Plot

Main article: The Wooden Cavalry/Script

Marth and his cohort begin the march towards Altea. They are faced with the Wooden Cavalry, Grust's artillery regiment. Marth elects to charge in and silence them from up close before they can do too much damage. After the battle, Nyna notices Marth is troubled; he explains that a commoner told him that Grust is divided about the war against Altea, causing him to doubt his own feelings of hatred towards Grust and Gra.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

New Units:

  • Astram: To recruit Astram, deploy Midia, the Paladin from Chapter 12. However, be wary: Astram's base stats are disappointing. They're similar to what you'd expect from level 10 Ogma and Caesar. His value lies more in the weapons he carries rather than his combat prowess.
  • Beck: A powerful Ballistician. His capabilities are on par with Jake. You can use them interchangeably or together. Marth should head to the village to recruit Beck, who comes equipped with a Thunderbolt effective against enemy artillery.

Enemies:

  • Watch out for the many Arrowspate Ballisticians in the area. This might be a good time to keep Caeda and Minerva grounded, or even out of the battle altogether.
  • The bottom row features three immobile Ballisticians. A swift cavalry charge can neutralize them efficiently.
  • Be cautious of the enemy with a Thunderbolt; failing to do so can lead to a quick loss of one of your artillerymen.

Battle Strategy:

  • Initial Push: Armored units can attract and absorb the enemy's artillery shots. This paves the way for more vulnerable units to move in and neutralize them. Target the enemy with the Hoistflamme on the bottom row using a character with a full inventory. Transfer the Hoistflamme to the convoy afterward. Beck can then get it from Marth and use it effectively.
  • Mid-battle Tactics: With Beck's Thunderbolt, you can injure the enemy Ballisticians. Use Jake to finish them off (or reverse the roles). After the initial onslaught, advance cautiously.
  • Endgame Moves: When only Grigas and his three allies remain, bring in a General to assist in finishing them off.

Extra Note: There are no reinforcements in this chapter, so you don't need to be on the lookout for surprise attacks.
