The Wyvern Knight (Japanese: ワイバーンナイト Wyvern Knight) class is a class of lance-wielding wyvern-riding soldiers. They have only appeared in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones as an alternate promotion for pegasus knights or wyvern riders. No normal playable characters start out as wyvern knights, and there are few enemy wyvern knights.

Wyvern knights are very strong units with high stats in almost every category. However, they have horribly low resistance, although if they promote from pegasus knights, this problem is remedied in part, since pegasus knights normally have high resistance. Also, as flying units, they are quite vulnerable to bows. Otherwise, they are very useful units. Their high movement of 8 spaces can be used to attack faraway enemies, and they can easily fly over terrain such as mountains and sea.

This class has the Pierce skill, which negates enemy defense at the attacker's next attack, at a certain percentage. In other words, when the Pierce skill is activated, the next attack is calculated without the enemy's defense being a factor; when this skill activates, the wyvern knight will almost always defeat the enemy in one strike.
