Analysis
Shamir is a bow-focused unit recruitable in all routes in part one. Her highest growths are in Dexterity and Luck, while her growths in Strength and Speed are average. Even at the earliest chance to recruit her, she has an A-rank in bows, already giving her access to all of her bow combat arts with no need for additional training. Additionally, she comes with Close Counter and her personal skill, Survival Instinct, which boosts her strength, magic, dexterity, and speed by four points if she kills an enemy on the player phase, both of which give Shamir a strong enemy phase. Unfortunately, her offensive stats as a Sniper are occasionally too low to kill an enemy in one-round, meaning she will need to rely on the Brave Bow, critical hits, Hunter's Volley, or other allies to weaken enemies to activate her skill. Nevertheless, Survival Instinct makes her a beast on the enemy phase, especially in Part I when enemies are too weak to exploit her rather low defenses and will have difficulty hitting her in the first place. Her personal skill also stacks with any buffs she has received from Special Dance or Rally skills, making her even stronger if danced to take advantage of these buffs on the player phase. However, after the timeskip, keeping Shamir as a Sniper will result in her having an even harder time activating her personal skill as enemies become much more difficult to double or one-round and become much stronger, enabling them to kill her on the enemy phase. Defensive terrain can mitigate her low defenses, but attacking from such terrain is not always an option.
The easiest class promotion choice is to make Shamir a Bow Knight as it allows her to attack from 4-range, thus avoiding the potential for getting counterattacked, in addition to granting her eight movement instead of five and access to Canto, allowing her to reposition herself so as to take better advantage of buffs she may have received from her personal skill. While Shamir does come with all she needs to become a Bow Knight, besides a high enough Riding rank, Shamir is potentially better off class changing into a Pegasus Knight and then promoting into a Falcon Knight. As mentioned above, Shamir will struggle to secure kills as the game progresses and thus find herself unable to activate Survival Instinct largely due to her average strength and speed growths. Class changing Shamir into a Pegasus Knight not only gives her a higher base speed but also grants her Darting Blow if she masters the class, enabling her to double more frequently and potentially netting her more kills on the player phase all while allowing her to continue using bows. Upon promoting into a Falcoknight she will have six higher speed and one more strength than she would as a Bow Knight while retaining the advantages Canto and eight movement grant her. If you want to give Death Blow to Shamir instead, you can class change her into a Brigand, and upon mastering the class, make her a Wyvern Rider with the ultimate goal of promoting her into a Wyvern Lord. The base stats of the Wyvern Lord and Falcon Knight only differ in their defensive stats meaning that as a Wyvern Lord, Shamir enjoys the same advantages.

Unusually for a Knight of Seiros, Shamir does not actually practice the faith, and is only personally loyal to Rhea.

Shamir, Distant Archer
Shortly after the war, Shamir gave up the mercenary life and disappeared. Though she was never heard from again, rumors swirled persistently for years of a master archer turned thief who lined her pockets by shaking down all those who preyed upon the innocent.
Byleth, Guardian of Order & Shamir, Distant Archer (Azure Moon)
Byleth announced his marriage to Shamir shortly after being named archbishop of the Church of Seiros. While the archbishop focused on the rebuilding effort, Shamir became his bodyguard and confidant. She even acted as a deputy captain of the Knights of Seiros, and in that capacity, became quite popular. As a couple, their daily lives were busy indeed, and both were famously taciturn, but it is said that they cherished their quiet time together - especially once they began to have children.
Verdant Wind
Byleth, Ruler of Dawn & Shamir, Distant Archer
Byleth announced his marriage to Shamir shortly after becoming leader of the United Kingdom of Fódlan. While the king focused on the rebuilding effort, Shamir became his bodyguard and confidant. She even acted as captain of the royal guard, and became known as a watchful and trustworthy queen. As a couple, their daily lives were busy indeed, and both were famously taciturn, but it is said that they cherished their quiet time together—especially once they began to have children.
Claude, King of Unification & Shamir, Distant Archer
After the war, Claude returned home to Almyra and took his place in the royal family. Some years later he became king, and during his reign, promoted policies to improve relations with Fódlan and protect children who had been left orphaned by the war. After he achieved his goals, he left the throne to a family member and left Almyra. During his travels, he encountered Shamir, who had been wandering the world as a mercenary. It is known that they traveled together from that day forward, but where they journeyed to remains a mystery.
Shamir, Distant Archer & Leonie, The Blade Breaker II
Leonie assumed leadership of the mercenaries formerly led by Jeralt. One day, she was hired to protect a noble who had been warned of a bandit attack. The warning note listed all of the noble's foul deeds, and was signed with the image of a spider, which Leonie recognized. Just as she suspected, the one who came on the appointed day was none other than Shamir. Leonie was happy to break her contract on this occasion, and even offered Shamir a position in her company. The result was the most famous mercenary group ever to exist in Fódlan. It is said that their flag bore the image of a spider, and...another vaguely arachnid creature.
Catherine, Free Knight & Shamir, Distant Archer
After quitting the Knights of Seiros, Catherine and Shamir set out on a lifelong journey together. The pair were inseparable as they traveled across Fódlan, and eventually wound up in Shamir's homeland of Dagda. They faced many hardships on their adventures, some of which were self-inflicted, as the duo had a way of sticking their noses into others' business in their efforts to right wrongs. It is said, however, that no foe they encountered ever proved a match for the combined might of Shamir's marksmanship and Catherine's Thunderbrand.
