Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Sin appears in the first level of the western Isles arc, Chapter 9. The sacaean nomad appears as an enemy that you can recruit only by talking to him with Sue. Wich means he gets hard mode bonuses when playing on hard mode. I'm starting this analysis with this information because this is really huge in Sin's usefulness : while in normal mode, he would not seem that strong ( although his bases for a level 5 are killer ), he's only level 5 : your deployment slots may all already be taken by better characters. If you trained Sue, she'd be better than him at this point and having 2 bow users can hamper your enemy phase prowess. On hard mode however, it's quite a different story. Sin really profit of those hard mode bonuses, and end up having insane hp, strength, and speed. His defense is nothing to scoff at neither. That coupled with high skill and accurate bows, Sin has no trouble dealing huge damage to enemies. He can actually have trouble one rounding them, but so does your best units at this point of the game.
However, with all of that said, Sin does suffer from the same curse than Rutger : Doesn't have acces to neither lances or axes. Even if Fe6 is friendly with bow users ( Player phase being more important, loads of wyver riders ), Gba bows are still Gba bows. While he gets swords upon promotion, it's only iron swords for quite a while, and Dieck/Rutger needs the light brand more than him.
Lastly, training Sin does make your experience distribution move more toward Sacae ( which you might want to avoid, considered by a lot of players to be harder than Ilia ), so be careful with that.
Overall, Sin's success really depends on what mode you're playing. On easy mode, he's pretty good, but joins under leveled. If you've trained Sue, she might be better/on par with him now : he can still be good, his growths certainly able to keep him with the pack. On hard mode though, he's at the level of Rutger and Dieck considering joining strength : not as much as a "must use" because you start to have more and more options from then on, but a really strong asset to any teams.
