Item (Equipment/Shield)

First game

Fire Emblem Gaiden

The Leather Shield (Japanese: 革の盾 Leather Shield) is an accessory item in the shield category of equipment that appears in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It is the first and weakest member of the standard line of shields, giving a small boost of 3 points to the defense stat of units who equip it. It is surpassed by the Iron, Steel, and Silver Shields, but unlike these shields it does not have a weight penalty. In Shadows of Valentia, it also teaches the Swap combat art, which gives its users the option of repositioning themselves and other allies during their turn.
