Talk:Onmyoji

From Fire Emblem Wiki, your source on Fire Emblem information. By fans, for fans.

Should information about the onmyouji class from Fates be split from this page? It has a totally different name with a different meaning (it's something in ancient Japan). PikaSamus (talk) 23:42, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

"Kitoushi" (祈禱師) actually means "shaman" and that's what the FE2 translation went with, so IMO the FE2 information should be merged into Shaman and then, once localization details come in, we change the FE14 information. Either way, "exorcist" was always pretty off the mark for both. --PA (talk) 04:55, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
Google gives "Exorcist" as the primary meaning of 祈祷師. JP wikipedia seems to say they're shamans, though. PikaSamus (talk) 21:12, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
Right, mea culpa. Both are valid meanings depending on context, which I figure is the important part here. FE2's kitoushi clearly aren't doing much in the way of exorcisms, aren't they? Admittedly their actions aren't all that shamanish either, but then that wasn't really true for the GBA-era shamans either. --PA (talk) 23:57, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
