A Trick of the Goddess is the twelfth chapter of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes on the Azure Gleam route.

Imperial general Randolph von Bergliez stands as the last line of defense between the Kingdom and Enbarr. He hires Jeralt's Mercenaries to aid him and laments the moral decay of the Empire to Jeralt. Jeralt gifts Byleth a sword he once used during his time as a Knight of Seiros.
The Kingdom army arrives in the territory and battles the Imperial army. If Shez successfully kills Randolph without incapacitating Byleth, Jeralt orders his mercenaries to surrender and laments that his reputation is most likely shot due to his repeated failures against the Kingdom. However, Dimitri offers to hire them, and Jeralt accepts on the condition that he not be forced to interact with the Church of Seiros. If Shez incapacitates Byleth, Jeralt attacks the Kingdom after Randolph's death in order to finish his mission, but Shez kills him. Byleth murders Rodrigue before escaping. Afterwards, Byleth leaves Jeralt's Mercenaries in Alois' hands and departs to exact revenge on Shez. The Blue Lions mourn Rodrigue, and Felix swears loyalty to Dimitri in his father's stead. Either way, the Kingdom army prepares to link up with the Alliance and Church and finally retake Garreg Mach Monastery.
