Ward (Japanese: ウォード Ward) is a playable character in TearRing Saga Series: Berwick Saga.

TearRing Saga Series: Berwick Saga

Role

Ward is the second main character of TearRing Saga Series: Berwick Saga. Like Reese, he can only participate in primary missions and certain mandatory side missions, but unlike his lord, he is not strictly forced to be deployed. If deployed on a mission, his death (or capture) means an automatic Game Over. As a Veteran Knight, Ward can easily accomplish many tasks that would be challenging to most other Sinon Knights or mercenaries, at least until late into the campaign.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Within Reese's army, Ward fulfills a role similar to Fire Emblem's Jagen or Marcus. His high level grants him access to pretty much all of the best equipment in the game from the start, and his high stats make him the most reliable fighter on main missions for quite some time. Even at the very end of the game, Ward will remain a reliable unit with just his starting attributes.

As a horse rider with access to medium-size shields, and with his skill Robust preventing injuries, Ward can safely charge ahead without much fear for his own safety. He can be used to safely secure some time-sensitive objectives, such as a retreating unit carrying treasure. Ward is one of the most solid units with access to the skill Guard, which allows him to reliably protect an adjacent unit by engaging combat in their stead, at only a minor cost to his own defenses.

He's a solid, uncomplicated unit that is always worth deploying when available. While combat training will do very little to improve Ward's own abilities, his presence helps make the battlefield safer for other units, which overall will increase their own ability to gain experience.
