As Runan departs Isura, Holmes elects to suppress the bandits around Wellt in order to secure its safety. Runan makes for Mahl, which has fallen under the rule of the Kingdom of Istoria ever since Istoria betrayed Mahl at the Battle of Balt. Eugen suggests allying with Prince Richard of Mahl and Princess Tia of Leda, who have made headway reclaiming Mahl from Istoria. Upon Leda coming up in discussion, Eugen recounts how King Glaus of Leda attempted to use the Holy Dragon Kranion as a weapon of war against Salia, resulting in both kingdoms' destruction. He warns Runan never to repeat Grauss' mistake. Accepting Eugen's counsel, Runan continues west.

Meanwhile, Richard begins the final push to reclaim Mahl Palace. The enemy commander, Prince Ronald of Istoria, recognizes the battle is lost; he ruminates on how his father's ambition will cost them the kingdom and recounts how he rescued Tia. Richard seizes the palace as Runan arrives at Mahl Harbor.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Narcus steals 50% of Runan's war funds at the end of the chapter, so save a few Gold Bags. Narcus will only return with the money in Map 25. This chapter has a Secret Shop while the next chapter has an armory and vendor (and one of the game's two Wyvern Flutes for 10,000 gold), so be sure to spend wisely. The key to the secret shop is two tiles to the right of Narcus' starting position. This is also the first chapter to have witches, which will randomly teleport each turn and attack anyone in range; so watch out and kill them as soon as possible before they target your weaker units.
