Amber: *Alpaca noises*
Alear: Huh?
Amber: Oh. Hey, Divine One!
Alear: Good evening, Amber. Did you hear those weird sounds just now? Was that you?
Amber: Sure was. I was calling out to my old alpaca friends back in my hometown.
Alear: Say again?
Amber: My hometown is a quaint little alpaca hamlet. I grew up surrounded by them! Sometimes I get a little homesick and miss my fuzzy friends on the ranch... On my loneliest nights, I come out here, look up at the starry sky, and call to them.
Alear: Ooh, so that's what that sound was...
Amber: Those were the cries of an alpaca! I'm calling out to them in their language.
Alear: Their...language?
Amber: I know. I know. It sounds crazy. There's no way they can hear me from so far away... But this is how I get the sads out! When I call to them, it feels like they're right by my side.
Alear: I don't think that's crazy. I'm sure your feelings are getting back to them somehow, Amber.
Amber: Aw! Thanks, Divine One. You're so nice!

Amber: *Alpaca noises*
Alear: Hello, Amber. Were you talking to the alpacas back home again?
Amber: Hey, Divine One! I sure was.
Alear: May I ask what you said to them just now?
Amber: Oh. I said, "How's it going, fellas?"
Alear: That's how you say that? Er, in the language of the alpacas?
Amber: Totally. If I'd asked that back on the ranch, they'd have answered right away.
Alear: Really?! That's pretty cute!
Amber: Yeah! It is! It's super cute! I never imagined I'd end up shouting back to them from so far away. Truth is, I didn't like my hometown very much. Middle of nowhere, nothing cool for miles... All I could think about was getting out of there. "Someday I'll leave this sty and become a hero!" Now that I've become a retainer, I've started to miss home a lot more. I get kinda lonely... Aw, shoot. Sorry. I didn't mean to whine.
Alear: It's OK. I'm here to listen. If you're lonely, I can stay with you for a while. I just hope I can be as fun to talk to as your alpaca friends back home.
Amber: Are you kidding? I'd love to keep talking! I can even teach you some more of the alpaca language if you want.
Alear: Sounds like fun.

A support

Amber: *Alpaca noises*
Alear: Don't tell me... Was that, "I'm sad, and I wish I could see you all again"?
Amber: D-Divine One?! When did you get here? How did you know what I was saying?
Alear: I've heard you chatting with them a lot. I guess I'm picking up some of the language.
Amber: For real?! Whoa.
Alear: Whoa!
Amber: Yeah! Whoa! Wait, what was your whoa for?
Alear: You didn't hear that just now? It sounded like the far-off cry of a real alpaca!
Amber: Aww, I missed it! What did they say?
Alear: I can't believe I'm saying this, but...I think they said, "We'll visit when we have a free weekend."
Amber: Really?! Aww! Those lovable furballs! I need to reply! Let me think... *Alpaca noises*
Alear: "Don't worry, friends. You're welcome to visit at any time..."
Amber: *Alpaca noises*
Alear: "But the Divine One is here, so I'm doing OK. Take care of yourselves." Did I get that right?
Amber: Yeah! That's exactly what I said! Incredible. It's like you're a native speaker! You really have the ears of an alpaca.
Alear: I'm honored to hear that.
Amber: This is great. Spending time with you makes me feel like I'm right back on the ranch.
Alear: Oh? So I remind you of a farm animal?
Amber: Huh? No! That's not what I meant! Sorry, that came out wrong.
Alear: It's OK, Amber. I'm glad you feel that way. I don't want a friend like you to feel lonely.
Amber: Whoa! Such intense kindness! Thanks, DD. You're the best.
Alear: *Alpaca noises*
Amber: Hmm... Let me guess. "You're welcome"?
Alear: You got it!

Amber: Here's my hometown...aaand this one is of my family's alpaca ranch back home...
Amber: You can probably guess this next one. Here's a hint: it's an alpaca!
Alear: I never knew you were so good at drawing, Amber. These illustrations are amazing.
Amber: Aw, thanks!
Alear: Looking through these is making me feel a little jealous.
Alear: It's clear you love and miss your hometown. I can't even remember where my home is...
Amber: Divine One... ... Your home is right here.
Alear: What? Right where?
Amber: Right here beside me!
Alear: Huh?!
Amber: Listen, Divine One! If you're a legendary sword, I'll be the legendary sheath that protects you!
Amber: If a battle leaves you dinged and scratched, I'll do everything I can to cover and heal you!
Amber: And I'll always carry you back home...safe and sound, a thousand times over.
Alear: Amber...
Alear: No. That won't do. I'm happy you feel this way, but I...
Amber: Y-you're right, Divine One. Sorry. That was way out of line, huh? Aw, man...
Alear: No! That's not what I meant. If I'm a sword, then so are you. We're fighting together!
Amber: Whoa...
Alear: You dream of being a legendary hero, right? Well, I want to help you realize that dream!
Amber: Divine One, I...
Alear: I want you to wear the Pact Ring, Amber. Will you do that for me?
Alear: All I need is a promise that you'll be a sword by my side.
Amber: Yeah! I mean, yes! If that's your condition, then count me in!
Alear: Let's build a peaceful world together, Amber.
Alear: And then, someday...I want to visit your alpaca ranch back home.
Amber: Of course! My hometown is your hometown.
Amber: Thank you, Divine One. I'm so overwhelmed right now. I don't know what to say...
Amber: Oh! I should let the alpacas back home know about this! They'll be thrilled!
Amber: *Alpaca noises*
Alear: Uh... That sounds like it might take a while. Save it for later! I want to be part of that too.
Alear: Besides, I'd rather have you present in this moment for just a bit longer, you know?
Amber: Oh! Sure thing, Divine Dragon !
Amber: We're twin blades now, bound together forever! Even if you regret it later! Which you won't!

Amber: Hey, Vander. Where do you keep the legendary weapons around here?
Vander: Legendary weapons? What in the world are you talking about, Amber?
Amber: I've always wanted a legendary weapon.
Amber: The Somniel seems to have lots of sacred spots. One of them must have a sword or something...
Vander: I do not waste my time on folklore and fluff.
Amber: Oh. So that's a no? Gotcha. I guess I'll just poke around and see if I find anything.
Vander: Actually...I suppose there is one surefire way to obtain a legendary weapon.
Amber: Really?! What is it? How can I get my hands on one? Please, Vander! You've gotta tell me.
Vander: Think. What is a legendary weapon, essentially?
Amber: Huh?
Vander: For a weapon to become a legend, a legendary hero must wield it first. Right?
Amber: Huh... Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
Vander: Well then, Sir Amber, all you must do is attain the moniker of legendary hero.
Amber: A legendary hero? Me? Yeah. Yeah! If I pull that off, my trusty lance...
Vander: It would become a legendary weapon. Correct.
Amber: WHOA-HO-HO-HOOO! Vander! You just blew my mind! I'm gonna do
exactly that. My legend starts right now!

Amber: Hnh... Hah... Not done yet... Have to...train more.
Vander: Well, well. How nice to see you working up a sweat at such an early hour, Sir Amber.
Amber: You bet. I've got to grow as strong as I can. I have to become a legend, just like you said. Then my lance will be a legendary weapon.
Vander: He took my brush-off seriously? He is either truly devoted...or a fool.
Amber: Hm? You say something?
Vander: I was, um, just wondering why you desire a legendary weapon so badly.
Amber: I grew up in a dull country town. Nothing to do, nothing to see. Stories were my only escape. My favorite was about this one hero who used a legendary weapon to defeat a giant monster.
Vander: Hmm...
Amber: I think about that story all the time. I want to be a hero like that...so I need a legendary weapon.
Vander: I see. If you are so dedicated, then...why not train with me?
Amber: Really?! You mean it? I would love that! You're so strong and cool-looking. I bet you do all kinds of crazy training.
Vander: Hmph. Just try to keep up. I will not hold back for your sake, "hero."

A support

Amber: Urgh...
Vander: Struggling already, hero? These are but core exercises. We have not even begun the sprints.
Amber: Ugh... I'm dyin' here, Vander. Do you always train this hard?
Vander: I do.
Amber: This is unbelievable. I'm barely able to keep up!
Vander: Is this it? What happened to your enthusiasm? I thought you wished to become a legend!
Amber: Oh... I'm too tired to defend myself. Ugh... If this is your routine, I'm pretty sure you're already a legend. Can I just have your weapon?
Vander: No! I told you, I have no interest in legendary weapons or being a legend myself. However... I see how hard your generation is working to better the world. THAT is the stuff of legends. You are dedicated, driven, and show incredible potential. Your own story has just begun. Keep reaching for that dream. If you do, your weapon will soon belong to a true legend.
Amber: Aw, Vander. I will! My weapon will be legendary, and so will I! Just like the stories I used to read as a kid.
Vander: An admirable goal...and one you will achieve sooner if you stop complaining. Understand?
Amber: Yes, sir. I'll keep training as hard as I can!

Alfred: Amber, got a sec?
Amber: Sure, Prince Alfred. What's up?
Alfred: People tell me you know a lot. Especially when it comes to rumors and myth.
Amber: Oh, totally! All legends are true if you choose to believe them...and I believe a LOT of 'em.
Alfred: Well, there's something I always wondered that maybe you could help me with. Have you ever heard a legend about a kind of medicine that makes you ultra-muscular?
Amber: Muscular?
Alfred: No, ULTRA-muscular.
Amber: Huh... No, I don't think I've heard that legend.
Alfred: Damn. I thought if anybody might know more, it'd be you.
Amber: Well, now that I've heard about it from you, I can't just ignore it. I have to know! I'll uncover the legend of that muscle-boosting medicine no matter what!
Alfred: Really? You're a peach, Amber!
Amber: Aw, no sweat. I live for this lore-y, legend-y stuff. I'll start poking around right now! Hey, muscles! Yeah, you with the big arms! How'd you get so huge?
Amber leaves.
Alfred: Now we're getting somewhere. If there's anyone you can trust to get it done, it's Amber!

B support

Amber: Even the sharpest lance will bend and warp. A thousand arrows will bounce right off. Just one of these pills will turn your muscles to pure steel and your body into a fortress. That's the power of the legendary muscle-boosting medicine...Suprotein!
Alfred: Suprotein?
Amber: Yep.
Alfred: Not doubting you here, but...that name makes this whole thing seem unbelievable.
Amber: Oh-ho! But that's exactly how legends work. Bizarre names. Vague clues. Following your gut instincts into the unknown... This is how legends transform into epic quests! What's it gonna be, Prince Alfred? Are you ready to follow your dreams and embark on the adventure of a lifetime? This quest is worth undertaking as long as you believe it is! Do you believe, Prince Alfred?
Alfred: You're darn right I believe! You've worked too hard tracking this down for me to doubt you. All right then, where do we find this Suprotein?
Amber: OK, I have everything we need to get started. Let's see... From here, it'll take about a year to reach the medicine's location.
Alfred: Why so long?
Amber: It comes in a pill that can only be found on this one mountaintop that pokes above the clouds.
Alfred: This doesn't sound like an easy trip. I don't think now is the time for me to be ducking out. I hate to say it, but I might have to put this muscle quest on hold for now.
Amber: Oh. I guess you're right. Man, I really hyped this one up without thinking, huh? Sorry.
Alfred: What are you talking about? You just gave me the best gift of all!
Amber: I did?
Alfred: Something to work toward─a dream.
Amber: Whoa! Yes, Prince Alfred! I love that!
Alfred: Haha, glad you're back on board.

A support

Amber: Morning, Prince Alfred!
Alfred: Morning, Amber!
Amber: You're up pretty early again.
Alfred: It's never too early for a workout.
Amber: You're amazing, Prince Alfred. You never miss a day of training, do you? I don't know how you do it.
Alfred: It's simple─workouts are fun. It's like you and your myth-chasing. Even when that gets tough, you never give up, right?
Amber: Huh. Yeah, that's true.
Alfred: Besides, I can't afford not to stay in shape.
Amber: Oh, sure! Because we're in the middle of a war.
Alfred: True! But I'm looking ahead to after the war too.
Amber: What do you mean?
Alfred: What? Did you forget the dream already?
Amber: Huh?
Alfred: At the peak of some far-off mountain is every weight lifter's dream. If I'm gonna build the strength to get there, I've gotta start training now.
Amber: Wait, you mean the Suprotein legend? I thought you gave up on that!
Alfred: Nah, I put it on hold. Big difference. I might still go after it once the war's done. It's a reason to keep going. Can't fall before I get my hands on the prize, right?
Amber: But...Prince Alfred... You'd do all this prep when there isn't a single shred of evidence that Suprotein is real?
Alfred: It doesn't matter. A dream's not about facts. It's about believing.
Amber: Yes! Totally! That's exactly how I feel! Chasing legends is the best!
Alfred: Haha, I'm just having fun in life. That's all.
Amber: Me too! I want to have that exact kind of fun! Can I train with you? I also believe in Suprotein...so let me chase that legend too!
Alfred: Sure! I'd love to have you aboard. We may be from different kingdoms, but we can still share the same dream.
Amber: Prince Alfred, if you get any cooler, my head's gonna explode!

Chloé: Heh, what's got you so riled up?
Amber: You've heard of the Fountain of Youth, right? Y'know, from those fairy tales you love?
Chloé: Oh, those are some of the best stories. But why do you ask?
Amber: Hahaha! Brace yourself... I got my hands on the only map to its hidden location!
Chloé: Wow... That's unbelievable! Especially since the Fountain of Youth isn't real. Why would it be on a map?
Amber: That's exactly it! That's why this is so amazing. If it doesn't exist, then why do I have a map that shows its precise location?! So? Whaddaya say, Chloé? Wanna join me on a quest to find the Fountain of Youth? You know all about this fairy-tale stuff. If we team up, we'll be unstoppable!
Chloé: Sure, I'll tag along. Maybe on the way, we'll see some nice landscapes right out of a fairy tale.
Amber: Really?! Great! Thanks! I can't wait. Let's go find that fountain!

B support

Chloé: Well, I think the spring is lovely. And doesn't that cool water feel nice?
Amber: Yeah... I guess. But this isn't the Fountain of Youth!
Chloé: Haha, that's all right. Yes, this is a normal spring, but you're still so young. You don't need the Fountain of Youth.
Amber: That's not the point. We came here on a quest to find a legendary fountain. I can't believe this stupid map was a fake the whole time. Ugh... I'm such a sucker.
Chloé: Aww, don't feel down, Amber.
Amber: I also can't believe you're so chipper about this, Chloé.
Chloé: Even if it's not the Fountain of Youth, I'm happy enough to visit such a beautiful spring. It's so lovely that it might have inspired the tales of the Fountain of Youth to begin with.
Amber: Hmm. I guess it is a beautiful little spring...
Chloé: Right? So don't be sad. Besides, I packed some food we can eat while we take in the scenery.
Amber: You did?! Aw, yeah! Good move, Chloé. You always think ahead. Pretty scenery, a tasty lunch... This is turning out more like a weekend picnic or something. Woo! Weekend picnic! Wait a second. You... You planned this all along, didn't you? You knew this quest would be a dud!
Chloé: Hahaha! Does it matter?
Amber: Nah. I'm too hungry to stay mad now. Bring on the grub!
Chloé: Here you go. One plate of dried fish eyeballs, just for you.
Amber: Aaaugh! One of your funky folk-food lunches? Now this quest is definitely a dud...

A support

Amber: Heeey! Hey, Chloé!
Chloé: Hi, Amber. In a good mood today, huh?
Amber: Ooo, I sure am. Wait until you hear this. I found another map...and this one leads to a forbidden labyrinth! It's a legendary maze of tunnels and pits that's supposed to lead to the other side of the world.
Chloé: Unbelievable! Where did you get this map from?
Amber: This sweet little street vendor guy said it was─ get this─my destiny to buy it from him. He was grinning the whole time. He must have sensed my passion for seeking out legends!
Chloé: Hah, I'm sure he did.
Amber: Don't worry, Chloé. I won't invite you to join me this time.
Chloé: Oh. How come? Did you not like the lunch I prepared for our last adventure?
Amber: What? No! That was a really nice meal...once I got past the eyeballs. I just feel like I dragged you on a wild fountain chase, y'know? I'm super sure this map is real...but I'll check it out myself just to be super, super sure.
Chloé: That's too bad. I would have liked to join you.
Amber: What? You're serious?
Chloé: Of course! After all, we're not really out to find some mystical, legendary ruin, right? We're out to have a fun time looking for it! Just like the heroes in stories.
Amber: Whoa! That's exactly why quests are the best. You totally get me!
Chloé: Sure. I've seen how your eyes sparkle as we close in on the X on your map.
Amber: In that case... Chloé, would you care to join me on another legendary quest?
Chloé: Definitely. And this time, I'll pack some extra-special lunches for us.
Amber: Great! Just, uh...go easy on the folk food, OK?

Amber: Prince Diamant! Check this out. I got my hands on a legendary secret potion! One whiff of this baby is supposed to make you spill your deepest, truest feelings...
Diamant: Amazing. We could use this to extract plans and information from enemies. Well done, Amber!
Amber: Thanks! I'll go put it somewhere safe. I would hate for something to happ─ Waaagh!
Diamant: Oh. There goes that bottle. You OK?
Amber: Ugh... Prince Diamant... I... I must tell you how I feel.
Diamant: Oh no. You must have caught some of the fumes from that potion.
Amber: Prince Diamant... Thank you so much for letting me be your retainer. If it weren't for you...I'd probably be on an alpaca ranch. I'm so grateful to you and respect you so, so much. Like, really a lot. I think you're the greatest, because...b-because you...ugh. Ugh. Huh?
Diamant: Amber?
Amber: What's up, Prince Diamant? Wait, was I just talking a bunch? My head feels fuzzy.
Diamant: You don't remember? The potion worked. You were pouring your heart out just now.
Amber: Whoa! No way! What did I say?
Diamant: Well...it would be embarrassing to repeat, to be honest. Let's talk about this later.
Amber: Oh. Sure. Understood. I'll, uh, talk to you later.

B support

Diamant: Hey, Amber. I'm ready to talk about that secret potion incident.
Amber: Oh, right! I can't wait to hear what I said.
Diamant: So, you said you're grateful to me and you respect me─an extreme amount, apparently.
Amber: Haha, is that all? Aw, you knew that stuff already!
Diamant: True. You're not shy about that. You've gone out of your way to save me many times. But there was something else you said... Something about how, if it weren't for me, you would probably be on an alpaca ranch?
Amber: Yeah, that checks out. My family owns an alpaca ranch back home. That's all my hometown has─alpacas and cliffs. To become a big hero, I knew I'd have to leave. You opened a path for me to become that hero as your retainer. That's why I'm so grateful.
Diamant: I see. Well, it's a shame that secret potion is gone, but at least it wasn't a total loss. I was a bit embarrassed in the moment, but I got to hear your deepest, truest feelings.
Amber: Yeah. I'm kind of embarrassed too, but I'm glad I got a chance to share my appreciation. Was that it? Did I say anything else?
Diamant: Now that you mention it, there was one last thing before you snapped out of it. You said you thought I was "the greatest," but trailed off before explaining why. What were you going to say after that?
Amber: Hm. That's a tough one. I do think you're really great, Prince Diamant...for lots of reasons. I'm not sure what the deepest, truest reason is... Can I think about this for a while?
Diamant: Please do.

A support

Diamant: Amber, please don't leave me in suspense any longer. I need to know what you meant before.
Amber: You mean about the "deepest, truest" reason why I think you're the greatest?
Diamant: Indeed.
Amber: I think I've got it. I was gonna say, "You're the greatest...because you're like a human alpaca!"
Diamant: What? An alpaca?!
Amber: Yeah! I've felt that about you since day one, so that has to be it.
Diamant: Since day one?
Amber: It was the day of the tournament, remember? My family didn't want me to enter, but I did. I lost to Jade...but got second place! Folks back home called it the "alpaca-country miracle."
Diamant: I don't remember you being quite as thrilled at the time. Didn't you leave the arena weeping?
Amber: Yeah... I wanted to be the champion so bad. I was sobbing in a corner when you walked over and asked me to be your second retainer. You were smiling down at me so gently... That was when it hit me. This man...has the soul of an alpaca.
Diamant: THAT was what hit you?
Amber: I decided, right then and there, to stand beside you and protect you.
Diamant: ...
Amber: What's up? Why the funny face?
Diamant: I'm just...not sure which parts of me make you think of an alpaca.
Amber: Oh. Well, it's a few things. How can I explain... You're kind, you put me at ease, and I want to protect you. And you're all light and fluffy!
Diamant: Did you just call me...light and fluffy?
Amber: I know. High praise. Not everyone understands how strongly I admire alpacas.
Diamant: So, it's a compliment...
Amber: Totally.
Diamant: Huh. OK... I'll track down another secret potion. Then I'll know if you're being honest with me.
Amber: Huh?!
Diamant: Haha! I'm joking. If you say you feel that strongly, I believe you. It's an honor to be held in alpaca-level regard. I'm glad you're my retainer, Amber.
Amber: Thanks, Prince Diamant. It's an honor to stand with you. That's the truth─no potion required!

Jade: Amber, may I ask you a few personal questions? I need some new material for my next novel.
Amber: Oh! You're gonna write a book about me? Oh man! I love that! Fire away.
Jade: I'll start with an easy one. What's your all-time favorite thing?
Amber: Is that a serious question? Come on! Alpacas all the way! They're the best. I used to herd alpacas all the time back home. I'm like an alpaca-wrangling master, y'know?
Jade: "Alpaca-wrangling master." Amazing.
Amber: I'm serious! If there was an alpaca here right now, I'd give you a demonstration. But we're miles away from the nearest alpaca farm, so...
Jade: Wait. What is that sound?
Amber: That's the sound of an alpaca at full gallop! Ah!
Jade: You're right! I can see it now, and it's coming this way!
Amber: OK, Jade! You wanted material, you're gonna get it. Watch the wrangling master in action. Hey! Alpaca! Slow it down, buddy! Whoa, there! I said settle down! AUGH! Waaaaaah!
Jade: Amber!

Amber: Ugh... Getting knocked into a pond wasn't what I wanted to show you.
Jade: I can't believe an alpaca came out of nowhere like that. I'm just glad we were able to catch it.
Amber: You mean YOU caught it. All I managed to catch was a mouthful of scummy water. I can't even compete with you at something I'm genuinely good at... Ngh...
Jade: Amber, don't despair. There is a silver lining. The alpaca, the pond, your flailing... Thanks to you, my next book is sure to be hilarious.

B support

Jade: Hey, Amber. I'm still a few chapters short. May I ask you some more questions?
Amber: Hang on, Jade. First, I have a request for you. Please, please don't write about how I completely failed to catch that alpaca!
Jade: Wha─
Amber: My hometown is known for its alpaca expertise. I can't throw that kind of shame on them! I was so bogged down by emotions and pond water that I failed to ask before. So...pleeease?
Jade: This comes as a bit of a shock. I won't make you a promise that I can't keep, Amber. You've inspired my funniest, most successful works. People are excited for the next one...
Amber: OK, then... Let's spar. If I win, you can't write anything about the alpaca-puddle incident!
Jade: Fine by me. You're on.
Amber: This will be our first sparring match since the tourney to select Prince Diamant's retainers... That was also the first time I lost to you. I've been stuck in second place ever since. That loss was like a curse. No matter what I do, I can't seem to beat you at anything.
Jade: Well, you did enter the final round of that tournament at a disadvantage. You didn't have any time to warm up. You were too busy trying to help that lost child.
Amber: That's no excuse! You ended up helping too. You even found the kid's parents first.
Jade: Hmm, I take your point.
Amber: You're the one who's always finding success, and I'm the one who's always tripping up. That runaway alpaca was the last straw. My second-place streak ends today! Get ready, Jade. There's no way I'm losing to you again.

Jade: Had enough?
Amber: Aw... I just can't do it. I really can't beat you, Jade. It's...it's hopeless...
Jade: You remember our terms? I won, so I'm free to put whatever I want in my next novel.
Amber: Yeah, I remember. You beat me fair and square, so...write about whatever you want.
Jade: That's just what I'm going to do. But I'll make sure you're the first to read it when I'm done.

Jade: My novel is complete, Amber. As I mentioned earlier, I'd like for you to be the first to read it.
Amber: Oh, great... You really know how to rub it in, y'know? Fine. Let's see how embarrassed I'm gonna be... Hmm... Hmm! Jade...what is this?
Jade: Hm.
Amber: Is this... Is this book still based on me?
Jade: Of course. Everything in that book is based on something you've shared with me.
Amber: But where's the alpaca-pond incident? I can't find a single embarrassing page in here. This book makes me seem so...so cool!
Jade: You're not stuck in second place, Amber. You were the first one to try stopping that stray alpaca. You were the first one to go looking for that lost child's parents at the fighting tournament. I may be the one who closes the book each time, but only after you've opened it for me.
Amber: Whoa.
Jade: You're kind. You're strong. And both Prince Diamant and I trust in you as a worthy retainer.
Amber: ... Aw, Jade! Thank you! Your kind words... This great book... I feel so much better.
Jade: I'm glad. After all, you need to have confidence if you're going to watch our backs in battle.
Amber: Yeah... Yeah! That settles it. I'm gonna keep training until I match the "me" in your book.
Jade: Oh, I'm very excited to watch you try.
Amber: OK, no more coasting. It's time to train like I've never trained before! I'm gonna─ Gah! A rock?! Waaaugh!
Jade: ... Hm! Amazing. Looks like your training is off to a "rocky start." I have no doubt you'll grow stronger, Amber... but I hope some things about you never change.

Zelkov: Amber, I wish to *speak* with you.
Amber: You? The retainer of the crown princess? Of Elusia? You want to talk to ME? I can tell you right now, if you're fishing for intel on Brodia stuff, I am not your target.
Zelkov: No, no. It is not a *political* matter. It is rather more *personal* than that.
Amber: Oh no. What do you want with me? Is it a fight? I haven't even done anything to you!
Zelkov: I require the *wool* of an alpaca.
Amber: Huh?
Zelkov:Specifically, I require the wool that comes froma *particular* alpaca hamlet. I have been led to believe you are *familiar* with this place. You should be aware, then, that the *wool* from there is finer than any other.
Amber: Yeah, that's true. The alpacas back home are extra furry and SUPER fluffy.
Zelkov: I must have it, Amber. You must *procure* it for me.
Amber: Well, I could send a letter back home. They'd ship some here for sure...but what's it for?
Zelkov: It will be put toward the purpose of *knitting.*
Amber: Whoa. You like to knit, Zelkov? I never, ever would have guessed that.
Zelkov: It should not *surprise* you that I pursue a craft of such delicate grace and elegance. To the point, I require the highest-quality alpaca wool to craft my *ultimate* masterpiece.
Amber: I'm into it! If it's just for crafting, I'll get you a bunch of the stuff. No sweat. Besides, I've gotta see what you make with it. I bet it's gonna be weird.
Zelkov: Thank you, Amber. I am grateful for your *assistance* in this matter.

B support

Amber: Sorry to keep you waiting, Zelkov! Guess what just arrived? It's the alpaca wool from home!
Zelkov: Most excellent. With respect to *fluff,* it surpasses my wildest expectations.
Amber: Of course it does! Alpaca wool is warm, light, and super tough. It's the perfect material!
Zelkov: This is indeed the finest. The creation of my*ultimate* masterpiece is now assured. When all the knitting world lays eyes upon my work, Amber, *you* will have their gratitude.
Amber: My family knits things with alpaca wool too. See my sweater under here? My dad made this!
Zelkov: I see. Now, as to the matter of *payment...*
Amber: Oh, I don't need any money. Consider it a gift!
Zelkov: One must give payment for services rendered. Otherwise, one has incurred a *debt.*
Amber: Really, it's fine. When I wrote to my folks about you, they were happy to send the wool. I told them you wanted to craft with our farm's famous fuzzy stuff, and they said it was free! You wouldn't turn down an act of kindness from some humble alpaca farmers, would you?
Zelkov: If it is for the sake of the ones who provided it to me, then *reluctantly* I will accept. But they shall have a token of my gratitude. A sweater of *pristine* craftsmanship. I can express the true extent of my appreciation *only* by surpassing the quality of their craft.
Amber: Whoa! I bet the folks at home would be thrilled to get a sweater knit by you, Zelkov.
Zelkov: Then it is decided. I will not rest until the whole of your family *marvels* at what I produce.

A support

Zelkov: My great work is *complete,* Amber. This is what I will send to your family.
Amber: Whoa! Zelkov! I can't believe it. The stitching... The craftsmanship... This is the most perfect sweater I've ever seen! It even beats my own family's work!
Zelkov: I have now *expressed* my gratitude. Farewell.
Amber: Hey, Zelkov! Wait!
Zelkov: Hm? Do you have some *additional* business?
Amber: I really mean it. You just surpassed generations of homegrown knitting skills in a single sweater. I know you put a lot of effort into it...but there has to be a secret. How did you do it?
Zelkov: Idle pursuits provide me a reason to continue living. They are a *failsafe,* of sorts.
Amber: What, like a...back-up plan?
Zelkov: To me, the most frightening prospect is to live without purpose. To be *empty* of motivation. My current purpose is to *safeguard* Princess Ivy. But that is only until peace has been won. That is why I require a *failsafe*─a secondary purpose in which to find meaning.
Amber: Whoa. That sounds intense... I mean, I have my own goals, but I mostly just have fun every day.
Zelkov: In that respect, Amber, I *envy* you.
Amber: Listen, Zelkov... If you really do lose your reason for living when the war ends... Why don't you move to my old hometown? Y'know, the alpaca hamlet.
Zelkov: What *purpose* would that serve?
Amber: Are you kidding? With knitting skills like yours, folks would be throwing money at you. You could make clothes and decorations out of alpaca wool and pet actual alpacas all day!
Zelkov: I do see a certain...*appeal* in that.
Amber: You should definitely visit first. Y'know, get a feel for things before you put down roots? My whole family─including me─would welcome you with open arms and hugs to spare!
Zelkov: Very well. I can commit to a *visit,* certainly. Whatever the future may hold, we can have at least that much to look forward to.

Amber: Ugh, I have to check that place out, but it's too dangerous to go by myself...
Panette: Pardon me, but I couldn't help overhearing... Are you planning a trip somewhere?
Amber: Listen to this, Panette. There are rumors about a nearby forest that hides an old mansion...
Panette: Oh? I have never heard of this place.
Amber: Me neither! I just learned about it. According to local legends, a famous knight lived there. He was a brave and noble warrior who fought as if he would never die...right up until he died. The very next day, people say the knight's spirit could be seen wandering inside the mansion...
Panette: How extraordinary!
Amber: Poor guy doesn't know he died! Now he roams his own halls as a shadow of his former self.
Panette: Would that not make him...a ghost?
Amber: Oh, huh... Well, if you want to get all technical about it, then sure.
Panette: Why, I should like to see this place for myself! I adore ghosts.
Amber: You do?! Great! Let's check it out together. That'll be way, way easier than checking it out all by myself. Even Prince Diamant turned me down─and he's not afraid of anything!
Panette: Then pray bring me along. I can think of nothing that would make me happier.
Amber: Yes! That settles it. Just don't blame me if you get scared out of your big, pointy boots!

B support

Amber: We made it! We've arrived at the mansion. Ah...I'm trembling. My heart is pounding. I've got goosebumps!
Panette: Hmm... Nary a ghost in sight... Let us keep going and explore further.
Amber: Whoa, whoa! Slow down. You don't want to rush this. The ghost could be hiding anywhere...
Panette: Oh, really? Like where?
Amber: Mwa ha haaa... Why, the ghost could even be...right HEEERE!
Panette: Hm? Are you certain? I see nothing.
Amber: Uh... Oh, never mind. I was just trying to play a little trick on you, Panette. You didn't even flinch! You must have nerves of pure steel. Anyway, maybe this place isn't haunted after all.
Panette: Hmm?
Amber: I'm happy the mansion part of the rumors held up, but...a wandering ghost? I just don't see it.
Panette: It is here...
Amber: Aw, Panette! That's the spirit. Normally I'd be holding out hope too, but...
Panette: No, Amber. It is here.
Amber: Oh! I get you. I guess every house does have its own ghost, in a poetic way. That's really─
Panette: That is not what I meant. It is HERE! As in...THERE! Look!
Amber: Do what now? Whoa... Whoa. WHOA!

A support

Amber: Hey, Panette. I won't tell anyone about that "haunted mansion" incident if you don't... The rumors didn't say anything about a second, perfectly normal mansion being out there!
Panette: Yes...and they were not exactly pleased to have company. How mortifying.
Amber: I wish that was all. I thought that stuffy guy was the legendary knight! I shook his hand... I already told Prince Diamant. He laughed until he cried. Called me "the legendary knucklehead."
Panette: The legendary knucklehead, you say... Hahaha! That's not bad!
Amber: Oh, fine. Laugh it up. I should really learn to keep my big mouth shut... I'm really sorry I dragged you into that mess.
Panette: Think nothing of it. I had a rather good time.
Amber: You did? Even though we didn't see a ghost?
Panette: Yes, well, that was unfortunate. I have a number of interests that other people find strange. Ghosts, for example. You are much the same in that respect. Some might consider you an odd duck, but... I like odd ducks!
Amber: Huh. That doesn't FEEL like a compliment...
Panette: Why, of course it is!
Amber: Oh! Well, great! I was worried you regretted it, because...I was really glad you went with me, Panette. I don't know many people who enjoy chasing rumors and legends and stuff. If you ever need an adventure buddy to check out a legend of your own, just say the word.
Panette: I know a legendary spot we can go to.
Amber: You do? Where?!
Panette: A restaurant with very, very spicy food.
Amber: Uh, is the food enchanted? Or was it built on an ancient burial ground? Or...
Panette: They have a dish called the Tongue Melter... It's so hot, no one has ever finished an entire bowl!
Amber: Ooh, it's that kind of legend. Well, a legend is a legend. Count me in─and I'll foot the bill! Least I can do.
Panette: Huzzah!

Merrin: Amber, I have a question. How does a knight from the kingdom of Brodia train?
Amber: Why do you want to know about that?
Merrin: To be honest, I've always admired Brodian knights, and I'm just curious... Your country is called the kingdom of warriors, so your training methods must be extraordinary.
Amber: We do crank out a lot of strong warriors, but I think that's due to the terrain... Most of Brodia is just cliffs and ravines. It's not great for traditional farming, y'know? The focus in many villages is on mining and such, so folks tend to grow sturdy and strong.
Merrin: I see! So strength training is just part of daily life, then?
Amber: For most people, yeah! I grew up on an alpaca ranch, so my daily chores were a bit different.
Merrin: Alpacas?! Those rare critters of notoriety?! That's fantastic! I adore critters with all my heart─rare ones especially! If you worked on a ranch, you must know all about them. Please, tell me what you know!
Amber: Well, first off, alpacas are super fluffy... But also? They're really cute. There is a lot of spitting, though. You have to watch out for that.
Merrin: Spitting?! Magnificent! I'm sure I wouldn't mind alpaca spit one bit.
Amber: Trust me, you would. It takes forever to get the smell out of your clothes. Or hair. I don't mean to brag, but I've become an expert alpaca-spit dodger. Hah! Hoowah! That's just a couple of your basic spit-evasion moves... Wha─ Ah! AAH! Aw, why do rocks always sabotage my cool moves?
Merrin: I'd expect nothing less from a Brodian knight! Very impressive.
Amber: Huh?
Merrin: Brodian knights aren't just strong, they're spry enough to pull off a pratfall. Well played! You really must teach me the secret to your strength sometime soon.
Amber: Uh, you enjoyed that? Then...yeah, that was all planned! I am the picture of strength and agility.

B support

Merrin: Amber! I was hoping you'd teach me the secret to that Brodian strength of yours.
Amber: It's not much of a secret. Like I said earlier, it was mostly physical labor back on the ranch.
Merrin: Huh... It sounds like building up endurance is important, then?
Amber: Oh, for sure. The higher your endurance, the longer you can train!
Merrin: I see. Very helpful. And to think, one can build up this endurance caring for alpacas. It's a dream come true! I wish we had alpacas in my country.
Amber: Don't worry, Merrin. If you wanna get strong, I can teach you everything I know.
Merrin: You can? You will?
Amber: You bet! Where do you want to start? Running? Maybe some core exercises?
Merrin: Why don't we spar together...just to see how much endurance I have right now.
Amber: Oh, good idea! It'll be nice to have a new sparring partner.
Merrin: I doubt I'll be a match for you. I'll just have to do my best and hope I don't embarrass myself.

Amber: Aw, maaan...
Merrin: I can't believe it. I won so...easily.
Amber: I can't believe I tripped over myself. I wasn't even attacking! I'm so pathetic...
Merrin: Wait...you're lulling me into dropping my guard, aren't you? Distracting me with pratfalls again?
Amber: ... Sorry, Merrin, but I'm gonna call it. Lesson's over for today, OK?
Merrin: Oh, OK. Another time, then.

A support

Amber: Hey, Merrin. I'm really sorry.
Merrin: Why are you apologizing to me?
Amber: It's about our sparring match the other day. I really did trip, and I really did lose to you.
Merrin: You did?
Amber: It wasn't a covert strategy or a pratfall. I just... fell because I was being careless. That happens a lot. I'm actually pretty clumsy. I stumble into everything, including my role as a knight of Brodia. It's all dumb luck!
Merrin: I don't believe that. Not for one minute. I'm from a small village too, so I know how hard you must have worked to get where you are. No one is named retainer to a crown prince without a tremendous amount of effort. You may be uncoordinated, but I have no doubt you're an excellent knight, Amber.
Amber: That's...that's very encouraging to hear... Thank you, Merrin. I should really be learning from you, y'know? Can we do some more training together?
Merrin: Of course. I'd be honored to train with a knight from the kingdom of Brodia.
Amber: Yes! I can't wait to get started! With your help, I'll get rid of my clumsiness and become a respectable knight in no time!
Merrin: It seems to me, the secret to a Brodian's strength is that earnest attitude of yours. Hehe, I think I'm going to learn a thing or two from you, my friend.

Seadall: What? Really? Here? Am I...reading this right?
Amber: Seadall! What's going on? Is everything OK?
Seadall: Just doing a bit of fortune telling. The cards say that a man foretold by legend will soon appear.
Amber: Whoa! A man foretold by legend? Where? When? What else do the cards say?
Seadall: Well, this legendary man is young, gregarious, energetic...and rather handsome.
Amber: Ooh, that profile sounds an awful lot like me. If only my name was Greg! Man, so close.
Seadall: Ah, but he's also a fool.
Amber: Oh. That can't be me, then. Heh, poor Greg...
Seadall: Hmm... This fabled fellow also has a powerful connection to a certain animal. The...alpaca?
Amber: Alpacas?! No way! That has to be me. I AM the legendary Greg!
Seadall: You're the figure my cards are heralding?
Amber: I guess so! But what does that mean? Am I supposed to do something?
Seadall: Well, according the cards, sometime in the near future, you are going to be a savior.
Amber: Whoa! A savior? Me?! That's the best! How near is this near future going to be?
Seadall: Eh, that remains a bit...foggy. But never fear, I'll give you a shout as soon as things are clear.
Amber: Got it. I'll keep my ears perked up and my eyes pointed in both directions...just like an alpaca!

Seadall: Ah, it's the alpaca-loving savior himself. You made it.
Amber: Hmm. I know you mean that, but the way you say it makes me sound...uncool.
Seadall: Well, how's this for cool... According to the cards, today is the day you become a savior!
Amber: Really? Today?! That's great! So, uh...what should I do?
Seadall: Make it rain.
Amber: Hah, uh... Make it rain? Like, actual rain? From the sky? How do I do that?
Seadall: That...I do not know. I'm not the savior. You are.
Amber: Oh, come on! You can't just make rain happen.
Seadall: Look, if you're the savior of legend, then you should be able to do it. So sayeth the cards.
Amber: Wow. The cards really believe in me that much? I can't let them down. Right. OK. No big deal. I'm a legendary savior. I already have everything I need to make it rain. ... Ain-ray... Ain-ray... Ain-ray...
Seadall: OK...
Amber: Ain-ray, all-fay own-day ow-nay...ease-play?
Seadall: I have never heard this...um...spell before.
Amber: Alpaca! You'll 'paca! Everyone will 'paca... for rain, rain, raaain! Whoaaa, RAIN!
Seadall: Oh boy.
Amber: How was that? Is it raining yet?
Seadall: Not a single drop.
Amber: Oh, come on!
Seadall: I guess...the fortune was off. I'm sorry. I thought I had it right.
Amber: No, you're fine. I'm the one who just made a fool of himself. Tell your cards I'm sorry...

A support

Seadall: Amber, can I have a word with you?
Amber: Oh, Seadall. Sorry, but I kind of want to be alone for a while. I'm still pretty embarrassed about that whole "rain savior" thing. I really am a fool.
Seadall: That's what I wanted to talk to you about. It rained. You're a savior after all!
Amber: Uh... Whoa. Wait, no! I was there. I did all that stuff and it didn't rain a single drop! I appreciate you trying to make me feel better... But that kind of coddling just makes me feel like even more of a fool.
Seadall: I wouldn't do that. I'm telling you, Amber... You made it rain─just like the cards said you would. It didn't rain right where we were standing, bu it did rain in a village just a few miles away.
Amber: It did?!
Seadall: It hadn't rained there for ages. In fact, the crops were on the verge of turning to dust. Then all of a sudden, it started pouring. I'm telling you, it happened right after you finished that weird rain chant of yours.
Amber: Whoa. What? No. Really? I did that? Really?! I did it! I'm the legendary savior of some village somewhere! I'm so...happy. Saving people is the best feeling in the entire world.
Seadall: When the fighting settles down, how about we pay a visit to that village? I'll introduce you. "Hear ye, humble townsfolk. Come, meet your alpaca-loving savior!" Yep, that's what I'll say.
Amber: No, don't say it like that! You're making me sound uncool again.
Seadall: Don't worry. I promise to properly introduce the "man foretold by legend." You deserve it.
Amber: Yes! And when you do, I'll thank the genius fortune-teller that predicted me!
Seadall: Haha, now it's my turn to be embarrassed.
Amber: We make a pretty good duo, y'know?
Seadall: I don't think we have a choice. According to my latest reading, we're destined to be friends.
Amber: Hah! Man, those cards are so smart. Here's to a budding friendship. Nothing's gonna rain on our parade! Uh, unless I make it, that is.

Mauvier: Keeping guard is more important than resting.

Mauvier: Hm?
Amber: That means you're human after all! I had my doubts. Stop pushing yourself so hard, OK?
Mauvier: Haha, I surrender to your concerns.
Amber: Yeah, you do. Here, drink some of this. It's a legendary secret potion that relieves fatigue.
Mauvier: Really? Hm. This smell is worrisome.
Amber: Worrisome? What?
Mauvier: This is no secret potion to help with fatigue. It is a laxative.

Mauvier: Hm?
Amber: Ah! Oh no! It's working─I can feel it WORKING!

Mauvier: What you are asking is best left undiscussed.
Amber: I knew it. Guilt is totally your thing, isn't it?
Mauvier: ... It would be a lie to say otherwise. It is a simple task to make others lose faith in you. Earning it back is far more difficult.
Amber: Oh! That's why you've been putting in so much hard work! You don't have to worry. Everybody knows you're on our side now.
Mauvier: Only because you tell everyone that I work hard and am dedicated to the cause.
Amber: Huh?! H-how did you know that?
Mauvier: It is not difficult to hear what people are talking about when our numbers are so small.
Amber: I guess we both found each other out.
Mauvier: It is strange how I find myself in a better mood when you are around. When I see you, I always know I am in the presence of a friend.
Amber: That tracks. A lot of people say my affability is my only redeeming quality.
Mauvier: Haha, is that what they say?
Amber: Pretty much. I guess we hadn't really talked to each other before these last few nights, huh? There's still plenty of time before dawn breaks. Wanna chat?
Mauvier: Yes. That sounds like good fun.
Amber: OK! Affable Amber's gonna make you smile till sunup! If, uh, my rowdy guts let me, that is. Oof.
