In Gaiden, the Thieves' Shrine has three exploration sections broken up by a combat encounter filled with brigands after the first room. The last room contains a Mila Shrine.

In Shadows of Valentia, there are two rooms, one with three brigands roaming about and a treasure chest containing an Iron Sword to the west side, and the other in the back containting the Mila Shrine.

At the back of the Thieves' Shrine is the first instance of a Mila Shrine, and thus the first opportunity the player has to promote their units. Silque is here as well and can be recruited. In Shadows of Valentia, she also gives you Mila's Turnwheel, regardless of whether or not she joins the party.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.
  • The Brigand Boss located here drops the Ram Wine for "The Sommelier."
    • A Mila Carving can be found in some pots after completing the quest and talking to the Greedy Old Man again.
  • 1 point of speed will usually be more useful than 1 point of HP, and so the trouble lies in who to give points to. For reference, enemy Brigands and Archers have 2-3 Speed, Soldiers have 4-5, and Cavaliers have 6-7. You can make a case for almost any unit to receive the boost, but Alm and any mercenary will not need it.
  • If seeking the Blitzkrieg achievement, you are best off avoiding the pirate encounters. Silque should receive two boosts of Speed so she can double weak enemies early on and get a head start on Warp, while the third should be saved for Clive after he promotes so he can double Act 3 Cavaliers with the Ridersbane.
