Weapon level was a stat present only in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga. Similar to the weapon rank system of later games, the range of weapons a unit has is dependent on their weapon level stat; like the rank system all weapons are assigned a minimum weapon level required to use them. Weapon level is increased through level-ups, and it has its own growth rate. The stat applies equally to all weapon types available to the unit's class, allowing for a unit with access to multiple types equal proficiency in all of them.

Weapon level was absent from Fire Emblem Gaiden, which had no similar system and instead allowed a unit to use every weapon, preferential weapons aside, automatically. From Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War onward, the weapon system was overhauled and this stat was removed, replaced with the more refined weapon rank system.
