Plot

With Tomas driven out of the monastery, Edelgard elects to use his treachery as a way to convince Rhea to lend her support in ousting Lord Arundel from the Empire. As Shez and Arval brood over the latter's possible connection to Kronya and her ilk, Edelgard recruits Shez to her cause. Together with Hubert, Dorothea, Petra, Monica, and Jeritza, the group makes for Enbarr. Realizing what is happening, Lord Arundel orders his men to warn his associate in the Kingdom, Cleobulus, of Edelgard's actions. Edelgard and her loyalists besiege the palace, arrest Duke Aegir, and force Lord Arundel to drop his own disguise before fleeing.
After the battle, Hubert explains that Arundel is a member of a hostile faction seeking to conquer Fódlan from the shadows, a faction he has dubbed "those who slither in the dark". The remaining Black Eagles arrive in Enbarr and, together with Counts Bergliez and Hevring, swear fealty to Edelgard and prepare to crown her emperor. Edelgard orders Counts Bergliez and Hevring to begin preparations for her plans in two years' time and appoints Count Varley to the post of bishop of the newly restored Southern Church. Later, she visits Shez in their quarters and explains her vision of a world in which people rise to greatness not because of station, but because of merit. Edelgard convinces Shez to accept a post as an officer in her new military.
In light of the coup in Adrestia, in addition to a succession crisis in Faerghus and an attempted Almyran invasion of Leicester, Rhea closes the Officer's Academy and sends the students home.

Strategy

S-rank requirements: 13 minutes, 1000 kills, 40% damage taken.
You got a Venin Edge and a Leather Shield in the last battle - give them both to Shez. You are allowed to use four units for your direct control and two as CPU allies. Edelgard is an obvious must due to being your only native axe-wielder against the hostile Soldiers. You will also have to control at least one Monk; Hubert is generally the best of the three you have. The fourth slot can go to any unit you favor.
Once the battle starts, have Shez immediately seize the Material Storehouse. Then assume control of Edelgard, battle your way to the Throne Room, and seize that. Duke Aegir will flee, so assume control of your Monk and pursue. Kill your way through the Armored Knights and seize the Indoor Gardens. As you continue southwards towards the Open Hall, Counts Bergliez and Hevring will mutiny and join you as green NPC allies. Break through to the central hall and send your allies to start clearing out hostile commanders. Duke Aegir will activate two Fire Orbs to rain artillery fire upon you, so have a Monk and Edelgard knock those out while Shez goes after the Fighter with the Chest Key. Once they're all dead, send someone expendable to loot the chest and have your Monks dispose of Duke Aegir.
Once Aegir is down, Lord Arundel spawns in the northwest and summons three Mysterious Mages to conjure a wall to protect him. Send your physical units to kill them all. Make good use of the orders system to wipe out the enemy commanders with the units you aren't controlling. Once the mages are down, you can seize all of the remaining strongholds and defeat Lord Arundel. If you're running short on kills and have some time to spare, you can attack the generic goons to bolster your score. Once Arundel goes down, you win.
