Trainee is a group of classes present only in Template:FESS; it includes three classes - the Journeyman, Recruit, and Pupil classes. These classes belong to young, inexperienced characters, namely Ross, Amelia, and Ewan respectively.
At level ten, these classes can choose to promote to three different classes, two of which are regular first-tier classes. If either of the regular classes are picked, they continue as regular units. The third option is only unlocked after completing the game at least once on both Eirika's and Ephraim's routes. This option has the same name as the original trainee class, but have twenty levels like other classes. Trainee classes start out very weak, but these characters have ten more levels to grow and gain stats. While most characters in The Sacred Stones have forty levels, from 1-20 unpromoted and then 1-20 promoted, trainee classes have fifty, due to the extra ten levels before promotion to a first tier classs. This makes trainee classes quite popular, due to their above-average growth rates.
