Village of Silence/Script
Eirika continues her journey through the Caer Pelyn mountain range with Saleh. Eirika's group, and Eirika in particular, is having difficulty with the terrain and thin air in the mountainous peaks. Saleh reassures them that they are only a half-day march to the village. Seth thinks Eirika and the others should rest for the rest of the day, though Eirika denies this, saying they should continue their journey as soon as possible. Even the stubborn Innes comments on the height of the mountains, and wonders how humans can stand to live in such a place.
Saleh mentions that the people of Caer Pelyn survive by the grace of the great dragon and by discarding frivolities. Eirika begins to ask what the "Great Dragon" is, however, Seth interrupts the conversation to alert them that monsters are approaching. Saleh mentions that monsters haven't set foot out of Darkling Woods for centuries, and their presence in the mountains is unusual. Preparations occurs at this point.
At the start of the battle, Saleh states his concern for Ewan, who had went ahead to Caer Pelyn earlier in the day, and begins to actively cooperate with Eirika's forces.
If someone from Eirika's group visits the southern house Ewan will come out of hiding and help fight off the monsters.
Upon routing the monsters, Eirika's group, led by Saleh, enters Caer Pelyn. They are greeted by Saleh's grandmother, Dara, who asks the identities of his companions. Innes introduces himself as the prince of Frelia, and requests permission to pass through the area. Dara states that the people of Caer Pelyn are all equal, and asks if Eirika and Innes take issue with that. Innes does not, and Dara welcomes the group into Caer Pelyn's homes and to their supplies. Innes refuses the offer, though Dara insists, mentioning that Eirika is on the verge of collapse. Dara tells Saleh to get Eirika some tea, and Eirika is thankful for the hospitality. Dara says it is no problem, and that she call her "grandmother".
After settling down into one of the buildings Eirika is finally able to ask about the Great Dragon. Dara states that the Great Dragon is a blessing and protected mankind from the Demon King 800 years ago. Eirika finds this interesting, as modern retellings of the Legend of the Sacred Stones has little mention of the Great Dragon, instead citing the hero Grado as the one to finally seal away the Demon King. Dara says that though mankind may forget its debts, the Great Dragon is not so forgetful, and still protects humanity by watching over the corpse of the Demon King in Darkling Woods and keeps the monster hordes from wandering the rest of Magvel, which leads Eirika to ask another question.
Eirika tells Dara that they encountered monsters several times on their journey, and wonders what the implications of this are. Dara tells her that the Great Dragon left Darkling Woods in search of a foul energy to the south, in Grado. Unfortunately, despite Saleh accompanying the Great Dragon, the Great Dragon vanished during a battle. Saleh has been searching Magvel for the Great Dragon since. Eirika, connecting some dots, asks if the Great Dragon's name is Myrrh, and if the Great Dragon is a manakete. Dara reacts to the word "Manakete" in a very negative way, and Eirika apologizes.
Dara accepts the apology, and is much more interested in the fact that Eirika seems to know the location of the Great Dragon. Eirika informs Dara that Myrrh is with Ephraim, and that Ephraim is leading troops in battle with Grado. Dara tells Saleh to head to Grado immediately, Saleh agrees, though he is interrupted by L'Arachel. L'Arachel tells him that the quickest route to Grado is through Jehanna, and that he should travel with Eirika as doing so would be far safer than going off on his own. Saleh agrees to this and remains with Eirika's group.
Dara sees Eirika's group off in their travels to Jehanna.
If Saleh is deceased before the end of the chapter he is omitted from the closing conversations and Eirika informs Dara of his death when the group first arrives in Caer Pelyn.
