Unbroken Heart/Script
Valter arrives at Renvall, and asks Tirado about his progress in capturing Ephraim. Tirado informs him that, despite commanding only a small force, Ephraim has continued to evade capture; however, Tirado has a plan to capture Ephraim, and informs Valter that he has "a friend" at Ephraim's side.
Outside Renvall, Ephraim assesses his situation with Forde and Kyle—they are low on supplies with no acceptable means of restoking, and news has reached them of Renais's fall. Orson then returns from scouting, informing them that there are Grado soldiers around their camp, and more have been dispatched from Renvall. Ephraim decides that their best plan would be to seize Renvall—he reasons that taking it will provide a suitable distraction for Fado and Eirika to escape Renais, and that Grado's soldiers are out searching for them, not expecting them to attack Renvall.
When Ephraim and his men enter Renvall, the mercenary Zonta left in charge of Renvall rallies the man in the fort to defend it. Ephraim tells Orson to return to Frelia if they are defeated in Renvall.
After Ephraim seizes the throne, he plans to move on to Grado Keep; however, Forde arrives from patrolling the perimeter to inform him and Kyle that the fort is surrounded. The three leave Renvall, and are confronted by Grado soldiers led by Valter. Valter compliments Ephraim on taking the fort and eluding capture, but brags that Grado has razed Renais and the Ephraim no longer has hope to escape; Valter offers mercy for surrender, but Ephraim refuses, and he, Forde, and Kyle prepare to fight and flee.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
Spoiler alert: Orson is a traitor. He leaves at the end of the chapter, so don't let him hold anything you don't want to lose.
Note: If Forde or Kyle are defeated in this chapter, they will still appear in Chapter 8 and be usable throughout the rest of the game.
This chapter can take many turns, especially if the player desires to acquire all items in chests. You only have four units to use, so don't panic if it takes you a long time to complete (Tactics rating is no longer a function in this game).
At the start, trade Orson's Silver Sword over to one of your other three units (if you want to have the sword). Keep his Steel Lance in case Forde, Kyle, or Ephraim are having difficulty during the chapter.
Use Forde and Kyle to take out enemy units while traveling north, keeping Ephraim and Orson behind (if the player does NOT want any of the chest items, Ephraim and Orson should follow behind the cavaliers) to grab chest items. Afterward, head east and have the group meet up there. The path splits at this point, so be aware that enemies will be coming from both sides. Since turn count doesn't have any effect on the game, you can either remain idle and defend (station units at the front of each flank) or charge down the enemies. At this point, you should have traded Orson's Steel Lance to Forde or Ephraim (preferably Forde, as the Javelin is likely almost broken, and the Steel Lance deals much more damage). Take out all enemies on both sides (Forde and Ephraim on the right side, Orson and Kyle on the left is a good method to use).
After ALL enemy units (except the boss) on BOTH sides have been taken out (if either Forde or Kyle retreats, use Orson, as it will not impact the game significantly), regroup near the throne. You can take out the boss with any unit (Forde or Kyle with Javelin can easily weaken Zonta); however, Orson should not be used to kill him, as this wastes EXP. Ephraim can easily take out the boss with Reginleif (use Forde's Javelin first for best results).
Trivia
- This chapter is the only sidequest in The Sacred Stones, and there are no requirements in order to reach it.
