Sacred Seals (Japanese: 聖印 Sacred Seal) are a type of skill item that appear in Fire Emblem Heroes. Sacred Seals are passive skills that can be equipped on units to a dedicated slot in addition to their three permanent passive skills, denoted by a gold S next to the skill's icon; for this reason, Sacred Seal skills may be known as type-S skills.
The actual workings of Sacred Seals are reminiscent of that of the scrolls of Radiant Dawn, in that Sacred Seals on a character can be freely removed and re-equipped to a different character.
For certain skills, if a character equips a Sacred Seal version of a passive skill they already possess, the effects can stack; for example, if one were to equip the Breath of Life 1 Sacred Seal on a Julia that already knows Breath of Life 1 in their type-C slot, the two instances together will restore 6 HP to damaged adjacent allies at the end of any combat Julia initiated, 3 HP from Julia's type-C instance and 3 HP from the Sacred Seal instance. Hone, Fortify, Ploy, and Smoke skills cannot stack with their respective Sacred Seal versions. Deflect skills can stack with similar skills such as the effect of Urvan or Divine Tyrfing; however, they stack multiplicatively. For example, a Sigurd equipped with both Divine Tyrfing and Deflect Magic 3 would have his total magic damage taken on a second consecutive hit reduced by a total of 96%; if Sigurd is struck by an attack that would deal 50 magical damage, the damage taken is first reduced by 80% to 10 damage, and then the remaining 10 damage is reduced again by 80%, for a total of 2 damage dealt.
There are multiple ways to obtain Sacred Seals. Some Sacred Seals can be won by completing certain quests; for example, defeating a single enemy during a specified period in late September/early October 2017 rewarded players an HP +3 Sacred Seal. Others can be won in both the full-specification Tempest Trials and its smaller variant Tempest Trials Mini; for example, scoring enough points in the first two instances Masked Marth has been available, once in a full-specification trial and again in a Mini, rewarded players with a Quickened Pulse Sacred Seal. The Squad Assault line rewards its own line of Sacred Seals for clearing any of the Assault groups. Most Sacred Seals are also available to be created at the Sacred Seal Forge in exchange for Badges and Sacred Coins, and a number of Sacred Seals are only available in this fashion; a number of Sacred Seals cannot be created at the Sacred Seal Forge, most notably the Squad Ace line obtained via Squad Assault.
Only one of a particular skill tree's Sacred Seal may be in the player's possession at any time. Should a player meet the qualifications for a second copy of a particular Sacred Seal (i.e. having earned the September/October 2017 quest HP +3 skill having already earned one having killed five enemies in an August/September 2017 quest), the duplicate will be instantly exchanged for 300 Hero Feathers.

Sacred Seal Forge
The Sacred Seal Forge (Japanese: 聖印生成・聖印党醒 Sacred Seal Creation - Sacred Seal Awakening), accessible to players who have completed the first Intermission, A Power Awakens, is where players can build Sacred Seals in exchange for 20 normal-sized Badges, 100 Great-sized Badges, and a number of Sacred Coins that depends on the skill (currently ranging from 10 to 50), with one particular color of Badges required based on the skill, but it is also where players can strengthen multiple-tier Sacred Seals into their higher tiers. Every Sacred Seal to date except Quickened Pulse (one), Iote's Shield (one), and Drive Def (two) has three tiers available; like all other passive skills, the higher the tier of a Sacred Seal, the stronger effect its skill provides. In the case of a three-tier Sacred Seal, the process of forging a second-tier Sacred Seal requires the first-tier Sacred Seal, 200 regular-sized Badges and 60 Great-sized Badges of the same color (depending on the skill), and 50 Sacred Coins; the process of forging a third-tier Sacred Seal requires the second-tier Sacred Seal, 1000 regular-sized badges and 400 Great-sized badges of the same color as was previously required for that skill, and 100 Sacred Coins. A two-tier Sacred Seal forges its second-tier in the same fashion a three-tier Sacred Seal forges its third tier, with the 1000 normal/400 Great badge cost on top of the first-tier Sacred Seal.
