The King's Triumphant Return (Japanese: 王の凱旋 King's Triumphant Return) is the eighteenth chapter of Fire Emblem: Three Houses in the Azure Moon route.

Plot

Main article: The King's Triumphant Return/Script

As the Faerghus army discusses recent events in the wake of Gronder, Dimitri arrives and apologizes for his selfish actions in the pursuit of his revenge. He declares that their next objective will be to liberate Fhirdiad from the rebel Faerghus forces. At the end of the month, Dimitri marches for Fhirdiad, causing the oppressed citizens to revolt against Cornelia's tyranny. Unable to divert forces to suppress the rebellion in the face of Dimitri's army, Cornelia grumbles about how he and Edelgard should have just killed each other and deploys Titanus to face him. Her forces buckle, Dimitri reclaims Fhirdiad, and Cornelia is mortally wounded. Before dying, she implicates Dimitri's stepmother Patricia in the Tragedy of Duscur and confesses to helping orchestrate the massacre. Afterwards, Dimitri decides to force the treasonous nobles back into his service and continue to investigate the Tragedy. The civilians of Fhirdiad joyously welcome Dimitri home and celebrate his return, much to his shock. After the victory celebration, Dimitri thanks Byleth for their guidance and discusses Edelgard's motivations, concluding that a revolution wrought by bloodshed is not worth the cost. A soldier arrives and reveals that Claude has sent an urgent messenger.
