In my Fan translation for Thracia 776, this class is just called Armor Knight. Emperor Hardin (talk) 08:49, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Okay I think I have a bit to say about this but first I'll put the edit comments here so we actually have a coherent discussion thread.
(25 October 2015‎) Shiningpikablu252: I don't see any valid argument favoring merging this into the Knight page. Especially a flimsy excuse such as a fan translation in the face of the actual Japanese kanji, official romanizations, and official international names...
(11 February 2016‎) Emperor Hardin: There's more then just the fan translation, the armor in Lance Armor is the same as the Armor in Armor Knight. Meanwhile the Fighter in Axe Fighter is different, yet they're considered the same class.
First, I should mention about axe fighters: they're considered the same class because a localization made them the same class. FE14 had axe fighters in Japanese, spelled identically to FE4/5, which became just fighters in English. The only localized appearance of armored lances, on the other hand, called them... armored lances, not knights. I wouldn't exactly be lining up to cite the current FE5 translation as a credible source, either, since it's kind of a complete mess which isn't known for including everything or being accurate (I mean come on, they called Physic "Psychic"!). Certainly not to the point of overriding FE10's localization.
For what it's worth, I don't think the merge would be good, but I don't think it'd be bad either. I'm kind of indifferent to the idea. --PA (talk) 03:02, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
There's much more to it then the translation, Which I'll list. Good point on the Fates translation, but we don't know how they'd translate the Fighter class of the Jugdral games.
* Fighter is very different throughout the series. In Gaiden, the Fighter class is a one of a kind personal class that uses Swords, looks more like a mercenary, and per being a personal class shares class Data with Dark God. In Thracia 776, the Axe Fighter is very different from the previous depiction of the Fighter, being a Fast, skillful fighter without unusually high Strength, akin to a Mercenary with an axe. The Brigand class in Thracia 776 seems to be in the tradition fighter role, including a Warrior promotion.
* The Armored Lance is identical to how the Knight class in in every game which always uses Lances. Its always a slow armored infantry that can use Lances. I'd argue they're one of the most constant classes in the series.
* It should also be noted, that Armor Knights, and Armored Lances have never appeared together unlike Cavalier, and Lance Knight. All things considered, I'd a::rgue they're extremely constant, always a common class with its own category that wields Lances.
* In Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, and Fire Emblem Fates, the class is spelled アクスファイター, with the spelling of fighter being different from the spelling of Fighter(戦士) used in Mystery. I'd argue Armored Lance Japanese spelling(ランスアーマー) shares more similarities with Armor Knight(アーマーナイト) as it contains the same spelling of Armor(アーマ), while the fighter in Axe Fighter is spelled differently.
* The TCG game distinguises between Mercenary and Hero for the Thracia expansion, but not Armor Knight and Lance Armor Knight which are considered the same, the same is with Axe Fighter, and Fighter. Note that the other new classes in Thracia 776, Mercenary, Archer, Soldier, Dragon Rider, Pegasus Rider were distinguished from their Genealogy of the Holy Warrior counterparts.
* The argument for Outlaw being separate here is that its too dissimilar to the traditional class. But I say Axe Wielding Criminals without Moneybags over their shoulder in their map sprites, or Hoods, unlike every other thief in the series is much more different then Outlaws, and Thieves with the two classes looking identical aside from one using a Bow. And I already explained the Fighter differences, especially in Gaiden.
* I can say very reliably that if Gaiden was translated by Nintendo, the Brigand style Thief would not be called thief, while the Lord known as Fighter would not be called Fighter.
Thats fine. If the FireEmblemWiki just needs a consistent stance on things. Do we rely on Western Names for classes being singular, Japanese names, or functionality? Right now, we aren't consistent. A good example being we have two Ranger articles, one for the mounted class, and the other for Ike's class. Emperor Hardin (talk) 03:38, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
I don't believe the spelling argument holds water, because every class in Jugdral uses katakana, so mage and pirate for example are マージ and パイレーツ instead of the まどうし and かいぞく from the previous games. Using a different example: The spelling doesn't mean that the junior lord is more the same class as lord than the hiragana and katakana mages since junior lord has ロード in it. While I'm ok with it remaining two different pages, now that Fighter is split, I do think its interesting to note that Armor Knight has gone through name changes and is still considered the same class. The Radiant Dawn art book calls them Armor Knight unlike with the mounted variant classes. Emperor Hardin (talk) 20:57, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
The Armor (アーマー) name from FE2, FE4, and FE15 has now been officially localized as Knight. PikaSamus (talk) 21:07, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Though Armored *Weapon* was localized in FE Hero as *Weapon* Knight. Emperor Hardin (talk) 21:11, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
