The Marksman (Japanese: 神射手サジタリー Sagittary) is an advanced infantry class which is exclusive to Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It is a rare third-tier promoted class and the final stage in the Archer class change line, promoting from the Sniper class. The only weapons it can wield are bows, also having rare access to crossbows.

The defining characteristic of Marskmen is their exceptional accuracy with their bows, since they tie with the Trueblade and Assassin for the highest maximum skill stat among beorc classes in Radiant Dawn. Between that skill stat and a natural bonus to their critical rate, they also have an impressive critical hit chance. Their other offensive stats are good, and their offensive prowess is improved further by gaining a boost to their range when fighting with ordinary bows, giving them the unique ability to attack up to three spaces away even if they are not wielding a longbow. However, they keep the standard vulnerability of bow-wielding units where, unless they are wielding a crossbow or the Double Bow, they cannot attack at melee range at all and cannot respond if enemies attack them close-up in enemy phase.

Japanese

神射手サジタリー

Officially romanized as Sagittary; literally "divine archer". In Radiant Dawn, all Japanese class names are spelled primarily in kanji (i.e. 神射手), with a foreign-language name in katakana applied as furigana (i.e. サジタリー) and used as the basis for the romanized name in the class roll.
"Sagittary" is an antiquated word for both an archer and a centaur, a half-man, half-horse hybrid which is often associated with archery (the word even descends from the Latin sagittarius, "archer"). "Sagittarius" is also the name of the ninth constellation of the western Zodiac, which is depicted as a bow-wielding centaur.
