The Black Knight (Japanese: 漆黒の騎士ダークナイト Dark Knight) is a third-tier advanced infantry class which is exclusive to Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. As its name suggests, this class is exclusive to the Black Knight in both his brief playable roles and his appearances as a boss, whereas in the preceding game, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, he was simply a General. It is a modified, more powerful version of the Marshall class available to other playable characters.

The Black Knight class possesses extremely fearsome HP, strength and defense, exceeding those of normal classes by a significant margin. The remainder of its stats are high, with even its speed, the closest thing it has to a weak point, being respectable. The class's strengths are improved even further by the Black Knight's signature weapon, Alondite, which not only sports increased range and great power but also gives a boost to its user's defense. Whenever he is playable, the Black Knight is literally impossible to defeat as no enemies are able to even deal 1 HP of damage to him, and when he appears as a boss in Part 4, defeating the Black Knight is an extended game of attrition where Ike must slowly build up damage on him while surviving his onslaught.

Trivia

• The Black Knight is one of only five playable classes in Radiant Dawn whose members can achieve multiple SS ranks. The others are the Light Priestess, Vanguard, Chancellor and Saint. Of these classes, the Saint is the only one which is not exclusive to a single character.
• The NTSC-U description erroneously states that the Black Knight wields Luna instead of Eclipse. This error occurred due to Luna and Eclipse sharing the same Japanese name. This was corrected in the PAL release.
• The English description erroneously refers to Daein's Four Riders as the "Four Horsemen". This error occurred due to "rider" and "horseman" both being valid translations of the Japanese term 駿.
• The Black Knight class shares all of its stats with a Marshall variant belonging to Zelgius. This variant is unused outside of cutscenes.
• The Black Knight class is one of only six classes to share its name with the character who bears it; the other character–class pairs to do this are Giffca, Grima, the Flame Emperor, the Death Knight, and The Immaculate One.

Black knights are usually portrayed as villainous figures who use this anonymity for misdeeds.
Japanese	漆黒の騎士ダークナイト	Officially romanized as Dark Knight; literally "Jet Black Knight" from the kanji with a hiragana character in the middle. In Radiant Dawn, all Japanese class names are spelled primarily in kanji (i.e. 漆黒の騎士), with a foreign-language name in katakana applied as furigana (i.e. ダークナイト) and used as the basis for the romanized name in the class roll.
