Warrior Realm is the second chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. Having arrived at the border between Ylisse and Ferox, the Shepherds are forced to prove themselves to a Feroxi captain before they can gain passage into Ferox.
In addition to next chapter in the storyline, completing this chapter will also unlock the first paralogue chapter. Clearing this chapter will also unlock all of the armories available to this point as well as the game's wireless features--namely the ability to set up a StreetPass team, the Double Duel, the Bonus Box, the Avatar Logbook, and Renown Awards--and the ability to find Risen swarms and merchants on the world map.

Warrior Realm/Script
The Shepherds have arrived at the Ylisse-Ferox border, nearing the fortress marking it. Lissa complains to Frederick about the cold, to which Frederick asks Lissa to stand beside his horse--she'll shelter Lissa from the wind. Robin gazes over the fortress, which Chrom reveals is called the Longfort, stretching along the border of Ylisse and Ferox. Frederick reveals that the khans that rule Ferox have grown wary of foreigners, but asks the group not to mistake a lack of hospitality for open hostility, saying that the situation calls for diplomacy. Chrom reveals negotiation is not his strong suit, but he'll do his best, then tells everyone that their actions reflect back upon Ylisse.
A short time later, Frederick notices that the Feroxi Guard are mobilizing. Chrom asks why, to which Frederick can't answer, but Frederick states that the guard appear to be ready to strike at a moment's notice and asks the Shepherds to prepare for combat just to be safe. Frederick suggests pooling their supplies and selecting which Shepherds to deploy. Still not completely trustful of Robin, Frederick believes he/she might offer some valuable insight into this suggestion. Chrom asks Robin what he/she thinks. The battle preparations menu comes up for the first time; it will be available for all subsequent battles afterward. With the battle preparations menu unlocked, so do the supply convoy and the ability to manage the units' skills.
Once the Shepherds have completed battle preparations, the captain of Feroxi Guard, Raimi, calls for the Shepherds to stop. Chrom introduces himself in the name of House Ylisse, revealing that he seeks audience with the khans. Raimi asks Chrom to not take another step, and reveals she has lancers at the ready. Frederick steps in, telling Raimi that the Shepherds are not their enemy, that Emmeryn herself sent them to discuss matters of mutual interest. Raimi states that her only interest is keeping the Shepherds out of Regna Ferox, and goes as far as to call Frederick a brigand. Frederick attempts to reason, but Raimi reveals that the Shepherds aren't the first so-called "Ylisseans" to attempt to cross the border and she has the authority to fell impostors where they stand. Frederick angrily exclaims that Raimi is in the presence of the Ylissean exalt's brother, to which Raimi sarcastically replies claiming to be the queen of Valm and reveals that impersonating royalty is a capital offense. Raimi then suggests that this matter be settled the Feroxi way--if Chrom claims to be the prince of Ylisse, then he has to prove it on the battlefield. Chrom states that Emmeryn won't like this turn of events, and asks Raimi to listen; Raimi says she has heard quite enough and orders the attack.
(Cutscene: "Lovebirds"/"The Rescue") Feroxi soldiers then throw spears toward Chrom. We see the spears land, but no Chrom in sight. As it turns out, a pegasus has swooped onto the scene and whisked Chrom away--as it turns out, being flown by Sumia. Sumia asks Chrom to hold on tight, the ride could get bumpy. Chrom has doubts, but Sumia states he'll be fine. Chrom notices the soldiers readying more spears, and asks Sumia to fly away from them.
Once back on the ground, Sumia expresses relief that she made it in time; Chrom states that it went double for him. He then notices that Sumia's pegasus is the same one he met on the Northroad; Sumia states that she is a sweetheart once one really gets to know her. Chrom gives thanks to both Sumia and her pegasus; Lissa appears to notice Sumia's pegasus blushing, to which Frederick states that everybody is best focusing on the situation at hand. Robin notes the Feroxi Guard coming toward them; Chrom says the Feroxi way is the way they'll have to do things. At this point, the battle begins. Sumia reveals that Phila told her about the abilities of pegasi--they can fly far afield, but are highly vulnerable to arrows. Sumia tells her pegasus not to worry, she'll watch for archers for both their sakes.
If the player lets Chrom talk to the green NPC knight standing to the west of the starting group, Chrom reveals he feels like he's being watched. The knight asks Chrom if he sees him, then asks the knight to show himself. Kellam then reveals he was standing right in plain sight, spooking Chrom in the process. Once Chrom gets over the shock, he finally notices Kellam and asks him when he arrived. Kellam reveals he's been with the group the whole time, then asks if he's still one of the Shepherds. Kellam says being one of the Shepherds is quite the honor, and he'd hate to lose it. Chrom reveals Kellam's status among the Shepherds is safe, and asks Kellam to forgive him--Kellam is so quiet, and he's been told he's easy to miss. Chrom states that at least the Feroxi didn't find him, but Kellam had been calling out to Chrom and waving his arms for several minutes and the Feroxi haven't so much as glanced his way. Chrom finds Kellam almost sounds disappointed; Kellam says he's glad Chrom finally saw him, and asks Chrom to keep an eye out from now on. The player can now control Kellam at this point.
Once Raimi is defeated, she sees that the Shepherds were telling the truth, and apologizes to Chrom for mistaking his group as brigand impostors. Raimi states that no frauds could have waged a battle like the Shepherds just did, then says she'll send word of their arrival to the capital and escort them there personally. Chrom says the gesture would be most appreciated. Robin notices that Raimi's whole demeanor changed after having been defeated; Frederick reveals that strength speaks louder than words in Ferox, and says he should have known better than to overestimate the value of diplomacy. Lissa asks Chrom if they can get going, to which Chrom accepts, as it's not getting any warmer.
Summary
At the Longfort dividing Ylisse and Ferox, the Shepherds are taken for brigands and attacked by the Feroxi Guard. A show of force clears the matter up.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
In this chapter, Sumia is introduced as a new playable unit. As she mentions, Pegasus Knights are vulnerable to bows and thus must be kept safe from archery. This is also the first map to introduce recruitable NPCs, namely Kellam.

Trivia
- The animated cutscene that plays in this chapter is the only one whose name is different between the USA release and PAL release of the game. A popular theory states that the change was initiated due to backlash from the American audience over the name and contents of the cutscene implying favoritism toward the Chrom/Sumia romantic pairing, a pairing seen as unfavorable to the American audience, with the PAL version changing the name of the cutscene to avoid such an implication having an impact on the European and Australian audiences.
