Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Tanith is the only prepromoted falcoknight to join, and the third mounted flier. Due to her excellent class, at base, she has 9 move with flight and canto, making her extremely mobile and flexible. She has a decent strength base, enough base durability, and excellent skill, speed, and luck base. She comes with A rank swords and B rank lances, so her weapon repertoire is flexible. Her magic stat is passable for a physical unit, so she can make decent use of the Sonic Sword and Flame Lance.

Tanith has passable strength and speed growths, and excellent skill growth. She can often face strength and durability issues in lategame on higher difficulties, though this can be compensated with powerful forges thanks to her excellent weapon ranks. In the long run, a trained Marcia or Jill will often surpass Tanith, but Tanith still remains one of the fastest units in the entire game due to her speed base. She requires absolutely no investment, and she is extremely valuable as a free 9 move flier with Reinforce.

Tanith has the Reinforce skill which is unique to her, and one of the most useful skills in the game. Each time she uses it, she summons three partner units: a very powerful falcoknight (often with capped stats and powerful weapons), and two decent pegasus knights. She can use this skill twice per chapter. This skill is incredibly flexible. These units can be used as dispensable meatshields or sacrifices, lures for siege tomes and ballista, weakening powerful enemy units, and so on. Most notably, they're one of the safest options for luring Naesala on chapter 18. The falcoknight is extremely powerful herself though her AI is often unpredictable.

Tanith only has space for other skills with 5 capacity. Miracle can help improve her durability, though it should not be relied upon. If for some reason, the player wants to remove Reinforce, Tanith is also an excellent user of Savior due to her flight utility, though this is not recommended as Marcia and Jill are other fliers that can learn Savior without sacrificing other skills.

Tanith has an earth affinity which gives a massive avoid boost. Oscar is an excellent support partner, as with his own earth affinity and similar mobility, both units will gain a massive +30 avoid at A support. Marcia is also a good partner, as her fire affinity gives an appreciated attack and accuracy boost, benefits from Tanith's extra avoid, and she is the same class as Tanith. Reyson also gives the same boost and appreciates the avoid boost due to his frailty, though he does not benefit from the offensive boost, and his unique role may make it difficult to keep them together.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Tanith is a falcoknight that joins Ike's group in chapter 3-11. As a falcoknight, she has high mobility, flight, and canto, which is extremely valuable, because up to this point, Haar has been the only mounted flier on Ike's team. She joins with above average strength and skill, and mediocre speed and durability. She has an A rank in both swords and lances; the only standard swords and lances she can't use are the Tempest Blade and Spear. Tanith has a unique biorhythm curve, being at best for 8 consecutive turns then going down to worst for another 8 consecutive turns. This makes it easy to predict and take advantage of, as she will have +10% hit and avoid and skill activation rates for 8 turns. When she hits her worst curve, one use of Bliss will bring her back up to 8 turns of biorhythm benefits. Path of Radiance Tanith caps speed and skill on average, so transfers helps significantly as she gets a needed speed boost; tranfers let her cap speed and skill in 2 levels before promoting, letting her fix her weaker stats. Transfers may also buff Tanith's weapon ranks enough so she can use the powerful Spear and Tempest Blade earlier.

Tanith's bases are relatively weak compared to other units like Ike, Haar, and Titania, and are much more of a problem in harder difficulties. It is recommended to promote Tanith on her join chapter, as she joins at a high level and gains a necessary +4 strength and +2 speed bonus that is immediately applicable. She joins when a lot of BEXP is obtained from the Crimean Royal Knights, so there is often more than enough BEXP to promote her; alternatively, a master crown can be used to early-promote her.

Tanith has a solid balance of growths and bases to stay powerful through part 4; in tier 3, on average, she caps strength, skill, and defense far before level 20, giving her plenty of opportunity to patch her weaker stats. As her speed growth is weaker, she will want to cap her other stats and/or get a speedwing to help double faster enemy units. She performs well on any part 4 team as a mounted flier, though Micaiah's team appreciates fliers the most thanks to the desert. There are crossbow users scattered through part 4 that one-shot Tanith, so one must be cautious around them. Tanith makes an excellent endgame candidate thanks to flight, canto, and excellent stat spread for her class, though she will struggle against generals due to lack of hammer access.

Tanith has no skills at base. Tanith gets much use out of Nullify as it negates her primary weakness of bows and wind magic, allowing her to be exposed to more enemy phases in rout chapters. She can also make good use of Savior thanks to her class. Adept and Resolve both help fix her potential speed issues and boost her offense. As she has an excellent skill growth, she will frequently be activating Stun. Take note that her biorhythm curve affects her skill activation rates, where they will be reliably +10% higher for several turns, then -10% lower for several turns.

Tanith has an earth affinity which gives pure avoid. Her ideal partner is Sigrun as they have a boosted support growth and Sigrun has a water affinity, giving an attack and defense boost. She can also pair with Oscar or Ike for the double earth A support, gaining +45 avoid; however, her later join time makes it difficult to raise her support levels with them. Similarly, Titania's light affinity gives a useful light defense and avoid boost and is mounted, but again Tanith's join time makes it difficult to raise their support level.

Personality and character

This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.

Tanith is a fierce pegasus knight who puts all of her trust in the apostle Sanaki. She is rather strict and earns the respect of her fellow officers this way. She is not forgiving as such, but she does feel sympathy for others (such as Marcia).

My life belongs to my master... It is not my place to die here. Forgive me. I believed all too much in my own strength.
— Tanith, in Path of Radiance.
I got...a little too cocky... May fortune follow you, Apostle...
— Tanith in Part 3 of Radiant Dawn.

Battle quotes

After the fleet has escaped, we’ll meet up elsewhere!
— An unused quote intended to be Tanith's escape quote in Path of Radiance.
So you’re the one who led the defection to Daein, Lord Fizzart! The man I heard tales about and the reality of what I see before me are quite different. [...] It is said that after the last apostle died, the corrupted senate drove one man to leave Begnion. He was said to be in search of a better life, and he became a hero to many young wyvern riders. [...] I had been looking forward to meeting you in the flesh–perhaps even to speaking with you. But now... You would sacrifice the lives of your people just to slow our progress? What kind of dangerous fool are you? [...] I will not allow you to besmirch the name of Begnion’s wyvern riders any further. Prepare yourself!
— Tanith, when fighting Shiharam in chapter 20 of Path of Radiance.

Radiant Dawn

Come to me, you dogs. Whatever might you think you possess pales to that of the Holy Guard.
— Tanith in Chapter 12 of Part 3.
For the people, you say? Look around you, naive girl! Is all this death for the people?!
— If Jill fights her in Chapter 12 of Part 3.
I don't understand why you are with the Daein army, but it doesn't matter. All I need to know is that you stand before me. Are you my enemy, then? Or is this some kind of mistake?
— If Sothe fights her in Chapter 12 of Part 3..
You used to fight alongside the Greil Mercenaries! You now fight for Daein? But General Ike is on our si--
— If Zihark fights her in Chapter 12 of Part 3.
Jill Fizzart! You shall pay for your treachery! May the goddess have mercy on you, where I cannot. Prepare to die.
— If fighting against Jill in the final chapter of Part 3.
Oathbreakers! You are servants of the empire and the apostle! The Holy Knights will teach you the meaning of loyalty.
— Against Yuma.
I am second commander Tanith of the Holy Knights! Enemies of the apostle, beware!
— Against Numida.
Senator Hetzel, Duke of Asmin! You are guilty of treason against our empress!
— Against Hetzel.
Very true. Empress Sanaki is my liege, and as her knight, it is my duty to destroy her enemies.
— Against Lekain.
Sir Levail! How dare you raise your sword against Empress Sanaki! Has Goddess Ashera taken over your mind, too?
— Against Levail.
So as long as you're alive, the doors don't open? I've got an easy solution to that problem.
— Against Sephiran.
