The Ro character is supposed to be a square

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katakana#Table_of_katakana
ロ=Ro, is correct. There's nothing wrong with your computer or anything. It's intended to be a square (with little potrusions on the bottom corners.) -- L95 (talk) 02:07, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Getting better quality images with your Wii U

If you want to avoid Miiverse's image shrinking, use the Wii U's web browser to upload images instead of Miiverse. Go to Imgur or something and select upload from computer, and you can upload the tv and/or gamepad screen. You can log into imgur on the Wii U first so the images are associated with you imgur account and they'll be in one place too. L95 (talk) 20:01, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

I forgot about that, whoops. PikɑSɑmus (talk) 20:05, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

(Fates) on Marth's help text

I added that because it's Marth's help text as an amiibo unit in Fates, his help description(s) in Awakening is shared with other bonus units: A mysterious traveller from the Outrealms. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 22:45, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

I don't think it's really necessary. The Awakening one is generic and thus seems pointless to add to the pages, and no help text exists for characters in Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, Mystery of the Emblem, Shadow Dragon, or New Mystery of the Emblem, so it seems weird. Most of the time, we only use the latest descriptions anyway, the only exceptions that I know of being characters who appear in both The Binding Blade and Fire Emblem (such as Eliwood). Villager Trio image

The image it is from labels it as "Qylf, Gray, Robin", if you were wondering why I uploaded the green haired one under Qylf previously. It's not definitive logic, it could be going from top to bottom, though even then, the green haired one would be Robin in that case.... Don't forget the whitewings trio art gives Palla, Est, and Catria the wrong colors too (Est seems to have blue hair there and Catria has... brown? hair). L95 (talk) 17:15, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

I know Gaiden's manual isn't the best place for hair colors with basically every character having the wrong hair color, but two out of three are right, and the one that isn't has robin's hairstyle. PikaSamus (talk) 17:37, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
Ehhhh, if we're going by colors, what really weirds me out is the shirt colors are somewhat correct by the names, but not the hair colors. The middle one labeled Gray in the caption has a blue shirt that matches Gray's portrait, and the one and right has a green shirt like Robin's portrait... Then we have someone with a brown shirt and green hair??? But like I said, I'm more inclined to trust the caption than just trying to figure out which art is closest, because none of the art really matches. L95 (talk) 18:17, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Tabs

While I understand that you followed through with PerplexingArticulator's edit for the Rinkah page for consistency's sake, it still irks me that there's a section that says "Enemy" and tabs that also say "Enemy". I still think having the difficulty listed is enough. Sometimes it's better to deviate from the norm, you know? ChaosGallade (talk) 15:43, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Kishuna CG's

I checked the prototype, are you referring to how this CG gets used twice in the prototype (in 22x and 32x?)? Or is there something else I'm missing. (I just wanted to elaborate the line on the page a bit but I wasn't sure) L95 (talk) 20:21, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

I haven't played the prototype, but there are 2 different Kishuna CGs in the category but there's only one in the final game. If that one is used twice, then revert my edit. PikaSamus (talk) 20:56, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Oh, are you talking about this one? I haven't seen it used in the prototype anywhere, though I haven't checked every nook and cranny, so I don't want to decisively say it's unused, thought I'm pretty sure it is. (This CG does exist in the final release, with finished coloring and everything, and is still unused. I wondered why they bothered finishing it.) L95 (talk) 21:01, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the one. PikaSamus (talk) 21:02, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Growth rates idea

I've been thinking about setting up the growth rates by first including the character's default ones, then adding by class. For example, if Subaki's got an innate 50% chance to increase Skill on level up, Sky Knight notches it up to 60%. How about that? Besides, the important part is likely to train units all-around. The weaknesses can potentially be fixed (kind of) by putting two and two together in this manner. It's pretty tedious, but may be helpful for printing the final sum. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 09:12, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure we already do this (at least for Shadow Dragon, not sure about Fates). PikaSamus (talk) 11:53, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
Never mind, I thought you meant something else. We have the growth rates when reclassed section, so I don't really see the point. PikaSamus (talk) 12:05, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

How do you rip sprites?

Do you rip the sprites from the rom's data itself, or by making a screenshot transparent? Emperor Hardin (talk) 18:18, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

I do the latter. PikaSamus (talk) 18:35, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
If I Uploaded screenshots of battle animation stills, or maybe even portraits, would you be ok with ripping them? Like say some enemy palettes from FE3? Emperor Hardin (talk) 18:37, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
Sure. PikaSamus (talk) 18:39, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
Great I uploaded one right now.
Bs fe03 enemy promoted knight male.png
I'll upload some more to my to-do list/sandbox, which I'll link. Emperor Hardin (talk) 18:49, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
Just poking in here to say some emulators allow you to disable layers, this makes ripping from screenshots a little easier. Example, in VBA, Options-->video-->Layers--> and turning off BG0, BG1, BG2, and BG3 gives you this. L95 (talk) 19:41, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for the info, I'll try that with Saar's two palettes(Intended, and Generic). I wonder if SNES9x allows that option? On a sidenote to explain the FE8 bosses, it seems they gave several characters like Bone, and Breguet unique palettes, but the enemy palette accidentally overwrote it, and made their battle animations colored the generic enemy Red uniform. This didn't effect their hair though, so O'Neill still has a darker hair then enemy fighters even if his palette is otherwise the same. Most of the unique palette bosses like Aias, and infamous Gheb have unchanging palettes. L95 told me that this error applies in Binding Blade too. Emperor Hardin (talk) 19:48, 8 October 2016 (UTC)
For the FE3 screenshots, is there any preference on what backgrounds are easiest to make transparent? Like are castle backgrounds harder then grass backgrounds? Emperor Hardin (talk) 07:03, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
No, there's no peference. PikaSamus (talk) 13:05, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
Alright thanks. Sidenote, Lumel sure was hard to get a good screenshot of, did you ever hear how hard he was in FE3? On another FE3 subject, confirmed in the data that the Pegasus Knight goons are male. Emperor Hardin (talk) 18:37, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
I was thinking you might be able to use this screenshot to get a transparent of a FE5 Baron wielding the Loptyr Sword. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:59, 15 October 2016 (UTC)
Great job, did you see the Thracia 776 Ballista class variation screenshots I uploaded? They were taken with action replay. Emperor Hardin (talk) 18:35, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
I uploaded a picture of O'Neill taken from a GIF on FEplanet, tell me if I made any mistakes? I can also link you to the GIFS, if you wanna try taking some files to upload? Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:54, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

Salamander in FE1

Malladus calls them the Salamander when talking about Manaketes at the end of Chapter 7 of the NES version. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:00, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

I checked, and you're right. I only checked The Pyrathi Dragon's script since that was what was being used as a reference when it was on the dragon page, and I didn't check Lefcandith Gauntlet. PikaSamus (talk) 21:37, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
The tribe name also showed up in Tearring Saga, I believe. It seems each of those names is both a Dragon tribe, and the leader of that tribe. So Medeus's parent, or sibling back in their golden age was probably King/Queen Gaia. Sidenote is ironic that Salamander in the past fought for humans, when pretty much all his tribe in the present such as Mannu fight against humanity, barring Bantu, who is hinted to be Salamander. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:59, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

"Brynhildr" skill

Well then, Brynhildr shows a skill icon upon a successful Skill roll. It's next to the Locktouch and Dragonskin icon in this sprite sheet. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 17:17, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

It has nothing to do with Aegis, though. You should make an article on the skill, since we have articles on other skills only granted through items (such as Return (skill)). PikaSamus (talk) 17:19, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Right, here's the page for that skill granted by the Brynhildr tome. It only seems to work for Leo (or Forrest in Heirs of Fate), otherwise it refuses to activate... What we'll need is its skill icon. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 21:07, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Re: Heroes website names

Oh, okay. My bad. By the way, do I know you from somewhere? Your username sounds familiar. -- User:UltraMarth3000

It's fine; it was discussed on the Discord chatroom. I am on reddit and some other NIWA wikis so maybe you saw me there PikaSamus (talk) 02:19, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
Weren't you Pokemon Trainer Red once on MarioWiki? I was UltraMario there. -- User:UltraMarth3000

Re: "Dermott"

Since you were wondering in the description for that edit, he gave his reasoning here: Dermott is an English form of Diarmuid, which he apparently chose because of its simplicity. --PA (talk) 00:13, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

About these pics

Where should these pics be displayed? Lunaramethyst (talk) 21:23, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Perhaps on Village? PikaSamus (talk) 21:26, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Purpose of having the "space enemy" in Fire Emblem Heroes map sprites?

Does it even matter? Because in my opinion, since the only two differences are facing the other direction and having a red backdrop, I think not. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 21:47, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

We should be able to just implement this instead, so no, uploading them separately shouldn't be necessary. --Moydow (Support) 23:01, 13 March 2017 (UTC)

Space for character map sprites in FE Heroes

It's actually relatively easy to understand, all we need is code to exclude the space in case the "version" tag isn't included, like how I set the character names to default to PAGENAME if the "character" part was removed completely. Unfortunately, I only know how to make defaults and don't have the experience or skill to deal with cases like "if (version1) { include STUFF } else { EXCLUDE }". --Breakin' Benny (talk) 16:02, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry. I didn't realize that apparently the spaces do matter. File:Is ds iron sword .png PikaSamus (talk) 16:04, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
Incidentally, they only matter if they come immediately before the file extension. So the above example breaks, but Is ds iron sword.png (with about two dozen spaces in between "iron" and "sword") works. So a simpler and slightly less function-heavy solution would be to reverse the version and name parameters in the file name; but that might run against our current image naming policies. Any thoughts? --Moydow (Support) 16:14, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

"'Undo' solves all problems", right?

EDIT the part that's "offensive" about my edits next time, PikaSamus. I take your undo as an insult and I have no shame in calling you a moron for thinking "'Undo' button solves the problem" because, as a matter of fact, it doesn't. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 23:11, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

Interested in clearing more FE3 sprites

I've decided to upload the last bit of battle graphics, I can also do FE4 and FE5? Emperor Hardin (talk) 17:01, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

I'm uploading some more, including unused palettes. Then going to do some for FE5. Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:20, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

This might be too much, but do you think you could get the second upload of the unused Lang palette with the Javelin? Emperor Hardin (talk) 03:29, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. On a related note, the LPer "Cake Attack" on somethingawful has some good Thracia 776 portrait rips and screen caps, but I don't have an account to ask him for permission. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:03, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Hilda's quote

I think it's more likely that it was just a mistranslation and she actually said "father in law". I mean, it doesn't make sense mentioning two characters that were fought by the player and then just talk about someone we never even hear about in the entire game. How is the player supposed to know what happened to her father? Not only that, but why would she want to avenge her father by killing Seliph if neither he nor Sigurd killed him? --Unnamedgoon (talk) 01:38, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

In the Japanese she just says father. PikaSamus (talk) 13:01, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

Still doesn't make sense, but it seems you're not changing your mind, so we'll have to wait for the remake. --Unnamedgoon (talk) 16:18, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

How do I get the official romanizations for the NoJ section?

I added the NoJ names because the names were listed in the brackets along with its Japanese name so I assumed that that`s the official romanization names. I can read Japanese so it`s not like I was randomly adding names in. Mr. Kite (talk) 04:24, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

A lot of things don't have official romanizations so it isn't really necessary to have names in that section. You can find romanizations on official websites and whatnot, such as Fire Emblem Museum. PikaSamus (talk) 05:01, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

The price of the Antitoxin is 350 G in the international versions of Sacred Stones

I`m not trying to sound rude but I changed the antitoxin worth to 350G for sacred stones but you changed it back to 450G. 450G is for the Japanese version of the game. Pegasus Knight listed it as 450G and Serenesforest list it as 350G.

Just checked my own copy of the game (a physical North American GBA copy), visited the vendor at Rausten Court. The price of Antitoxin there was 450. Last I checked, all shops at fixed locations all charge the same prices (the only shop that charges differently is the one in battle preparations, which inflates in comparison to the fixed locations, and Antitoxin is not sold there), meaning Antitoxin is definitely a 450 worth in the North American version. Now, I can't personally vouch for the European version, but if it's 350 there, then that would be a change specifically for the European version...--Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 05:14, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Oh, okay. Sorry about that. I actually own the Japanese version of sacred stones so I'll check the prices for other stuff myself for the Japanese version. I'm making a list of changes in weapons and items between the Japanese and international versions of the game. Mr. Kite (talk) 11:40, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Transparency and Spartan helms

The Spartan helm in Echoes mostly just covers the face, leaving most of the top of the head exposed like the Mercenary uniform in Awakening. While hard to tell with the blurry image, the top of the Spartan's head in that pic seems to have Lukas reddish tint. I also got some images in my upload log, you transparent here. wiki/Special:ListFiles/Emperor_Hardin. I can upload more if you want? Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:30, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

A gallery if you wanna transparent them. You could also tell me a good program for mac if you're interested? Emperor Hardin (talk) 22:40, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

thanks for your help. Here's a Thracia 776 artwork you can transparent when you can. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:45, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

A good free image editor available on Mac OS X is GIMP. Making sprites transparent is different than artwork, as artwork has to have anti-aliasing on its edges and I am not good enough at editing to do that. PikaSamus (talk) 00:38, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
Downloading gimp now. I'll also upload more sprites to transparent. So sprites are easier to transparent then artwork then? Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:59, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Are some of the names all capitalized because they're on the game's files?

Okay, so I didn't need to change the capitalization of the characters' names, but I was just curious as to why some of the names are all capitalized and some aren't Mr. Kite (talk) 00:54, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

Yes, and the italicization also marks file names. PikaSamus (talk) 13:33, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

Saizo (Fates)

Hi, I'm not quite sure why you undid my page move of Saizo (Fates) to Saizo; the {{move}} template on Saizo (Fates) suggested that that page be moved since there's no longer a need for disambiguation. Geodude (talk) 19:59, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Cut and pasting is improper way of moving as the page history is on the other page; the proper way is asking an administrator to delete the page in the way and then using the Special:MovePage/Saizo (Fates). PikaSamus (talk) 20:01, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
