Plot
- Main article: The Leader's Stratagem/Script
Claude leads Alliance forces to surround Ferdinand and wipe out his men before he can escape to Imperial territory. Meanwhile, Hubert informs Edelgard that he has contracted several promising mercenary companies to reinforce Ferdinand and enable them to retreat. He sends Holst to attempt to convince Ferdinand to surrender peacefully, but his pleas fall on deaf ears. Battle is joined, and Jeralt's Mercenaries (including Byleth and Alois) arrive to aid the Imperial forces. Shez is able to drive them back, forcing Imperial general Ladislava to sacrifice herself so that Ferdinand can retreat. In the aftermath, Shez laments the fact that Ferdinand and Byleth escaped, but Arval reassures them. Claude declares victory now that the Empire has been expelled from the Alliance and decides to counterinvade Adrestia in order to seize the fertile farmlands of Bergliez territory and ensure the Alliance's safety. Lorenz confronts Count Gloucester over leaving him locked out of the loop regarding the latter's feigned betrayal, and Count Gloucester states that he wanted to keep Lorenz's hands clean. Count Gloucester abdicates his title and formally declares Lorenz his successor.
