Unused content in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Numerous pieces of unused content have been found within the game data of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.
Text
Trial map text
There are a series of text strings which appear to be for the menu of a scrapped Trial Map mode. The text suggests that, unlike the Binding Blade Trial Map mode, this mode would have allowed maps to be sent between copies of the game.

The Binding Blade data transfer leftovers
Although the localized versions of the game removed the ability to import save data from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade to unlock extras, a complete set of text strings from this feature are still present in the localized game. This includes early and unrefined translations of the titles of every chapter in The Binding Blade (referred to as Sword of Seals).

Debug text
There are two sets of strings which are presumably leftovers from removed debug functions, since many of them line up with the functions of the two leaked prototypes. The first set is listed before the Battle History text, and the second set right after. It seems likely that the implementation of the Battle History text overwrote some debug strings.

Unused names
There are several unused unit name strings.
- Igrene is listed between Uther and Dart. This was presumably meant for Igrene, a playable character from The Binding Blade.
- Santals is listed between Eubans and Nergal. This name is associated with unused unit data for Helman, and the name "Santals" is a rough translation of the name of Helman's territory, Santaruz.
- Nadine is listed between Isadora and Legault.
- Bruno is listed between Ursula and Paul.
- Bogan is listed after Brendan.
- Efta is listed after Bogan and before Denning.
- Igor is listed after Kaim. In the finished game, a character named Igor appears in a cutscene as an underling of Linus's, but he never appears as a unit.
- Alexis is listed after Igor.
- Baudouin is listed after Alexis.
Unused help descriptions
Several characters are assigned unique help text which, because they either never appear as units in gameplay or (in Natalie's case) have their stat screen specifically blocked from being viewed by the player, can not be ordinarily seen.
Miscellaneous text
These two strings are located right before the beginning of the support conversation strings.
[OpenLeft][LoadFace][0xDF][0x01] Are you finished training? [Yes][X] [OpenLeft]All right, we're done here.[.][A][X]
These strings are located before the shop text.

These strings are located at the very end of the text bank, at the end of the Sound Room song titles. These appear to be cut entries which were used to test certain songs' looping points.

Build times
The game's build time can be found at offset 0xC0C50 in the Japanese release, 0xC57E0 in the North American release, 0x1E4ACC in the English/Spanish/Italian European release, and 0x1E5E24 in the English/French/German European release.
Japanese:

The Japanese and North American build dates are followed by the text katayama
, referring to the game's main programmer, Makoto Katayama. The English/Spanish/Italian European build date is followed by the text narihiro
, referring to Tohru Narihiro, one of the game's producers. The English/French/German European build date is followed by the text IS

Menu text
The following can be found after the weapon type names used in weapons' help bubbles.

ア | Bllsta |
竜 | Dragon |
There is a string located between "Res" and "Affin", "Div". However, in the Japanese version, it is just a duplicate of the affinity string (属性).
Affinity names were hidden in the North American version, but the names are still in the ROM.

Several menu text labels have English equivalents stored uncompressed in the Japanese ROM alongside the Japanese labels. Most of these English labels were in The Binding Blade as well, but the English range text and English condition labels, along with "illegal", are new.
Additionally, many menu text labels are also stored as compressed strings, but the game uses the text stored directly in the ROM instead. The English version uses the strings, however.

Unit/class list and chapter number list
With a hex editor a list of character names (these are generally their NoJ official romanizations) and some of their classes are listed. There is also a chapter number list.
The names are in the opposite order of the unit index.
Igor and Baudouin are listed.
This list starts at offset 0x3B7E14 in the NTSC-U release and offset 0x3BE18C in the Japanese version.

CG illustrations
There is one CG that is unused in all versions of the game. This CG was possibly intended for use during Kishuna's flashback during Chapter 32x: The Value of Life, which instead reuses the Kishuna flashback CG from Chapter 22xE/23xH: Genesis. | |
This CG is unused and cannot be seen in all regions except Japan. It appears in the Japanese version as the background graphic for the data transfer feature with Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. |

Santals
A character slot using the portrait of Helman under the name "Santals", an alternate rendering of Santaruz, appears within the data of Fire Emblem. He uses the generic Bishop battle palette. The unit slot is also marked as a boss.

|
Bramimond
Bramimond appears in the game code with unused stats that are all determined by its class with the exception of Luck as its base class starts with 0 Luck, but its character stats give it an additional 28 points.

Classes
This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.
Bramimond
The "Bramimond" is similar to the Peer as its purpose in the final product is to exclusively act as a "dummy" cutscene class for a character who only appears in cutscenes, in this case Bramimond of the Eight Legends, for whom it was named. In this capacity it is used exclusively in his appearance in the cutscene between the two segments of the Final Chapter. The class is likely named "Bramimond" to give it a readily identifiable internal name for programming purposes, while not giving it a proper class name on the grounds that it, as a dummy class which isn't intended to actually be seen in gameplay, doesn't need one.
Despite being used only as a dummy class in the final product, the "Bramimond" does possess a complete set of unused battle data, as does Bramimond himself. The class possesses a rather high set of maximum stats, identical to those of the Archsage and comparable to the Dark Druid, and the ability to wield dark magic and staves. It is possible that early on, it was planned for Bramimond to be playable in a similar capacity to Athos, though there exists no data for his signature tome.

Knight Lord
The "Knight Lord" is an unpromoted class that seems to be a mix of Eliwood's unpromoted and promoted classes. It is set as an unpromoted class, does not have the Lord flag assigned to it, and is set to promote to a Paladin. Additionally, it shares its spritework with the used Lord class, but has similar attributes and the walking sound effects of a mounted class, suggesting it originally had diffrent sprites that got overwritten later in development.

Miscellaneous
The Binding Blade ROM header
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade's ROM header can be found twice in the ROM of The Blazing Blade. In the Japanese version, it is located at offsets 0xDBAD14 and 0xDC4FBC. In the North American version, it is located at offsets 0xCF0CD0 and 0xCFA1F0.
Character battle sprite palette
Nergal erroneously has his battle sprite palette set to be used when he is in a base class, and Dark Druid is considered an advanced class. This results in him using the generic enemy palette. Similarly, Erik and Eagler possess palette sets for when they are controlled by the player, which is not possible without hacking.
