Love and Loss/Script
Randolph's remains are returned to his younger sister Fleche. A man claiming to be an Imperial general describes how Claude set Randolph up to die, causing Fleche to swear revenge on Claude just as the "general" planned. Fleche hires several mercenaries to help her kill Claude, including Jeralt and Byleth. Jeralt gifts Byleth a sword he once used during his time as a Knight of Seiros. Meanwhile, the Golden Deer report that they have managed to avoid sparking further unrest in Leicester despite the transition to the Federation and declaration of war against Faerghus and the Central Church thanks to Judith and the bishop of the Eastern Church.
Claude and the Golden Deer depart for Faerghus. However, they are attacked by Fleche, her mercenaries, and the unidentified faction who orchestrated Monica's kidnapping two years prior. If Shez successfully kills Fleche without incapacitating Byleth, Jeralt orders his mercenaries to surrender and laments that his reputation is most likely shot due to his repeated failures against the Alliance/Federation. However, Claude offers to hire them, and Jeralt accepts. If Shez incapacitates Byleth, Jeralt attacks the Federation after Fleche's death in order to finish his mission, but Shez kills him. Byleth attacks the Federation troops, forcing Judith to sacrifice herself to drive them off. Afterwards, Byleth leaves Jeralt's Mercenaries in Alois' hands and gives control of their body to Sothis so that she can exact revenge on Shez. Either way, Claude realizes that Fleche was almost certainly not acting with Edelgard's approval and recommences his march towards Faerghus.
