The Thief (Japanese: シーフ Thief) is a rare staff in the Fire Emblem series. Appearing in all three Super Famicom installments of the series, the Thief staff had a different effect in each one. In Mystery of the Emblem, it was a personal weapon of Marisha's and served to open distant chests. In Genealogy of the Holy War, it was actually an unused item that, if hacked into play, stole gold from its target. In Thracia 776, it was a personal weapon of Tina's and could steal a weapon, staff, or item from its target.
The Thief staff hasn't appeared in an original game since the SNES era; it did appear in New Mystery of the Emblem, the remake of its original appearance, with its original Mystery of the Emblem effect minus the personal weapon restriction.
