“ | Look, all that fightin' stuff's beyond me. | ” | — Tailtiu, on her father's actions |
---|
Tailtiu (Japanese: ティルテュ Tailto) was the middle child of Duke Reptor of the Friege dukedom of Grannvale. Uninterested in her father's avaricious schemes and opposition to the Chalphy family, she accompanied Duke Claud of Edda to Agustria as a bodyguard, and with him joined the army of Sigurd of Chalphy in fighting the Orgahil pirates, in exile to Silesse and in their ill-fated march on Grannvale to clear Sigurd's name.
Tailtiu survived the Battle of Belhalla, after which she fled to Silesse with her children, Arthur and Tine. Though she successfully spent years in hiding there, she and Tine were eventually discovered and captured by her brother Bloom, leaving Arthur behind[2]; Tailtiu and Tine were imprisoned and subjected to the care of Bloom's wife Hilda, whose years of constant abuse resulted in Tailtiu's death.[3][4]
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Role
Six months into Sigurd's occupation of Agustria, Tailtiu accompanied Claud to Agustria to confer with Sigurd, where she expressed her disinterest in her father's behavior. She then followed Claud to Bragi Tower, and the two emerged from it after Sigurd defeated Chagall at Sylvale Castle. With the Orgahil pirates running rampant in the area, she protected Claud until the two could return to Sigurd's group.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Tailtiu joins in Chapter 3 of Genealogy of the Holy War, in its first generation. Her base level is only 3, so she is severely underleveled and needs a significant amount of experience to reach promotion. To that end, she can utilize the tools she has at base level: Wrath, which guarantees her attacks crit when she is below 50% HP, and the Thoron tome she joins with, which has a high 20 might. Thoron is inaccurate at 70 hit, but Tailtiu's base skill is very high and she has a high skill growth, mitigating Thoron's low hit. When Wrath is active, Tailtiu can one-shot most enemies with her Thoron tome, but setting it up requires that she remain close to death. Her durability is extremely poor and will likely never significantly improve, so taking advantage of her Wrath skill is inherently risky – not only must she stay below half health, but most enemies will kill her in that state.
Tailtiu is restricted to foot movement before and after promotion, limiting her range and usefulness. In Genealogy of the Holy War—the first generation of especially—being unmounted means falling far behind the front line, making it impossible to contribute in most cases. Still, if Tailtiu can reach the front line, she can be useful in providing extra magic damage against the mostly low-resistance foes in the game. Tailtiu gain a significant number of levels by rescuing villagers in Chapter 4, as the player's other units may not need as many levels at that point. She can also gain much experience in her joining chapter, as she joins alongside Claud (who can heal her) and is surrounded by enemy pirates. The only other unit near Tailtiu who can kill the pirates is Brigid, who is already promoted and in less need of experience.
Tailtiu's combat is hampered by her lack of Follow-Up, preventing her from doubling enemies. While she can kill most enemies with a crit, not every enemy will die to it, and Tailtiu may not always be at low HP. She does gain Adept upon promotion to War Mage, but it is not a reliable replacement for Follow-Up. Additionally, Tailtiu suffers from weapon triangle disadvantage throughout Chapter 4; she can only use thunder tomes before promotion, which suffer disadvantage against the wind tomes common in Chapter 4.
Tailtiu's promotion gives her some statistical bonuses and access to staves, so she can contribute with staves from that point forward if desired. Other benefits it provides her with include access to magic types other than thunder magic, and an additional point of movement. Tailtiu does gain access to swords and the weapon level to use the magical ones, but her strength is low and she is frail, limiting her ability to fight most enemies at 1-range.
As a mother, Tailtiu's two magical children can vary drastically in quality. Azelle provides the most straightforward boost to both Arthur and Tine, granting both children Follow-Up and minor Fjalar blood. Combined with Tailtiu's minor Thrud blood, Arthur and Tine will have very solid magic, skill, and speed on top of improved Fire and Thunder ranks. Lewyn is the other good magical option; while he offers relatively little to Tine—granting her Minor Foresti blood, which improves her speed—he passes Major Forseti blood and the Forseti tome to Arthur. Arthur is arguably the best user of Forseti (over Ced and Coirpre), as he joins almost from the start and gains a mount upon promotion; he will not have Follow-Up, but the Forseti blood and tome give him enough speed to activate Adept reliably. Claud, while he shows up with Tailtiu and is magic-oriented, does not make a good father for either child. Cluad cannot pass his staves to either child, as Arthur cannot use staves and Tine only gains access to them on promotion; the additional staff rank from Bragi blood gives her access to Rescue and Fortify, but she is not the best user of either.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
Tailtiu is one of the characters added to the game in the World of Holy War update, and became available for summoning by players on October 16, 2017. Only one variation of Tailtiu is currently available in Heroes, based on her Genealogy of the Holy War incarnation.
Although initially available exclusively at five-star rarity when initially added to the game and added to the four-star summoning pool after the end of her initial New Heroes summoning event, a three-star variation of Tailtiu was distributed to players who cleared her themed Four Heroes event map; a rarity pool shake-up on April 5, 2019 made Tailtiu available in three-star rarity via normal summoning.

Personality and character
Prior to her incarceration, Tailtiu was upbeat, flighty, loud-mouthed, slightly short-tempered and blunt, willing to express her opinion on matters without caring for tact, particularly when bored.[5] Despite her exterior, she was easily concerned about the opinions others held about her, particularly in the context of her father's status as the nemesis of her allies in Sigurd's army.[6] She and Azelle of Velthomer were close friends since their childhood.[7]
Love growths and events
|
- In Chapter 4, if neither of them has a lover, Tailtiu can talk to Azelle at any time, granting her +5 maximum HP and 100 love points between the pair.
- In Chapter 5, if the two are lovers, Tailtiu can talk to Claud, Lex or Azelle after Phinora Castle has been seized. This conversation yields no reward.

Trivia
- Tailtiu shares her class, weapon, skills and appearance with Anguilla of the Deadlords in the latter's Genealogy of the Holy War incarnation, suggesting that after Tailtiu's death, her body was used to create this particular incarnation of Anguilla.
