The Steel Shield (Japanese: 鋼の盾 Steel Shield) is an accessory item in the shield category of equipment exclusive to Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It is the third in the standard line of shields, better than the Leather and Iron Shields but still inferior to the Silver Shield, and gives a decent boost of 5 points of defense to units who equip it. In Shadows of Valentia, it also teaches the Defensive combat art, which allows the user to temporarily improve their physical defenses even further.
