Plot

Main article: Tears of a Dragon/Script

As Corrin and Azura tread along the underground passage, Corrin notes the passage's sheer length and wonders if they made a wrong turn somewhere, to which Azura states that she remembers the part of the tunnel they're in and believes them to be getting close to their destination; a reassured Corrin states that they appear to be approaching a dead end, to which Azura states that there are stairs on one side that can't be easily seen from Corrin's angle and deduces that the exit must be at the top. Corrin deduces that the heart of Nohrian power is right above them and suggests that only a few of them take a quick look, suggesting it to be reckless for the entire army to enter Castle Krakenberg all at once, to which Azura agrees; Corrin, Azura, and Ryoma proceed to emerge onto a training ground for Nohrian soldiers, bewildering Corrin and with Ryoma noting that the soldiers in the area are being put through their paces. As Corrin states that they've at least entered the castle, Ryoma notes that the soldiers in the area are Nohr's most elite, to which Corrin suggests that the group keep quiet before Ryoma notices someone coming; Hans arrives on the scene and tells the soldiers that they're supposed to be in a full contact exercise and that he wants to see blood, prompting a Nohrian soldier to address him in military style. Corrin, noticing Hans, deduces that Garon must have given him a promotion, to which Ryoma deduces that Hans is in charge of this group of soldiers; Corrin states that they are not a vengeful person but reveals that Hans is the one who killed Gunter in front of them and expresses their desire to avenge his death, which causes Nohrian soldiers to notice Corrin's group and prompting Hans to suggest the group be used for target practice before noticing Corrin.

Hans asks Corrin how they got into the training ground, to which Corrin states that they have nothing to say to a coward like him and would rather let their Noble Yato do the talking; Hans, feeling threatened in front of his own battalion, calls his soldiers into action to fight Corrin's group, with the soldiers proceeding to take on Corrin's group who have upper hand. As the skirmish continues, Corrin asks Hans if all of his soldiers are poorly trained and what Garon would think of it, to which Hans states that Corrin's all talk and demands that the soldiers sacrifice themselves if they need to for Garon's glory; a Nohrian soldier attempts to question Hans, to which Hans offers the soldier an opportunity to have his words relayed to Garon who would be sympathetic to the soldier and his family before reiterating his command to have the soldiers quiet down and kill Corrin's group. As the skirmish continues and one of the Generals is defeated, a breathless Corrin prompts Hans to state that Corrin's how Hans remembers them and tells his soldiers to not let up as they have Corrin right where they want them; Corrin states that they'll show Hans who's pathetic, to which Hans states that Corrin's not the only one who's gotten stronger and reveals that he's Garon's newest captain and states that he'll show how he got his promotion, moving next to Corrin and engaging themselves, prompting Ryoma to call out toward Corrin. As Hans is about to attack Corrin, Lilith appears and takes the hit meant for Corrin; Corrin cries out toward Lilith and asks that she speak to them, to which Hans curses out Lilith and vows not to miss again and will have Corrin's head off with his next swing, prompting Corrin to state that Hans will pay for what he's done and that they will kill him with their own two hands. Preparations take place at this point; the battle begins once preparations are finished.

Once the battle ends, Ryoma and Takumi look over the area, to which Ryoma asks the Nohrian soldiers to stand down as Hans has been defeated, and that their lives will be spared if they drop their weapons, to which two Nohrian soldiers mull over Hans's death and Ryoma's request before agreeing to surrender; Takumi relays the Nohrian soldiers' surrender to Ryoma, to which Ryoma states that they're done in this area before Hinoka reveals that they've got a problem of their own--Lilith took quite a shot from Hans earlier. Cutting over to Corrin holding Lilith with Sakura and Elise at their sides as snow begins to fall, Corrin asks Lilith to open her eyes and reveals that Hans has been killed, begging for her to be OK; Sakura states that Lilith is too far gone for her rod to work and states that she doesn't think she can save her, and after a shocked reaction from Corrin, Elise states that her staff also isn't helping, prompting Corrin to state that what's going on can't be happening.

Lilith transforms back into her human state, surprising Corrin; Lilith states that she's only got a moment left, that the Astral Dragon Moro has taken pity on her and let her resume her human form for her last few breaths; as Corrin begs Lilith to not die, Lilith asks Corrin to not cry and states that she decided to give her life for them and is happy that she succeeded, revealing that Corrin saved her life once and that they're now even and she can die with no regrets. Corrin states that they could end the war before the day is up and that Lilith could live in a peaceful world, asking her not to give up, to which Lilith states that she knows how far they've come and knows Corrin will succeed; Lilith states that she can die happy, remembering their time together and the progress they've made, then with her last breath, asks Corrin to be brave and go on without her. As Ryoma is seen walking toward the scene, Corrin and Elise break into tears while Sakura apologizes for not being able to save Lilith; as Corrin continues to grieve over Lilith, Ryoma asks Corrin to look up and dry their tears and think about Lilith's sacrifice--Lilith gave her life so Corrin could continue fighting for peace, Mikoto, and the whole world, and asks Corrin if Lilith would want them to give up in this fashion, prompting a downtrodden reaction from Corrin. Ryoma states that it's time Corrin rises to the occasion, and that now's the time for action if they want to end the war, to which Corrin states that they are tired of loss and death; Ryoma states that there'll be a time for rest but it's not that moment, then states that the Yato chose Corrin and that everyone's counting on them, to which Corrin states that Ryoma's right and that they will not stop until Garon's reign of terror is over, calling the army back into action. Elise points Corrin toward Garon's room, and asks Corrin to promise to at least try talking things over first, to which Corrin agrees; Corrin then thanks Lilith and bids her farewell.

Summary

The group makes it through the labyrinth and enters the castle, but they're surprised by where they emerge and by the enemy that is waiting for them there.
