"CG image" is a Japanese media term used to describe digital artwork, often in the specific context of 2D digital art; in common parlance by western video game audiences, it is used to describe any artwork used in a video game outside the main presentation style of the game, regardless if the images were actually digital in origin. Since Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, the Fire Emblem series has made considerable use of such artwork for the purpose of cutscenes and opening sequences, providing further illustrative insight into the people and worlds of the series.
