Skirmish in the Fog is the fifth chapter of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes on the Scarlet Blaze route.

Edelgard sends Count Bergliez east to battle the Alliance lords loyal to the Church and personally heads west to face the Kingdom. Hubert informs her that Count Rowe has prematurely raised arms against the Kingdom and his bannerman Lonato is seeking Rhea's head. Edelgard elects to rescue them in order to ensure that other potential defectors will be confident that the Empire will protect them. Afterwards, Hubert approaches Shez to discuss their powers. He explains that Lord Arundel's true identity is Thales, and that Shez's abilities are derived from dark magic. Edelgard arrives and expresses her faith in Shez.
The Imperial forces ride to Magdred Way, rescue Lonato, and drive off Kingdom forces led by Ingrid and supported by Jeralt's Mercenaries. Afterwards, Shez laments the fact that Byleth escaped, but Arval reassures them. Edelgard orders Randolph to hold Arianrhod and informs the Black Eagles that the Alliance "defectors" have double-crossed them and Count Bergliez is cut off behind enemy lines. She decides to retake the Great Bridge of Myrddin and break through the cordon to rescue Count Bergliez. In Leicester, Count Bergliez rallies his troops for battle. Claude, lamenting that his plan to get the upper hand against the Empire with a minimum amount of bloodshed is a bust, decides to starve them out.

In the main battle, Lonato is located in the Southeastern-most stronghold, so head there as soon as you can. Ingrid will attack you along the route south, and should ideally be taken out by one of the player's archers. Successfully providing support to Lonato will get the fog removed, so you do not need to directly engage the mages. After helping Lonato, Jeralt's Mercenaries and Alois will appear. Defeating Byleth is optional, but defeating Jeralt and Alois will successfully complete the mission.
