Warp

|
Warp (Japanese: ワープ Warp) is an uncommon transportation staff which was introduced in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. When cast, the staff warps an ally next to the staff's user to an unoccupied square of their choice somewhere else on the battlefield. The possible range in which the staff can send units varies from game to game, with some allowing Warp to send a unit anywhere on the battlefield, while others have a limited range based on the user's magic stat. Genealogy of the Holy War restricts the choice of destinations to allied castles only.
Warp is present in complete form in eleven Fire Emblem series games, including in Gaiden and its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, where it served as a white magic spell; Warp is unused in Path of Radiance and completely absent from Radiant Dawn, Awakening, and Fates. In Thracia 776, Radiant Dawn, and Shadows of Valentia, Warp also has a rare and uniquely more powerful version in Rewarp. In the majority of games, it also has a counterpart in the form of the Rescue staff, which performs the opposite function of Warp.

Super Smash Bros. series
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, five of the six playable Fire Emblem characters - Marth, Roy, Ike, Lucina and Robin - enter the battlefield at the beginning of matches using Warp magic. Additionally, at the beginning of Pair Up, Robin's Final Smash, Chrom is also transported onto the battlefield using Warp. The visual effects for the Smash Bros. warping entrances are based on the style of Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.
Trivia
- In the international versions of Shadow Dragon, Warp's icon was altered to turn a six-pointed star () into a five-pointed star (), presumably to remove its resemblance to the Star of David. This practice of removing religious references used to be widespread in Nintendo of America's localizations, but had actually come to an end long before Shadow Dragon (or any other Fire Emblem game) was released internationally. As a result, Warp is the only Fire Emblem item to have had its design edited for localization purposes.
- Warp is the only white magic spell from Gaiden which is neither exclusive to Gaiden and its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, nor has appeared in every game of the Fire Emblem series.
