Most of the images "derped" before due to the server move from my old server to Tacopills. So thanks for reuploading and fixing the images. -- Eliwood  (My Talk Page) (My Contributions) 13:39, 12 February 2012 (EST)

Thank you, + request

Thanks for all your help! Your help is greatly appreciated, especially when a lot of our active editors have been busy with personal lifey things interfering with wiki work. I really do appreciate your contributions.

I have a request - can you cite sources for the name etymology? It's important to do so. Thank you! Seritinajii 21:14, 14 February 2012 (EST)

Suggestion

I know how to fix the user creation log spam problem (or partially). If you set it so is required that you must type in an e-mail address in order to create an account, many less spam accounts will be created. Think about it; you'll get much less spam accounts if you do. --34Krom43 (talk) 16:29, 25 June 2012 (EDT)

Regarding permissions on this Wiki.

Exactly what are the criterion for being able to create articles in either the mainspace or the userspace? I'd like to create an article on Archetypes, and yet I'm still unable to create either the page or a draft on my userspace.

ReiDemon (talk) 00:18, 17 March 2013 (MDT)

I'm not an admin so I'm really not the right person to ask, but anyway: I think you need to be classified as an "autoconfirmed user" to be able to create pages. You automatically get autoconfirmed after hitting a certain number of edits; I'm not sure what the number is (probably between 10-30) or whether or not they all have to be major edits. Again, you should probably go ask someone who knows what they're talking about. --some idiot (talk) 01:17, 17 March 2013 (MDT)

Page, and quote additions?

I was thinking off adding these quotes to the Kinbois, and Gandolf Pages?

That sorceror Sandima is behind all of this, isn’t he… You, Gandolf and Kinbois have trusted him far too much. He has deceived all of you!
— Jamke on Kinbois and Gandolf, in Chapter 1 of Genealogy of the Holy War.
“The king of this country is very kind. He would’ve been the last person to wage a war. That sorcerer, Sandima, is behind all of this. Everything began going downhill the moment he showed up. Aside from the youngest prince, Jamka, Sandima has them all wrapped around his finger. Please, I beg of you… save our kingdom!”
— A Verdane villager on the Royal Family, in Chapter 1 of Genealogy of the Holy War.
“The amiable monarch succeeded in maintaining the peace with Grandbell, while pacifying his zealous sons. However, that very peace was ultimately violated by none other than King Batou.”
— The narration on the Royal Family, in Chapter 1 of Genealogy of the Holy War.

Would you be ok with it? Maybe you can put them in better words then I? Another thing is I noticed in the latest translation, Hilda says her "father in Law" rather then "Father", so maybe we can change her page a bit? Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:00, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

You really don't have to check every single thing by me. I'm nobody. What I think of these edits doesn't matter at all. --PA (talk) 01:23, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Ok, just you seemed to be good at writing the character pages, so I wanted to make sure they mesh.

Additions to the Brigand, and Barbarian Class page

I made some additions to the Brigand page, and the Barbarian page. Maybe you can tell me what you think, or if there's anything that needs to be changed? Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:17, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

See above re: me being nobody. As far as the FE12 barbarian thing goes, though, do you have any proof on the matter? Maybe an LP somewhere confirming it happens by doing it themselves, or video footage? Because this is the first I've heard about it anywhere. --PA (talk) 01:23, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Its listed on the Wikia, and I've done it myself by using action replay codes in New Mystery emulation. Once I get permission to upload images, I can show the promotion. This also explains why many Barbarians are replaced by Berserkers in the hardest difficulties in the game. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:52, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Ah okay, good enough for me. I think the important part would be to note what the promotion stat boosts are and get them listed on the promotion page, then throw together an unused content page for FE12 that notes that it happens. (That said, I wouldn't take the wikia as evidence since they are currently making a laughably obvious fake claim about a cut Ike/Mia support. Everything else evidencing it is fine though, of course.) --PA (talk) 02:13, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Sure, I'll work on the promotion bonuses soon. I've seen it myself, don't worry, I'll have to do something about that Ike/Mia support claim, LOL! Speaking of unused Soldiers, actually have plenty of playable data in FE3, moreso then the other unplayable classes! Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:20, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Barbarian promotion gains in New Mystery are +6HP, +2STR, +1Skill, +1Speed, +2 defense, and +1 movement. Checking it, this is the same promotion gains Pirates get when they become Berserkers. I took a screenshot of a Enemy Sand Clan Barbarian in Chapter 11, Anri's Way Promoting. When I get permission to upload, I'll show you it. Emperor Hardin (talk) 08:45, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
File:Ss fe12 barbarian promotion.png Got it, should I put the image in the article? Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:39, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Bam. --PA (talk) 02:09, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much! I'm not totally sure, but I think the promotion might be used to some extent behind the scenes like Boss, and Enemy Class growths? I'll work on other unused images, as well as the unused content pages! Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:33, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

So I got another image set involving the Brigand promotion in FE8 if you want? Also to explain the Axe Fighter, thing, the Fighter class is called Axe fighter in FE4 through Fe, plus Fates. Also that Bandit in Sacred Stones blurs the line between Generic, and unique boss character: his portrait shows up in gameplay, he even has a chibi portrait icon, his stats are higher, and he has a set affinity(Thunder). Maybe he should get a page like the Gra Captain? Emperor Hardin (talk) 09:15, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Image Request

I was thinking in response to you being open for image requests, I was thinking the following images would be good in order of importance:

  • A Barbarian battle sprite from FE4.
  • A Mountain Thief battle sprite from FE4.
  • A Enemy Berserker from the DS Games to go with the Barbarian Class change images.
  • A Pirate Battle sprite from FE4
  • A Bandit Map graphic from FE10.

Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:00, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

I only do FE9/10 image requests, because unlike every other game, those are something not everyone has the equipment to do. Cropping out FE4/5 sprites isn't that hard, and FE12's sprites are already ripped over here. With the bandit map graphic, I can't do map images yet because I don't know how User:Aria der Donau went about getting them originally. --PA (talk) 01:23, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
No problem at all. Can you do FE9 Map Graphics? If not there's other FE9, and FE10 image suggestions if you're open. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:26, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Nope. It might be somewhat easier to do, but I'm not sure about those either. Battle or map screenshots that don't need editing like map graphics do are fair game, though. --PA (talk) 01:42, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
No problem. I was thinking you could get a picture of the Anti Laguz weapons, as well as battle screenshots of Tiger, Cat, Hawk, and Raven Laguz. Generics will do. Emperor Hardin (talk) 01:52, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
I should be able to bowl over the slayer weapons pretty quickly. Class images will be a bit slower coming because I'm really picky about making sure the end result doesn't look like ass, but not longer than a week. --PA (talk) 02:13, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Sounds great. The Heavy weapons in RD Like Greatlances, and PoleAxes would be good to get too. Emperor Hardin (talk) 02:20, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Looking good, I remember the LaguzSlayer's appearance pretty well. Kinda funny that only the Laguz Bow doesn't look sinister. Emperor Hardin (talk) 05:02, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
I was thinking maybe you could get an image of a Bandit in Path of Radiance's battle animations? You can probably get a good screen by promoting one, as there's close ups during the class change scene. The LParchive gives the Recruit enemy unit AR code. Emperor Hardin (talk) 09:50, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

I'm a little embarassed to ask this, but

Do you think you could help me learn how to cite/ref properly on this wiki format. You can kinda see I messed up on the Sternlin, and Kinbois character pages. Emperor Hardin (talk) 07:31, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Here's the mistake you made with Sternlin:
<ref>{{Cite|The Sable Order fought valiantly to keep Marth's army from reaching Chiasmir, but in the end Grust's knights buckled}}|chapter 19, Manakete Princess|Shadow Dragon</ref>
The template exploded because you accidentally put the closing }} brackets halfway through the template. I can sort of see how that mistake could happen - backspace out the the template's contents, then sort of forget about it when adding the speaker and game definitions. Unlike the Kinbois examples, it's otherwise just about right. To speed things along, here have a corrected ref string:
<ref>{{Cite|The Sable Order fought valiantly to keep Marth's army from reaching Chiasmir, but in the end Grust's knights buckled.|Opening narration of [[Manakete Princess|Chapter 19]]|Shadow Dragon}}</ref>

Mediocre to Healer

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but why was it moved? It's internally called mediocre rod. PikaSamus (talk) 03:56, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

I can't think of a 100% watertight reason for it, but I figure it makes more sense in that if people are going to be looking up information on FE12 weapons, these days they're almost certainly coming from the fan translation and looking it up by the name "Healer", not "Mediocre". Sure, that's why redirects exist, but still. Internal names are interesting information to have, but when they go with obviously broken names like "WOLLEN", "FLYCHATCHER", or "TBOXKEY" there's only so much significance you can place upon them (and "MEDIOCRE" isn't exactly a 1:1 match with its actual name in Japanese either). --PA (talk) 04:32, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

More image suggestions

I was thinking, do you think you could images for the map graphics of classes like Fighter, Soldier, Mage, and basically all the iconic recurring classes and their promoted forms from Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn? I was thinking of using them for the promotion tables. Emperor Hardin (talk) 05:27, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Those aren't likely to happen any time soon. I'd like to do it at some point but it's going to take a fair bit of experimentation to get looking vaguely decent, and FE10's are going to be even harder to do than 9's. --PA (talk) 11:28, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
No worries. Instead do you think you can get a screenshot of the Generic Valkyrie in Battle? One shows up as an Other unit in Geoffrey's introduction chapter. Normally other units don't have battle animations, but you can use the cheat to recruit other units, then take a screenshot of the generic Valkyrie in battle. I've also heard there's a generic Red Dragon Laguz in humanoid form, maybe you could get a picture of that if possible? Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:27, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
Already played around with that valkyrie. If you trick the game into putting it in a battle scene, it just shows up with Mist's textures. Same applies for most NPCs. --PA (talk) 23:27, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
I was wondering if that would happen, thanks for explaining it! I wonder why they put in that lone generic Valkyrie? Any chance of capturing a good Tiger laguz picture for the article on the class? Emperor Hardin (talk) 03:14, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

When the deeprealm text appears in the JP ver

If I remember correctly, it appears when you make your first S rank couple, I don't think it appears for pairs afterwards, though.L95 (talk) 17:42, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll have to check the script dumps next time I could be bothered and hope the file for this conversation isn't really well hidden. --PA (talk) 01:45, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

FE3 map animation

I saw that you did the sprites in Category:Mystery of the Emblem map animations. Can you do the one for the Dark Knight? I have the individual frames. Here is a link. PikaSamus (talk) 22:29, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Done. Kind of curious as to how you got the sprites to display in-game. I tried messing around with dark knights as well a while back, but the neutral pose sprites adamantly refused to show up properly. --PA (talk) 23:29, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
It would only show up for me on an indoor map (the specific chapter was Book 1 Chapter 5). PikaSamus (talk) 23:55, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
Huh, interesting. I could've sworn I tested it in an indoor map as well. Oh well. --PA (talk) 23:57, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
Its not so much whether its an indoor/outdoor map so much as which classes load with the map. For example, FE3 Berserker loads on the first map of book 1, but not on the second. Most of FE3's enemy classes(exceptions include soldier and Ballistician), and a few of the playable ones(like Tiki's Manakete class) only load on certain maps. Basically each map has a set of unusual classes that is loaded with the map, oftentimes classes that aren't even used are loaded as well. Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:41, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

Prisoner questions

I was wondering, do you have any Prisoner/Capturing questions you'd like to ask me about for Fire Emblem: Fates? Emperor Hardin (talk) 23:42, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

Sure, thanks.
1) Stats. Do prisoner units retain their exact stats from when they were enemies? FE has a long history of recruited enemies having better stats in higher difficulties, so I'm wondering if prisoners behave the same way or if they get nerfed when joining you.
2) The script dumps I've got are saying something about prisoners as part of the game's avatar logbook. Can prisoners be saved to the logbook and then hired out from it in other saves, and if so, are there any limitations on who you can save to it?
3) Reclassing. Do prisoners get assigned reclass options, or are they unable to do that like the amiibo units are? Similarly, are prisoners allowed to use those special reclass items for witch, ballistician, dread fighter, etc?
I'm also wondering if there's some sort of link between different prison guards and their rate of success with persuading prisoners, but that's something that's going to have to wait until Serenes or somebody else puts in some proper research. --PA (talk) 23:57, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
No problem
1) Prisoners retain the exact same stats when they join you. The only thing they do not retain is their weapons, and enemy only skills.
2)You can indeed. I've captured Sol..Lancers with high stats, and three good skills from skirmishes on Lunatic, then gone onto a normal save, and buy them into my team, skills, and all. This can seemingly be exploited by copying a second save from a regular save, using all your stat boosters on a prisoner, then updating their stats with stat boosters, then go onto the original, and buy the stat boosted prisoner all while keeping your stat boosters, rinse and repeat. The only downside so far seems to be price, as higher stats equal a little bit higher in price.
3)Before promotion, Prisoners cannot reclass at all. After promotion, or if a captured unit is already promoted, they may reclass to their alternative promotion. A Berserker, either base, or promoted from a Generic fighter can reclass into hero. A Base Great Knight can reclass into General, as his base class is Knight(despite using a Cavalier head under his helmet). All generics can use special promotion items like a Lancer promoting to Lodestar and reclassing back to Lancer. Uniquely there is a unique generic head for Dark Flier with a winged helmet. Most of the other ones just use random generic heads, Lodestar generics just use a helmetless Lancer head for example. Off the top of my head, Dread Fighter generics do use the same map sprites, and similar battle animations to the Generic DreadFighter concept artwork, but without the veil over their mouth.
4)Recruitment seems to based on a set number of times, like this "Nichol is this powerful compared to your body, so it takes three persuasions to recruit him." Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:11, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
Excellent! This should be enough to put some good meat on the page. --PA (talk) 00:18, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
My pleasure! Other info is
1)Lancers seem to have a couple random skills from other classes in Birthright/Revelation Skirmishes. Tier 1 skills early in the game, and Tier 2 skills later in the game. Campaign Lancers have their skills already set.
2) Candace/Draj is the only character/prisoner unable to reclass, or use alternative promotion items, presumably due to not having a fitting model for her build, though this doesn't stop generics from reclassing.
3) There's a limit to 100 in the prisoner logbook, you can delist units, or lock them(I'm guessing so they won't get deleted when the Logbook is full). You can also update their stats, level, and class. If you make say Gazak a Lodestar, update his stats, then buy him on another file, he will indeed come in as a lodestar.
4) Generics don't say "..." when they level up, or die, no speech bubble appears for them at all.
5) Might've been mentioned before, but Prisoners are the only playable Lancers. The class isn't terrible, its stats are decent, its biggest downside is a B-Rank in Lances. Overall its mostly playable for the novelty. Now if only they included faceless too, ah well can't have everything. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:31, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
Is the logbook limit shared with other einherjar, e.g. other people's avatars? --PA (talk) 00:37, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
There is a specific section for guest units, prisoners, and the like. So the logbook limit appears to be for each section only. One more thing is if a unit doesn't start out with a skill, for example, a Level 10 Outlaw without Locktouch, Movement +1, Lucky Seven, then he'll learn each on level up. Locktouch at level 11, Movement+1 at level 12, and lucky seven at level 13. Emperor Hardin (talk) 00:43, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
👍 --PA (talk) 00:45, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
One more thing I'd like to add is Generic units have their own personal growth rates which are added to class growth rates, unlike the Replacement units. Finally they have no max stat modifiers good or bad, so they use Class Maximum stats with no additions or subtractions. All in all, I'm very impressed by the Prisoner system, and hope they continue it in future installment. If I can ask a question to you, what minor boss from a previous game would you like to capture? Emperor Hardin (talk) 03:56, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Tabs

In the Rinkah page, I reverted your edits because having "enemy" on the tabs is redundant with the "Enemy" header in Rinkah's enemy stats. I don't get why you reverted my edits without a reason. ChaosGallade (talk) 20:08, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Reason 1. Reason 2. Reason 3. Reason 4. Redundancy really isn't a problem at all, especially not if it makes the labels clear and consistent with other parts of the wiki. --PA (talk) 03:01, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
But in Rinkah's case, she's both an enemy and a playable character. Each subheading already separates her playable/NPC stats in one section and enemy stats by chapter in the other section. ChaosGallade (talk) 03:34, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Sprite Gallery format addition

Do you approve of [1] this style of update to the Sprite gallery? old one for comparison. I have to say my addition does look a little squashed to the side. I did the addition of a mini portrait to the Gazzak page first for comparison, I was trying to emulate the style of the GBA character's Sprite galleries, see Garcia. You can help decide? Emperor Hardin (talk) 17:28, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

"Road to Empire" vs. "Road to the Empire"

Concerning the whole North American name issue for the chapter in question, it seems like we've found some same-region variance in usage. As it appears that the version without the "the" is used on the save screen, the version with the "the" is found on the chapter's title card. (Another video from the same uploader to prove usage of the North American version.) Wonder how this came about?...--Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 02:35, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

I admit I had a feeling I should've checked the title card, but I didn't have a save file with it immediately on hand. Oh well. --PA (talk) 02:51, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

FE3 Pegasus enemy file renamed

I renamed Bs_fe03_enemy_pegasusknight_lance.png to File:Bs fe03 enemy pegasusknight male lance.png as in the game data, they are indeed male, and there is a separate appearance for enemy Pegasus Knight females as seen when attacking Catria, or Palla in chapter 7. When you dismount the enemy Pegasus Knight through hacking, they become male dismount knights, while reclassing Rody to Pegasus, he'll use the male graphic, while Cecil will use the female. Its the same for DracoKnight. Hope that explains my reasoning, do you think this should be mentioned in trivia? Emperor Hardin (talk) 04:00, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

You also might be interested in knowing about ID data, basically in FE3, the data for a character such as their gender, and name are a separate bit of data from their portrait. So you could give Marth Gazzak's portrait, but he'd still be Marth with the ability to seize, and use Falchion. When Xane transforms, he takes a character's portrait, but NOT their ID, thus this can lead to weird scenarios like Xane imitating Catria, but having the male Pegasus Knight graphics, and not having the ability to use the Lady Sword because his ID still identifies him as male. Similar applies to Xane imitating Julian, with Xane not getting Julian's unique thief sprite. Emperor Hardin (talk) 04:27, 9 October 2016 (UTC)

FE9 missing personality sections

Balmer, and Ikanau are missing personality sections, do you want me to help write them? Emperor Hardin (talk) 05:50, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

Thracia 776 Enemy Map Animations

How were you able to acquire enemy map animations for Thracia 776?
As I'm building the chapter pages, I've found that the wiki is missing most of them.
I have neither been able to find a secondary source with these files nor had the knowledge and resources to extract them from the game itself. Anferensis (talk) 22:21, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

Want to create a page for Shadow Dragon's Regional Differences

Hi, I wanted to create a page for Shadow Dragon's Regional Differences section but it says I don't have permission to create this page. Why is that? Mr. Kite (talk) 04:23, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

You need autoconfirmed status to be able to create new articles (try so at the title linked here once you've made it to autoconfirmed). To achieve autoconfirmed, you need to reach both contribution and time quotas; these quotas are in place to safeguard against spambots. --Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 04:40, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
According to this four days old and 10 edits seems to be correct. L95 (talk) 04:44, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Hey, can you take screenshots of the different versions of the combat forecast in the Tellius games? PikaSamus (talk) 02:29, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
