she takes the appropiate measures, I think we can tip the tables in our favor.

'''Elphin:''' I would not be so sure of that...

'''Roy:''' What do you mean?

'''Elphin:''' Did you ever think it strange that Etruria sent you in to rid off the bandits?

'''Roy:''' Actually yes... of course.

'''Elphin:''' This is merely my theory... But I believe that the ones who requested your help are Adviser Roartz and Lord Arcard.

'''Roy:''' ... How do you know that?

'''Elphin:''' Why did those two have to get your army off the mainland? Could there be some kind of problem if you had stayed in Lycia?

'''Roy:''' Oh... I never thought of it from that perspective...

'''Elphin:''' There are rumors... that Roartz and Arcard are actually tied in with Bern.

'''Roy:''' What!? Then Lycia would be in danger!

'''Merlinus:''' M-Master Roy!

'''Elphin:''' Your country could be in peril. Are you sure you want to be wasting your time on a little island like this?

'''Merlinus:''' He's right! If Bern wanted us to get away from Lycia so they could invade, then we must go back at once...

'''Roy:''' ... I'm not going back.

'''Merlinus:''' What!? Why!?

'''Elphin:''' ......

'''Roy:''' Right now, it's very difficult to judge what information is true and what is false. In times like this, the worst thing to do is to jump to information presented in front of you and taking action based on it. Sure, I'm worried about Lycia, but my father is there, and General Cecilia is also watching over Lycia. But only our army is on these islands.

'''Merlinus:''' That's true, but...

'''Roy:''' If we just leave without fully clearing out the bandits, then what we did so far would all be a lie...

'''Elphin:''' ...I see you are blessed with a wise leader.

'''Roy:''' What?

'''Elphin:''' Master Roy, I am so sorry I tried you so.

'''Merlinus:''' Tried us!? So what you said was a lie!?

'''Elphin:''' I have not lied. But I did present the rumor in such a way that you would easily jump onto it. But Master Roy kept his head. I feel that I would like to join an individual like you. Master Roy, please count me among your ranks.

'''Roy:''' ...I don't like the idea that you were testing us, but if you're willing to help, then we'll welcome you.

'''Elphin:''' Then...

'''Roy:''' Yes, please fight alongside us. Well then, back to business. What can we do to help the people on these isles?

'''Elphin:''' Head south... towards Caldonia.

'''Roy:''' Why?

'''Elphin:''' Castle Idina is located there, where the people being sent to Mt. Ebrakhm are kept.

'''Roy:''' All right, then let's save those people first!

'''Elphin:''' Master Roy, please take this sword.

'''Roy:''' What is this?

'''Elphin:''' It is a sword called the Wyrmslayer. I hear it was created during the Scouring to use against Dragons.

'''Roy:''' Wyrmslayer? This isn't a Divine Weapon?

'''Elphin:''' No. The Divine Weapons can only be used by those who have skill equal to the Eight Heroes. But this weapon should be useable by people of this army as well.

(Wyrmslayer received!)

(If all houses were visited)

'''Mary:''' Are you this army's leader?

'''Roy:''' Yes.

'''Mary:''' I wanted to thank you for protecting our village.

'''Roy:''' No... I just did what I thought was right.

'''Mary:''' Please take this as a token of our gratitude.

(Hero Crest received!)

(If all of Klein's soldiers survived)

'''Soldier:''' General Klein, we will stay here and restructure the area, as you directed us.

'''Klein:''' Good.

'''Soldier:''' We wish we could fight alongside you. Oh, and here, here is the arrow that you had us keep. I will give it back to you. Farewell, and good luck, General Klein.

'''Klein:''' Thank you.

(Orion's Bolt received!)

(If all of Thite's soldiers survived)

'''Soldier:''' Captain! We will return to Ilia to make our report.

'''Thite:''' Thanks.

'''Soldier:''' Oh, and this... Your sister gave it to me before we left. Please be careful...

'''Thito:''' Thank you. You be careful too.

(Elysian Whip received!)

==Conversations==
===Lilina and Gonzalez===
'''Lilina:''' Excuse me!

'''Gonzalez:''' What are you! I'm an enemy!

'''Lilina:''' I'm sorry... But you had such a sad look in your eyes.

'''Gonzalez:''' ... There is village near mountain. You know?

'''Lilina:''' Yes, I know.

'''Gonzalez:''' Let the people escape. I take order, I destroy village. So...

'''Lilina:''' What? Don't! The people living in the village are innocent...

'''Gonzalez:''' No. I can't disobey order.

'''Lilina:''' Can't you leave the people who give you orders like that?

'''Gonzalez:''' Leave?

'''Lilina:''' I know! You should fight alongside us! We're protecting the villagers.

'''Gonzalez:''' ... No... I'm a monster... I can't be with other people... People throw stones... They say 'go away' to me... I'm a monster... Not human...

'''Lilina:''' No! Of course you're a human! You're also a kind hearted human. I can tell. Come with us. Don't be afraid.

'''Gonzalez:''' Me afraid? I'm not afraid! Everyone afraid of me. I'm not afraid!

'''Lilina:''' No. You are afraid. You're scared that people will throw stones at you, and they'll tell you to go away again.

'''Lilina:''' Excuse me!<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' W-what you doing?! I am enemy!<br>
'''Lilina:''' I know... But there's such a look of sorrow in your eyes.<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' ...There is village near mountain. You know?<br>
'''Lilina:''' Yes, I know it.<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' Tell people escape. I have order. Destroy village. I...<br>
'''Lilina:''' What? Don't! The villagers are innocent...<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' No. It order. I must.<br>
'''Lilina:''' It sounds to me like you should leave the person who gave you that order.<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' Leave?<br>
'''Lilina:''' Yes! You can fight with us. We're protecting the villagers.<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' ...No... I monster... People mean to me... People throw stones... People say, "Go away!"... "You a monster!"... Not human...<br>
'''Lilina:''' That's horrible! Of course you're human! You're a very kind-hearted man. I can tell. Please, come with us. Don't be afraid.<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' Me afraid? I never afraid! Everyone afraid of ME! I not afraid!<br>
'''Lilina:''' No. You ARE afraid. You're afraid that people will throw stones and call you a monster.<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' ......<br>
'''Lilina:''' But you don't have to be afraid of us. Everyone in our army is nice. They won't do that to you. Be brave... Take that first step, and you'll never have to be afraid again.<br>
'''Gonzalez:''' ......
'''Gonzalez:''' ......

'''Lilina:''' It's okay. The people in our army are nice people. They won't be mean to you. Come on... be brave. That ought to be the first step to live positively...
(Gonzalez joins the army)

===Roy and Klein===
'''Roy:''' Wait! Aren't you an Etrurian general? Why are you attacking us!?

'''Klein:''' I have specific orders from Lord Arcard to kill you.

'''Roy:''' He ordered you? Can't you see what's happening here? The people here are suffering from their landlord's abusive treatment! And you're helping him? You should be ashamed!

'''Klein:''' ...Wait. Did you say that you're helping the villagers?

'''Roy:''' Yes. The marquess here is ransacking the villages, saying he's searching for rebels. We're fighting to stop him. But you seem to be siding with him, so...

'''Klein:''' I have no such intention. I heard that you were the ones working with the bandits to do evil.

'''Roy:''' What!? Why would we be working with the bandits? We just want things cleaned up here so we can get back to Lycia!

'''Klein:''' ...Such mockery.

'''Roy:''' What!?

'''Klein:''' Lord Arcard is underestimating me. I am not dull enough not to notice who the real villains are.

'''Roy:''' ... Do you understand now?

'''Klein:''' I am Klein of the Reglay family of Etruria. Forgive us for attacking you.

'''Roy:''' ! Yes! I am General Roy of the Lycia Alliance Army.

'''Klein:''' General Roy, I would advise you to be cautious. Since you have turned your back on Lord Arcard, he would be sure to gather all of his henchmen on these isles in every attempt to kill you.

'''Roy:''' I see...

'''Klein:''' If you would allow it, I would like to join you.

'''Roy:''' Really!?

'''Klein:''' Yes. I wish to monitor your actions as an Etrurian general. I should prove useful as both a fighter and a diplomat.

'''Roy:''' Thank you.

===Clarine and Klein===
'''Clarine:''' Klein!

'''Klein:''' Clarine? You were safe? Thank goodness...

'''Clarine:''' I'm sorry I left without telling you. But I wanted to see you so badly!

'''Klein:''' The things you would do... Well, you're safe, and that's what matters. ...And what brings you out here? Did you find someone trustworthy to hire?

'''Clarine:''' No, I joined the Lycia Alliance Army and am fighting alongside them.

'''Klein:''' The Lycia Alliance Army?!

'''Clarine:''' Yes! My healing staves have been very useful!

'''Klein:''' ... I see. I thought your eyes looked... sharper.

'''Clarine:''' I'm now a lady, I am.

'''Klein:''' ...Let me ask you this. What kind of individual is General Roy?
====Shanna talks to Thea before Klein is recruited====

'''Clarine:''' Hmm... He lacks a little finesse for a noble... I especially think he has to take care of his hair a little more..
'''Shanna:''' Th-Thea! Sister!<br>
'''Thea:''' Shanna...?<br>
'''Shanna:''' What are you doing here?<br>
'''Thea:''' ...I have a contract with Commander Klein of Etruria. Shanna... Are you with the Lycian Army?<br>
'''Shanna:''' Yes.<br>
'''Thea:''' I see... Then this was inevitable. Draw your lance!<br>
'''Shanna:''' No... I don't want to fight you!<br>
'''Thea:''' ...Shanna, you know the code of the Ilian mercenaries.<br>
'''Shanna:''' ...Never betray your employer...<br>
'''Thea:''' Precisely. And we must follow that code, even if it means we must fight our own kin.<br>
'''Shanna:''' But... one of us could be killed!<br>
'''Thea:''' I know that! But we must fight! Failing to do so would damage the reputation of the Ilian mercenaries. Our nation can't afford to lose its mercenary contracts!<br>
'''Shanna:''' Thea...<br>
'''Thea:''' Now, draw your lance, Shanna!

'''Klein:''' ...Let me rephrase the question. Is General Roy working with the bandits and attacking the people here?
(Shanna leaves)

'''Clarine:''' No, of course not! We are here to defeat the bandits!
'''Thea:''' ...Why... Why does it have to be like this...?

'''Klein:''' I see...
====Shanna talks to Thea after Klein is recruited====

'''Clarine:''' The Etrurians here are evil and malicious people... It is so embarrassing. Klein... Are you working for them?
(If this is the first time she is talking to Thea)

'''Klein:''' No. At least not now, after I heard your story.
'''Shanna:''' T-Thea! Sister!<br>
'''Thea:''' Shanna...?<br>
'''Shanna:''' What are you doing here?<br>
'''Thea:''' ...I have a contract with Commander Klein of Etruria. Shanna... Are you with the Lycian Army?<br>
'''Shanna:''' Yes.<br>
'''Thea:''' I see... Then this was inevitable. Draw your lance!<br>
'''Shanna:''' No, Commander Klein said he would join us! We don't have to fight!<br>
'''Thea:''' What? Really?<br>
'''Shanna:''' Yes!<br>
'''Thea:''' ...That's a relief. I will join you as well.<br>
'''Shanna:''' Thanks, Sister!

'''Clarine:''' What?
(Thea and her soldiers become allied units)

'''Klein:''' I was sent here to protect the villagers. To fulfill my mission, I hereby join the Lycia Alliance Army.
(If this is the second time she is talking to Thea)

'''Clarine:''' Klein!
'''Shanna:''' Thea!<br>
'''Thea:''' Shanna... Are you prepared to fight?<br>
'''Shanna:''' No! We don't have to fight!<br>
'''Thea:''' Of course we do. Must I repeat myself{{nwh}}<br>
'''Shanna:''' Commander Klein said he would join us! We don't have to fight!<br>
'''Thea:''' What? Really...? You're... telling the truth?<br>
'''Shanna:''' Yes! To fight me would be breaking the code!<br>
'''Thea:''' ......<br>
'''Shanna:''' ...Thea?<br>
'''Thea:''' ...I'm so relieved...<br>
'''Shanna:''' Thea...<br>
'''Thea:''' Thank goodness... I was so scared...<br>
'''Shanna:''' We'll always be together, Sister...

'''Klein:''' Then let's go, shall we? Will you introduce me to General Roy?
(Thea joins the army and her soldiers become allied units)

'''Clarine:''' Of course! I love you, Klein.
====Clarine talks to Klein====

===Shanna and Thite===
'''Clarine:''' Klein!<br>
(Before recruiting Klein)
'''Klein:''' Clarine? You are safe!<br>
'''Clarine:''' I'm sorry I left like I did. But I wanted so badly to see you!<br>
'''Klein:''' Oh, the trouble you get into... Well, you're safe, and what's what matters. ...What brings you out here? Did you find a trustworthy mercenary for hire?<br>
'''Clarine:''' No, I joined the Lycian Army.<br>
'''Klein:''' The Lycian Army?!<br>
'''Clarine:''' Yes! My healing staves have been most useful!<br>
'''Klein:''' ...I see. I thought your eyes looked... sharper.<br>
'''Clarine:''' I'm a lady now, I am.<br>
'''Klein:''' ...Let me ask you this. What kind of individual is General Roy?<br>
'''Clarine:''' Hmm... He's a tad rough around the edges for a noble... His hair especially is an absolute mess...<br>
'''Klein:''' ...Let me rephrase that. Is General Roy working with the bandits?<br>
'''Clarine:''' No, of course not! We've been sent here to vanquish the bandits!<br>
'''Klein:''' So I heard...<br>
'''Clarine:''' The Etrurians here are malicious people... It is so embarrassing... Klein... Are you working for them?<br>
'''Klein:''' No. Not anymore.<br>
'''Clarine:''' What?<br>
'''Klein:''' I want sent here to protect the villagers. I hereby join the Lycian Army to fulfill my mission.<br>
'''Clarine:''' Thank you, Klein!<br>
'''Klein:''' Shall we, then? Will you introduce me to General Roy?<br>
'''Clarine:''' Naturally! I love you, Klein.

'''Shanna:''' B-Big Sister!
(Klein joins the army and his soldiers become allied units)

'''Thite:''' Shanna...?
====Roy talks to Klein====

'''Shanna:''' What are you doing here?
'''Roy:''' Wait! Aren't you an Etrurian commander? Why are you attacking us?!<br>
'''Klein:''' I have specific orders from Lord Arcardo to take you down.<br>
'''Roy:''' Can't you see what's happening here? The people are suffering from the lords' abusive treatment! And you're helping them. You should be ashamed!<br>
'''Klein:''' ...Wait. Are you saying that you're helping the villagers?<br>
'''Roy:''' Yes. The lord here is ransacking the village in search of the resistance. We're fighting to stop him. And you're apparently on his side.<br>
'''Klein:''' I had no such intention. My orders stated that you were the ones working with the bandits.<br>
'''Roy:''' What?! Why would we be working with bandits? We just want to clean things up here and get home to Lycia!<br>
'''Klein:''' ...Such nerve.<br>
'''Roy:''' What?!<br>
'''Klein:''' Lord Arcardo has made a fool of me. I have been so blind enough not to see through his thin veil of deceit.<br>
'''Roy:''' ...Do you see what we see now?<br>
'''Klein:''' I am Klein of House Reglay of Etruria. Forgive me for my misguided attack against you.<br>
'''Roy:''' I am General Roy of the Lycian Army.<br>
'''Klein:''' General Roy, I would advise you to be cautious. With you against Lord Arcardo, I expect him to use every pawn at his disposal to have you dealt with.<br>
'''Roy:''' Thank you for the advice...<br>
'''Klein:''' If you would allow it, I will join you.<br>
'''Roy:''' You will?<br>
'''Klein:''' Yes. I wish to monitor you as an Etrurian commander. I should prove useful as both a fighter and a diplomat.<br>
'''Roy:''' Thank you.

'''Thite:''' ...I have a contract with General Klein of Etruria. Shanna... Are you with the Alliance Army?
(Klein joins the army and his soldiers become allied units)

'''Shanna:''' Yeah.
====Klein talks to Thea====

'''Thite:''' I see... Then there's only thing to do. Draw your spear!
'''Klein:''' Thea!<br>
'''Thea:''' Commander Klein! What is the matter?<br>
'''Klein:''' There's been a change of plans. We are going to fight under General Roy of the Lycian Army.<br>
'''Thea:''' Understood, sir. We shall follow you without question.<br>
'''Klein:''' I don't mind a question here or there, to be frank.<br>
'''Thea:''' We are Ilian mercenaries, sir. We follow our employer's every order. And besides...<br>
'''Klein:''' Yes?<br>
'''Thea:''' I trust you to make proper judgments.<br>
'''Klein:''' Thank you, Thea.

'''Shanna:''' No, General Klein said he would join us! We don't have to fight!
(Thea joins the army and her soldiers become allied units)

'''Thite:''' What? Really?
===Houses/villages===

'''Shanna:''' Yeah.
====The southwestern village====

'''Thite:''' ...All right. I'll join you as well.
'''Middle-Aged Female Villager:''' I wonder how Mary's doing... Her brother and his friend are both traveling, trying to make money. It's too dangerous to go outside now... Can you go check on her? Here, I'll give you this for your trouble...

'''Shanna:''' Thanks, big sister!
(Barrier)

(Thite and her soldiers become NPCs)
====The western village====

(After recruiting Klein)
'''Middle-Aged Male Villager:''' Ah, our heroes! I thank you on behalf of the village. This is made from the scale of a dragon. It's said it will protect the one who uses it from harm. Please, take it.

===Klein and Thite===
(Dragonshield)
'''Klein:''' Thite!

'''Thite:''' General Klein! What is the matter?
====The left northwestern village====

'''Klein:''' I've made up my mind. We are going to fight alongside General Roy in the Lycia Alliance Army.
(If visited by someone other than Lot or Ward)

'''Thite:''' Understood, sir. Then we will, as well.
'''Mieu:''' Lot? ...Oh. I'm sorry... Take this.

'''Klein:''' Aren't you going to ask why?
(Elixir)

'''Thite:''' We are mercenaries. We follow our employer's every order. Besides...
(If visited by Lot)

'''Klein:''' Besides?
'''Mieu:''' Brother! You're home!<br>
'''Lot:''' Mieu! Have you been a good girl?<br>
'''Mieu:''' Yes, I was good! I didn't even wet my bed!<br>
'''Lot:''' That's my girl.<br>
'''Mieu:''' Lot... While you were away, Mother...<br>
'''Lot:''' Yeah, I know... She went to sleep...<br>
'''Mieu:''' Here... Mother left this for you. She said you might find a use for it.<br>
'''Lot:''' ......<br>
'''Mieu:''' Brother... You won't leave me, will you? You won't go to sleep like Mother...?<br>
'''Lot:''' Of course not! In fact, next time you see me I'll have a whole wagon of presents. Just listen to Mary and stay good, all right?<br>
'''Mieu:''' OK!<br>
'''Lot:''' Go hide in the hills with Mary. It's dangerous here.<br>
'''Mieu:''' I will... And Lot?<br>
'''Lot:''' Yeah?<br>
'''Mieu:''' You promised! Don't leave me!<br>
'''Lot:''' I won't...

'''Thite:''' I trust that you would not make the wrong judgments.
(Mieu leaves)

'''Klein:''' Thank you, Thite.
'''Lot:''' At least, I hope I won't...

===Wade and Mary===
(Speedwings)
'''Mary:''' Wade!

'''Wade:''' Sis! It's good to see you.
(If visited by Ward)

'''Mary:''' You've returned?
'''Mieu:''' It's Ward!<br>
'''Ward:''' Hey, Mieu! ...Come on, can't you call me UNCLE Ward?<br>
'''Mieu:''' But... you're just Ward.<br>
'''Ward:''' Ah, never mind. You look like you've gotten bigger.<br>
'''Mieu:''' Yeah!<br>
'''Ward:''' ...It's dangerous here. Go hide in the hills.<br>
'''Mieu:''' ...Alone?<br>
'''Ward:''' My sister's still here, right? She'll take you.<br>
'''Mieu:''' Yeah, Auntie Mary's here.<br>
'''Ward:''' So she's Auntie Mary but I'm just Ward, huh?<br>
'''Mieu:''' Oh. Here you go.<br>
'''Ward:''' What's this? A wing?<br>
'''Mieu:''' It'll make you like a bird!<br>
'''Ward:''' Like a bird? What's that mean?<br>
'''Mieu:''' Like a bird. You know.<br>
'''Ward:''' No, I don't know. But, uh, anyway, this is for me?<br>
'''Mieu:''' No, it's for Big Brother Lot.<br>
'''Ward:''' And Lot is Big Brother Lot... Have you got it out for me?<br>
'''Mieu:''' Ha ha ha! I'll go see Mary. Here's the wing. Give it to Lot, OK, Uncle Ward?

'''Wade:''' Well not really... We just came here on a mission...
(Mieu leaves)

'''Mary:''' ...You're not going to come back anymore?
'''Ward:''' And NOW she calls me Uncle... Whoa, are you OK?! Don't trip...

'''Wade:''' No! That's not the case! ... But I'm not ready to return yet. Just wait, I'll come back with lots of money so we can live an easier life.
(Speedwings)

'''Mary:''' I don't care about that... I just want you to be safe.
====The right northwestern village====

'''Wade:''' Sis...
(If visited by someone other than Lot or Ward)

'''Mary:''' I know it's pointless to tell you to be careful with that personality of yours... but just remember that there are people worried for you. Okay?
'''Mary:''' Have you seen my brother? His name is Ward, and he's a mercenary... Have you at least heard of him? Well, take this for your trouble.

'''Wade:''' ......
(Door Key)

'''Mary:''' Here, take this.
(If visited by Ward)

'''Wade:''' What's this?
'''Mary:''' Ward!<br>
'''Ward:''' Mary! It's good to see you.<br>
'''Mary:''' You've returned?<br>
'''Ward:''' Well, not exactly... We're here on a mission...<br>
'''Mary:''' ...You're never coming back, are you?<br>
'''Ward:''' No! Of course I will! ...Just not yet. Just you wait. When I come back I'll have more money than I can carry. Then all our problems will be a thing of the past.<br>
'''Mary:''' I don't care about that... I just want you safe.<br>
'''Ward:''' Sis...<br>
'''Mary:''' I know how brash and hotheaded you can be, but always remember... There are people who care about you.<br>
'''Ward:''' ......<br>
'''Mary:''' Here, take this.<br>
'''Ward:''' What is it?<br>
'''Mary:''' It's a special weapon. I nursed a traveler back to health, and he left it in return. You can use it, can't you?<br>
'''Ward:''' Thanks, Sis! I've gotta go now.<br>
'''Mary:''' Just be careful...

'''Mary:''' It's a special weapon. I treated the wounds of a traveler a while back, and he left it in return. You can use it, can't you?
(Swordreaver)

'''Wade:''' Thanks, sis! I'll be going.
(If visited by Lot)

'''Lot:''' Mary...<br>
'''Mary:''' Lot! You've returned?<br>
'''Lot:''' No... We just happened to be nearby.<br>
'''Mary:''' Oh... Mieu won't be happy about that.<br>
'''Lot:''' I've made you take care of Mieu ever since our mother died. I'm sorry to force that burden on you.<br>
'''Mary:''' It's not your fault...<br>
'''Lot:''' Someday... I swear... I swear I'll return. ...Can I leave Mieu to you until then?<br>
'''Mary:''' ...You swear it?<br>
'''Lot:''' ...Yes.<br>
'''Mary:''' Don't lie like that... This is war. You don't know if you'll come back.<br>
'''Lot:''' ......<br>
'''Mary:''' But I'll be waiting... Until eternity.<br>
'''Lot:''' I'm sorry.<br>
'''Mary:''' Oh, you should take this.<br>
'''Lot:''' What is it?<br>
'''Mary:''' It's a special weapon. It will help you keep your promise.<br>
'''Lot:''' I appreciate it. Now... I must be off again.<br>
'''Mary:''' Be careful...
'''Mary:''' Be careful...

===Wade and Myu===
(Swordreaver)
'''Myu:''' It's Wade!

'''Wade:''' Hey, Myu, how have you been doing? ...Come on, can't you at least say 'big brother Ward' instead of just Wade?

'''Myu:''' But... Wade is Wade.

'''Wade:''' Ah, never mind. You look like you've been okay.

'''Myu:''' Yes!

'''Wade:''' ... Anyway, it's dangerous here. Go hide in the hills or something.

'''Myu:''' ...Alone?

'''Wade:''' Sis is still here, right? She'll take you.

'''Myu:''' Yeah, big sister Mary's here too.

'''Wade:''' You call sis 'big sister' and me just 'Wade', huh?

'''Myu:''' Oh. Here.

'''Wade:''' What's this? A feather?

'''Myu:''' It makes you like a bird!

'''Wade:''' Like a bird? What's that supposed to mean?

'''Myu:''' Like a bird is like a bird.

'''Wade:''' ??? Uh, anyway, you're giving this to me?

'''Myu:''' No. It's for my big brother Lot.

'''Wade:''' Even he's not just 'Lot'...

'''Myu:''' Hahaha... I'll go see Mary. Here's the feather. Give it to Lot, okay, big brother Wade?

'''Wade:''' She sure can change her tune quickly... Woah be careful! Don't trip...

(Speedwings received!)

===Lot and Mary===
'''Lot:''' Mary...

'''Mary:''' Lot! You've returned?

'''Lot:''' No... We just stopped by on a mission.

'''Mary:''' Oh... Myu will be sad.

'''Lot:''' Ever since mother died, I've been making you take care of Myu. I'm sorry.

'''Mary:''' No... don't be...

'''Lot:''' Someday...

'''Mary:''' !

'''Lot:''' Someday I'll return. ...Can I leave Myu to you until then?

'''Mary:''' ...Can you promise?

'''Lot:''' ... Yes.

'''Mary:''' Don't lie... You're going to war. There's no saying you'll return.

'''Lot:''' ......

'''Mary:''' But I'll be waiting. Without false hope...

'''Lot:''' I'm sorry.

'''Mary:''' Oh, take this.

'''Lot:''' What?

'''Mary:''' It's a magic weapon that will help you keep your promise.

'''Lot:''' Thank you, I appreciate it. Well then... I must be off.

'''Mary:''' Be careful...

(Swordreaver received!)

===Lot and Myu===
'''Myu:''' Big brother! You're home!

'''Lot:''' Myu! Have you been good?

'''Myu:''' Yes! I was good! I didn't even wet my bed!

'''Lot:''' Good girl.

'''Myu:''' Lot... While you were away, Mom...

'''Lot:''' Yeah, I know... She went to a faraway place...

'''Myu:''' Here... Mom left it for you. She said you'll find a use for it.

'''Lot:''' ......
====The northeastern village====

'''Myu:''' Big brother... You won't leave, right? You won't go to a faraway place without me like Mom...
'''Young Male Villager:''' ...The resistance suffered a crippling defeat here. Here, take this. I'm going to look for other survivors. There is still hope if we can find our leader.

'''Lot:''' Of course not! I'll come back here with lots of presents for you. So listen to what Mary says and be a good girl, all right?
(Sleep)

'''Myu:''' Okay!
====The eastern village====

'''Lot:''' Anyway, hide in the hills with Mary. It's dangerous here.
'''Young Male Villager:''' I hate the resistance! We civilians have to deal with the consequences of their actions. You know we stand no chance if we try to stand up to our lord. We just want to lead a normal life. Oh... I'm sorry. I'm just frustrated. I have no useful skills so I can't help you... but take this...

'''Myu:''' Yes sir... Lot?
(Orion's Bolt)

'''Lot:''' ?
====The southeastern village====

'''Myu:''' You promised! You won't go to a faraway place, right?
'''Elderly Male Villager:''' A few months ago, my granddaughter went missing. We all searched in the mountains and found her. She was with a hulking monster of a man, so we threw stones at him to drive him off... Afterwards my granddaughter told me that he was the one who led her to the village. ...If you ever find that man, would you give him this? It's a special axe that's effective against swords. And... tell him I'm sorry.

'''Lot:''' Yeah...
(Swordreaver)

(Myu leaves)
===Battle quotes===

'''Lot:''' I hope I can keep that promise...
====Zinque enters combat====

(Speedwings received!)
'''Zinque:''' The people are suffering...? What concern is that to me? They live to serve me. Their wails are meaningless.

==Against Zinc==
====Zinque dies====
(Before battling him)

'''Zinc:''' The people are suffering...? Fools. What is it to me? Their purpose is to die in my service. I couldn't care less about the wails of those worthless animals.
'''Zinque:''' This is my land... Mine alone... None... shall...

(After defeating him)
==Ending==

'''Zinc:''' This is my land.. Mine only... No one... shall...
'''Merlinus:''' Lord Roy, there is a young man claiming to be with the resistance here.<br>
'''Roy:''' I'll see him. Let him pass.<br>
'''Elffin:''' I am pleased to meet you. My name is Elffin. I am a member of the resistance force.<br>
'''Roy:''' I am Roy of the Lycian Army.<br>
'''Elffin:''' You have my thanks for saving the village here.<br>
'''Roy:''' We simply did what we believe is right.<br>
'''Elffin:''' But now you stand against Etruria.<br>
'''Roy:''' Even so, I have no regrets. We may have opposed Etruria's immediate interests, but once the truth about the Isles is out, I'm certain they will understand. I sent a letter to a trustworthy Etrurian noble. If she takes appropriate measures, they will send us aid.<br>
'''Elffin:''' I would not be so sure...<br>
'''Roy:''' Why is that?<br>
'''Elffin:''' Don't you find it odd that Etruria requested your help here at all?<br>
'''Roy:''' Actually... yes, I do.<br>
'''Elffin:''' If I may be so bold as to guess... Was it High Chancellor Roartz and Lord Arcardo who requested your help?<br>
'''Roy:''' ...It was.<br>
'''Elffin:''' There may have been ulterior motives for sending your army away. Perhaps your presence in Lycia was undesirable to them.<br>
'''Roy:''' I never even considered that...<br>
'''Elffin:''' There are rumors... that Roartz and Arcardo are working with Bern.<br>
'''Roy:''' What?! Then Lycia is in danger!<br>
'''Merlinus:''' L-Lord Roy!<br>
'''Elffin:''' Your country may be in peril. Are you free to waste your time on the Isles as you are?<br>
'''Merlinus:''' He's right! Bern wanted us out of Lycia so they could launch an invasion! We must head back at once!<br>
'''Roy:''' ...We stay here.<br>
'''Merlinus:''' What?! Why?!<br>
'''Elffin:''' ......<br>
'''Roy:''' It's difficult to judge what may be hearsay and what may be truth. We can't simply jump on this rumor and run back to Lycia. I am certainly concerned, but my father and General Cecilia are there. The people on the Isles have only us to rely on.<br>
'''Merlinus:''' That may be, but...<br>
'''Roy:''' If we leave without finishing our mission, then all we've done here was for naught.<br>
'''Elffin:''' ...Your army is blessed with a levelheaded leader.<br>
'''Roy:''' What?<br>
'''Elffin:''' Lord Roy, I am sorry for testing you so.<br>
'''Merlinus:''' Testing us? So that was a lie?!<br>
'''Elffin:''' It was the truth. However, I presented the rumor in a way that you might take rash action. Your leader is a prudent individual. I would join you if you allow it.<br>
'''Roy:''' ...I don't like that you tested us. But if you can help, I welcome you. Now, back to the concern we face here. What can we do to help the people of the Isles?<br>
'''Elffin:''' You should head south... towards Caldonia.<br>
'''Roy:''' Why?<br>
'''Elffin:''' Castle Eidyna is located there. It is where workers are kept before they are sent to Eburacum.<br>
'''Roy:''' Then we must save the people there!<br>
'''Elffin:''' Lord Roy, please take this sword.<br>
'''Roy:''' What is this?<br>
'''Elffin:''' It is called a wyrmslayer. It was created during the Scouring to use against dragons. It is effective against wyverns as well.<br>
'''Roy:''' Wyrmslayer? Is this a legendary weapon?<br>
'''Elffin:''' No. Legendary weapons can only be used by those whose skill rivals the Eight Legends. This weapon, however, can be wielded by anyone with experience in swordplay.

Introduction

In order to speak to the resistance force about the bandits on the Isles, Roy and company move west along the coastline. Along the way, they come across a small village caught in conflict. The local lord oppresses the resistance and does anything he can to get rid of them...

Opening

(At the castle)

Zinque: Have you found that resistance bard yet?
Soldier: We have a good lead, milord.
Zinque: Out with it, then. Where is he?
Soldier: He's apparently in hiding in the nearby village.
Zinque: Removing Elffin the Bard will sever the head guiding the resistance force. Find him. Burn the village to the ground if you have to!
Soldier: Yes, milord.

(The soldier leaves)

Zinque: I apologize for the wait, Madam Melady.
Melady: You seem to have... a full plate.
Zinque: Oh, worry not, our obligations to Bern take priority over all. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask.
Melady: Then let's get to the matter we discussed earlier...
Zinque: Ah, the whereabouts of Princess Guinivere.
Melady: Have you found anything, Lord Zinque?
Zinque: I regret to say that I have not. Have you been to Juteaux?
Melady: I have.
Zinque: Then I suggest you pay a visit to Father Orlo. He resides in the castle at Eburacum to the north. He knows the region better than any of us, so he may have some idea. However, if even he does not know where Princess Guinivere might be, then she is most likely not in the Isles.
Melady: Thank you. I will speak with Father Orlo then. Farewell.

(Melady leaves)

(At Roy's camp)

Roy: The resistance is supposedly very active in this area.
Merlinus: Yes, that's what our sources say. But I also hear that Etruria's military is hunting down members of the resistance. Their numbers have apparently dwindled.
Roy: ...Etruria does nothing about bandits but oppresses the resistance? Something is very wrong with this picture...
Merlinus: Indeed it is.
Roy: Can we do anything to help the resistance?
Merlinus: Our hands are tied... To do so would directly oppose Etruria's nobility. We are here under Etruria's orders, remember.
Roy: I'll send a letter to General Cecilia and see what she has to say. Let's not do anything too rash just yet.
Soldier: Lord Roy! Etrurian troops are attacking the village to find a member of the resistance force! They're under orders from Lord Zinque, the noble who controls this area.
Merlinus: Oh no! ...But should we intervene?
Roy: We haven't the time to await General Cecilia's reply... But I want to help the people. ...Even if it means opposing an Etrurian noble.
Merlinus: Lord Roy...
Roy: We fight! Our purpose is just! Make Lycia proud!

(The battle begins)

In battle

At the start of turn 1, enemy phase

(Melady and Galle fly in from the northeast and into the north)

Galle: Were you able to ascertain Princess Guinivere's whereabouts?
Melady: Unfortunately, no. But a bishop named Orlo in charge of the mines in the north may know.
Galle: Very well. Then we head north.
Melady: Galle... I'm sorry. King Zephiel wanted to keep the matter of Princess Guinivere a secret, so only I was assigned to search for her. I'm sorry to get you mixed up in this...
Galle: Don't worry yourself.
Melady: But you work directly under General Murdock. Surely you have other duties.
Galle: General Murdock agreed to allow me to assist you. He thinks it's vital we find the princess and the Fire Emblem.
Melady: ...Do you think Princess Guinivere has the Fire Emblem?
Galle: That's what His Majesty the king thinks. And I think he's correct, all things considered.
Melady: ......
Galle: Come now, don't be like that... I'm sure Princess Guinivere went with good intentions. Let's hurry now.
Melady: You're right...

(Melady and Galle leave the map through the northeast)

(In the northwest village)

Elffin: ...Where... am I...?
Mary: Are you awake?
Elffin: ...What... happened...?
Mary: We found you lying at the entrance to the village, covered in wounds. We took you home and have been taking care of you.
Elffin: Thank you... But you are...?
Mary: My name is Mary. I live in this village.
Elffin: ...You live here... Oh no! My very presence endangers this village... ...It may even be too late...
Mary: I'm sorry?
Elffin: I am Elffin... One of the resistance force. The lord here is sure to send troops in to capture me.
Mary: The resistance force...
Elffin: Lady Mary, you should leave here. The village is in danger.
Mary: ...No, I will stay.
Elffin: ...Why?
Mary: I have a younger brother, but he left with his friend next door to find work. I'm taking care of his friend's sister. I can't abandon her.
Elffin: I understand... The most I can do to protect this village is leave. I thank you again for tending to my wounds. Please take care.
Mary: Yes, you too.

At the start of turn 4, enemy phase

(At the castle)

Zinque: What is going on out there? Why is it taking so long to find a single member of the resistance?!
Soldier: It's the Lycian Army! They've joined the battle on behalf of the villagers...
Zinque: The Lycian Army? They would betray Etruria?!
Soldier: Also, milord, we have received a missive from Juteaux. The Lycian Army is suspected of working with the bandits. Lord Arcardo has given us orders to take them dead or alive.
Zinque: The Lycian Army has ties with bandits? Hah! The irony! That fool only wants to save face...
Soldier: Excuse me, milord?
Zinque: This is not the mainland. The Isles are ruled by might.
Soldier: I'm not quite sure I understand...
Zinque: Pay it no mind. Was that all the message from Juteaux said?
Soldier: There's more. Lord Arcardo has provided us with reinforcements.
Zinque: What?!
Soldier: They should arrive soon.
Zinque: Confound it! We won't get credit for defeating Lycia if we're aided by reinforcements! We must wrap this up before they can join the fight... Ah, I've an idea! Get me Scollan!
Soldier: Yes, milord.

(The soldier leaves and Scollan appears)

Scollan: You called, Lord Zinque?
Zinque: Burn down the village. Kill any who resist.
Scollan: ...Can we take the loot?
Zinque: Do as you wish. Just do it quickly.
Scollan: You can count on us, Lord Zinque. Heh heh heh...

At the start of turn 6, enemy phase

(Scollan and his bandits, including Gonzalez, arrive from the northwest)

Scollan: Gonzalez! Where are you, Gonzalez?!
Gonzalez: Here... I here...
Scollan: There's a village to the south. With me so far?
Gonzalez: With you so far.
Scollan: Good. It might be a base for the resistance. Zinque says to burn it to the ground, village and all.
Gonzalez: Village and all...
Scollan: Good, you understand. Now get goin'! Don't screw this one up, you dimwit.
Gonzalez: I... I...
Scollan: You got a problem? Does your head hurt from thinking too much?
Gonzalez: N-no...

(Gonzalez leaves)

Scollan: Heh, he's ugly as sin, but he's got a heart of gold. There's nothin' wrong with tearin' down a few houses. Are we clear, wretches? No questions?
Bandit: We got it, Boss!

At the start of turn 8, enemy phase

(Klein and his soldiers arrive from the southeast alongside Thea)

Klein: That's the Lycian Army...
Thea: They were assigned to fight against the bandits...
Klein: I know. But Lord Arcardo says they're allied with the bandits now. Why they're doing exactly the opposite of their assignment is beyond me...
Thea: ......
Klein: Thea, take your soldiers and attack from the north. I'll commence the attack from here.
Thea: Yes, sir.
Klein: Thea! Hold on.
Thea: Yes, sir?
Klein: I hear that you have siblings.
Thea: Yes, sir, I have two sisters. One older, one younger.
Klein: Are they pegasus knights like you?
Thea: They are, actually. Why do you ask?
Klein: I have a younger sister myself...
Thea: Any sister of yours must be enchanting.
Klein: Yes, she is a sight. I heard, however, she got tangled up in some mess and now she's missing...
Thea: What? Oh my...
Klein: I have some people looking into it, but they've yet to find anything. If I didn't have this mission, I would search for her myself...
Thea: ......
Klein: Thea, be careful out there. For your family's sake.
Thea: Yes, sir. Thank you.

(Thea leaves the map through the southwest)

Klein: Ready then? Let's move.
Soldier: Sir, are you sure?
Klein: Of what?
Soldier: Lord Arcardo said Ilia's pegasus knights are expendable. They should be fighting on the front line, not us. Surely the lives of us Etrurian soldiers are more valuable.
Klein: Don't be ridiculous. They are reliable companions. We will attack at the same time... or before them, if need be. Understood?
Soldier: Yes, sir.
Klein: ...Lord Arcardo's story is curious, though... The army from Lycia only arrived very recently. How could they create ties with the bandits so quickly...?

At the start of turn 9, enemy phase

(At the castle)

Soldier: Lord Zinque, reinforcements from Juteaux should arrive shortly.
Zinque: Blast! We have enough problems as it is... The last thing I need is reinforcements stealing the credit!

At the start of turn 10, enemy phase

(Thea and her pegasus knights arrive from the north)

Thea: Are you ready? We move southward!
Pegasus Knight: Captain... Are you sure we'll be all right?
Thea: Is something wrong?
Pegasus Knight: The Etrurian army considers us disposable. They may send us to our doom...
Thea: Where did you hear that?
Pegasus Knight: One of the other riders was told so by someone in the Etrurian army.
Thea: Pay no mind to mere rumors.
Pegasus Knight: But...
Thea: I'm certain Commander Klein would never approve of that.
Pegasus Knight: Do you really think so?
Thea: Commander Klein's not like that. I trust him with my life.
Pegasus Knight: ...Very well. Then we'll trust him as well, for we trust you, Captain.
Thea: Good. Let's go!

Talk conversations

Lilina talks to Gonzalez

Lilina: Excuse me!
Gonzalez: W-what you doing?! I am enemy!
Lilina: I know... But there's such a look of sorrow in your eyes.
Gonzalez: ...There is village near mountain. You know?
Lilina: Yes, I know it.
Gonzalez: Tell people escape. I have order. Destroy village. I...
Lilina: What? Don't! The villagers are innocent...
Gonzalez: No. It order. I must.
Lilina: It sounds to me like you should leave the person who gave you that order.
Gonzalez: Leave?
Lilina: Yes! You can fight with us. We're protecting the villagers.
Gonzalez: ...No... I monster... People mean to me... People throw stones... People say, "Go away!"... "You a monster!"... Not human...
Lilina: That's horrible! Of course you're human! You're a very kind-hearted man. I can tell. Please, come with us. Don't be afraid.
Gonzalez: Me afraid? I never afraid! Everyone afraid of ME! I not afraid!
Lilina: No. You ARE afraid. You're afraid that people will throw stones and call you a monster.
Gonzalez: ......
Lilina: But you don't have to be afraid of us. Everyone in our army is nice. They won't do that to you. Be brave... Take that first step, and you'll never have to be afraid again.
Gonzalez: ......

(Gonzalez joins the army)

Shanna talks to Thea before Klein is recruited

Shanna: Th-Thea! Sister!
Thea: Shanna...?
Shanna: What are you doing here?
Thea: ...I have a contract with Commander Klein of Etruria. Shanna... Are you with the Lycian Army?
Shanna: Yes.
Thea: I see... Then this was inevitable. Draw your lance!
Shanna: No... I don't want to fight you!
Thea: ...Shanna, you know the code of the Ilian mercenaries.
Shanna: ...Never betray your employer...
Thea: Precisely. And we must follow that code, even if it means we must fight our own kin.
Shanna: But... one of us could be killed!
Thea: I know that! But we must fight! Failing to do so would damage the reputation of the Ilian mercenaries. Our nation can't afford to lose its mercenary contracts!
Shanna: Thea...
Thea: Now, draw your lance, Shanna!

(Shanna leaves)

Thea: ...Why... Why does it have to be like this...?

Shanna talks to Thea after Klein is recruited

(If this is the first time she is talking to Thea)

Shanna: T-Thea! Sister!
Thea: Shanna...?
Shanna: What are you doing here?
Thea: ...I have a contract with Commander Klein of Etruria. Shanna... Are you with the Lycian Army?
Shanna: Yes.
Thea: I see... Then this was inevitable. Draw your lance!
Shanna: No, Commander Klein said he would join us! We don't have to fight!
Thea: What? Really?
Shanna: Yes!
Thea: ...That's a relief. I will join you as well.
Shanna: Thanks, Sister!

(Thea and her soldiers become allied units)

(If this is the second time she is talking to Thea)

Shanna: Thea!
Thea: Shanna... Are you prepared to fight?
Shanna: No! We don't have to fight!
Thea: Of course we do. Must I repeat myself--
Shanna: Commander Klein said he would join us! We don't have to fight!
Thea: What? Really...? You're... telling the truth?
Shanna: Yes! To fight me would be breaking the code!
Thea: ......
Shanna: ...Thea?
Thea: ...I'm so relieved...
Shanna: Thea...
Thea: Thank goodness... I was so scared...
Shanna: We'll always be together, Sister...

(Thea joins the army and her soldiers become allied units)

Clarine talks to Klein

Clarine: Klein!
Klein: Clarine? You are safe!
Clarine: I'm sorry I left like I did. But I wanted so badly to see you!
Klein: Oh, the trouble you get into... Well, you're safe, and what's what matters. ...What brings you out here? Did you find a trustworthy mercenary for hire?
Clarine: No, I joined the Lycian Army.
Klein: The Lycian Army?!
Clarine: Yes! My healing staves have been most useful!
Klein: ...I see. I thought your eyes looked... sharper.
Clarine: I'm a lady now, I am.
Klein: ...Let me ask you this. What kind of individual is General Roy?
Clarine: Hmm... He's a tad rough around the edges for a noble... His hair especially is an absolute mess...
Klein: ...Let me rephrase that. Is General Roy working with the bandits?
Clarine: No, of course not! We've been sent here to vanquish the bandits!
Klein: So I heard...
Clarine: The Etrurians here are malicious people... It is so embarrassing... Klein... Are you working for them?
Klein: No. Not anymore.
Clarine: What?
Klein: I want sent here to protect the villagers. I hereby join the Lycian Army to fulfill my mission.
Clarine: Thank you, Klein!
Klein: Shall we, then? Will you introduce me to General Roy?
Clarine: Naturally! I love you, Klein.

(Klein joins the army and his soldiers become allied units)

Roy talks to Klein

Roy: Wait! Aren't you an Etrurian commander? Why are you attacking us?!
Klein: I have specific orders from Lord Arcardo to take you down.
Roy: Can't you see what's happening here? The people are suffering from the lords' abusive treatment! And you're helping them. You should be ashamed!
Klein: ...Wait. Are you saying that you're helping the villagers?
Roy: Yes. The lord here is ransacking the village in search of the resistance. We're fighting to stop him. And you're apparently on his side.
Klein: I had no such intention. My orders stated that you were the ones working with the bandits.
Roy: What?! Why would we be working with bandits? We just want to clean things up here and get home to Lycia!
Klein: ...Such nerve.
Roy: What?!
Klein: Lord Arcardo has made a fool of me. I have been so blind enough not to see through his thin veil of deceit.
Roy: ...Do you see what we see now?
Klein: I am Klein of House Reglay of Etruria. Forgive me for my misguided attack against you.
Roy: I am General Roy of the Lycian Army.
Klein: General Roy, I would advise you to be cautious. With you against Lord Arcardo, I expect him to use every pawn at his disposal to have you dealt with.
Roy: Thank you for the advice...
Klein: If you would allow it, I will join you.
Roy: You will?
Klein: Yes. I wish to monitor you as an Etrurian commander. I should prove useful as both a fighter and a diplomat.
Roy: Thank you.

(Klein joins the army and his soldiers become allied units)

Klein talks to Thea

Klein: Thea!
Thea: Commander Klein! What is the matter?
Klein: There's been a change of plans. We are going to fight under General Roy of the Lycian Army.
Thea: Understood, sir. We shall follow you without question.
Klein: I don't mind a question here or there, to be frank.
Thea: We are Ilian mercenaries, sir. We follow our employer's every order. And besides...
Klein: Yes?
Thea: I trust you to make proper judgments.
Klein: Thank you, Thea.

(Thea joins the army and her soldiers become allied units)

Houses/villages

The southwestern village

Middle-Aged Female Villager: I wonder how Mary's doing... Her brother and his friend are both traveling, trying to make money. It's too dangerous to go outside now... Can you go check on her? Here, I'll give you this for your trouble...

(Barrier)

The western village

Middle-Aged Male Villager: Ah, our heroes! I thank you on behalf of the village. This is made from the scale of a dragon. It's said it will protect the one who uses it from harm. Please, take it.

(Dragonshield)

The left northwestern village

(If visited by someone other than Lot or Ward)

Mieu: Lot? ...Oh. I'm sorry... Take this.

(Elixir)

(If visited by Lot)

Mieu: Brother! You're home!
Lot: Mieu! Have you been a good girl?
Mieu: Yes, I was good! I didn't even wet my bed!
Lot: That's my girl.
Mieu: Lot... While you were away, Mother...
Lot: Yeah, I know... She went to sleep...
Mieu: Here... Mother left this for you. She said you might find a use for it.
Lot: ......
Mieu: Brother... You won't leave me, will you? You won't go to sleep like Mother...?
Lot: Of course not! In fact, next time you see me I'll have a whole wagon of presents. Just listen to Mary and stay good, all right?
Mieu: OK!
Lot: Go hide in the hills with Mary. It's dangerous here.
Mieu: I will... And Lot?
Lot: Yeah?
Mieu: You promised! Don't leave me!
Lot: I won't...

(Mieu leaves)

Lot: At least, I hope I won't...

(Speedwings)

(If visited by Ward)

Mieu: It's Ward!
Ward: Hey, Mieu! ...Come on, can't you call me UNCLE Ward?
Mieu: But... you're just Ward.
Ward: Ah, never mind. You look like you've gotten bigger.
Mieu: Yeah!
Ward: ...It's dangerous here. Go hide in the hills.
Mieu: ...Alone?
Ward: My sister's still here, right? She'll take you.
Mieu: Yeah, Auntie Mary's here.
Ward: So she's Auntie Mary but I'm just Ward, huh?
Mieu: Oh. Here you go.
Ward: What's this? A wing?
Mieu: It'll make you like a bird!
Ward: Like a bird? What's that mean?
Mieu: Like a bird. You know.
Ward: No, I don't know. But, uh, anyway, this is for me?
Mieu: No, it's for Big Brother Lot.
Ward: And Lot is Big Brother Lot... Have you got it out for me?
Mieu: Ha ha ha! I'll go see Mary. Here's the wing. Give it to Lot, OK, Uncle Ward?

(Mieu leaves)

Ward: And NOW she calls me Uncle... Whoa, are you OK?! Don't trip...

(Speedwings)

The right northwestern village

(If visited by someone other than Lot or Ward)

Mary: Have you seen my brother? His name is Ward, and he's a mercenary... Have you at least heard of him? Well, take this for your trouble.

(Door Key)

(If visited by Ward)

Mary: Ward!
Ward: Mary! It's good to see you.
Mary: You've returned?
Ward: Well, not exactly... We're here on a mission...
Mary: ...You're never coming back, are you?
Ward: No! Of course I will! ...Just not yet. Just you wait. When I come back I'll have more money than I can carry. Then all our problems will be a thing of the past.
Mary: I don't care about that... I just want you safe.
Ward: Sis...
Mary: I know how brash and hotheaded you can be, but always remember... There are people who care about you.
Ward: ......
Mary: Here, take this.
Ward: What is it?
Mary: It's a special weapon. I nursed a traveler back to health, and he left it in return. You can use it, can't you?
Ward: Thanks, Sis! I've gotta go now.
Mary: Just be careful...

(Swordreaver)

(If visited by Lot)

Lot: Mary...
Mary: Lot! You've returned?
Lot: No... We just happened to be nearby.
Mary: Oh... Mieu won't be happy about that.
Lot: I've made you take care of Mieu ever since our mother died. I'm sorry to force that burden on you.
Mary: It's not your fault...
Lot: Someday... I swear... I swear I'll return. ...Can I leave Mieu to you until then?
Mary: ...You swear it?
Lot: ...Yes.
Mary: Don't lie like that... This is war. You don't know if you'll come back.
Lot: ......
Mary: But I'll be waiting... Until eternity.
Lot: I'm sorry.
Mary: Oh, you should take this.
Lot: What is it?
Mary: It's a special weapon. It will help you keep your promise.
Lot: I appreciate it. Now... I must be off again.
Mary: Be careful...

(Swordreaver)

The northeastern village

Young Male Villager: ...The resistance suffered a crippling defeat here. Here, take this. I'm going to look for other survivors. There is still hope if we can find our leader.

(Sleep)

The eastern village

Young Male Villager: I hate the resistance! We civilians have to deal with the consequences of their actions. You know we stand no chance if we try to stand up to our lord. We just want to lead a normal life. Oh... I'm sorry. I'm just frustrated. I have no useful skills so I can't help you... but take this...

(Orion's Bolt)

The southeastern village

Elderly Male Villager: A few months ago, my granddaughter went missing.

(Swordreaver)

Battle quotes

Zinque enters combat

Zinque: The people are suffering...? What concern is that to me? They live to serve me. Their wails are meaningless.

Zinque dies

Zinque: This is my land... Mine alone... None... shall...

Ending

Merlinus: Lord Roy, there is a young man claiming to be with the resistance here.
Roy: I'll see him. Let him pass.
Elffin: I am pleased to meet you. My name is Elffin. I am a member of the resistance force.
Roy: I am Roy of the Lycian Army.
Elffin: You have my thanks for saving the village here.
Roy: We simply did what we believe is right.
Elffin: But now you stand against Etruria.
Roy: Even so, I have no regrets. We may have opposed Etruria's immediate interests, but once the truth about the Isles is out, I'm certain they will understand. I sent a letter to a trustworthy Etrurian noble. If she takes appropriate measures, they will send us aid.
Elffin: I would not be so sure...
Roy: Why is that?
Elffin: Don't you find it odd that Etruria requested your help here at all?
Roy: Actually... yes, I do.
Elffin: If I may be so bold as to guess... Was it High Chancellor Roartz and Lord Arcardo who requested your help?
Roy: ...It was.
Elffin: There may have been ulterior motives for sending your army away. Perhaps your presence in Lycia was undesirable to them.
Roy: I never even considered that...
Elffin: There are rumors... that Roartz and Arcardo are working with Bern.
Roy: What?! Then Lycia is in danger!
Merlinus: L-Lord Roy!
Elffin: Your country may be in peril. Are you free to waste your time on the Isles as you are?
Merlinus: He's right! Bern wanted us out of Lycia so they could launch an invasion! We must head back at once!
Roy: ...We stay here.
Merlinus: What?! Why?!
Elffin: ......
Roy: It's difficult to judge what may be hearsay and what may be truth. We can't simply jump on this rumor and run back to Lycia. I am certainly concerned, but my father and General Cecilia are there. The people on the Isles have only us to rely on.
Merlinus: That may be, but...
Roy: If we leave without finishing our mission, then all we've done here was for naught.
Elffin: ...Your army is blessed with a levelheaded leader.
Roy: What?
Elffin: Lord Roy, I am sorry for testing you so.
Merlinus: Testing us? So that was a lie?!
Elffin: It was the truth. However, I presented the rumor in a way that you might take rash action. Your leader is a prudent individual. I would join you if you allow it.
Roy: ...I don't like that you tested us. But if you can help, I welcome you. Now, back to the concern we face here. What can we do to help the people of the Isles?
Elffin: You should head south... towards Caldonia.
Roy: Why?
Elffin: Castle Eidyna is located there. It is where workers are kept before they are sent to Eburacum.
Roy: Then we must save the people there!
Elffin: Lord Roy, please take this sword.
Roy: What is this?
Elffin: It is called a wyrmslayer. It was created during the Scouring to use against dragons. It is effective against wyverns as well.
Roy: Wyrmslayer? Is this a legendary weapon?
Elffin: No. Legendary weapons can only be used by those whose skill rivals the Eight Legends. This weapon, however, can be wielded by anyone with experience in swordplay.

(If all villages were visited)

Mary: Are you the leader of this army?
Roy: Yes, I am.
Mary: I wish to thank you for protecting our village.
Roy: There is no thanks necessary... We did what we believe is right.
Mary: Regardless, I want you to have this as a token of our gratitude.

(If Klein and all his soldiers survived)

Soldier: Commander Klein, we will stay and help with reconstruction as directed.
Klein: Good. These people need you.
Soldier: Would that we could fight at your side. Here is the bolt we were holding for you. You may need it more than we do. Farewell and good luck, Commander Klein.
Klein: Thank you. Good luck to you as well.

(Orion's Bolt)

(If Thea and all her soldiers survived)

Pegasus Knight: Captain! We will return to Ilia to make our report.
Thea: Very good. Thank you for your service.
Pegasus Knight: Oh, and take this... Your sister gave it to me before she left. Please be careful...
Thea: Thank you. You too.
