Rufus (pronounced /ˈɹufəs/[key]; Japanese: リュファス Rufus) is a non-playable character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. He is the elder brother of Lambert and the Regent of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus.
Biography
Rufus was the firstborn son of House Blaiddyd in Faerghus and older brother of Lambert. As Lambert possessed a Crest that Rufus did not, his younger brother was preferred in the line of succession; Rufus was granted the title of Grand Duke of Itha, and Lambert inherited the crown of the kingdom.[1]
After Lambert died in the Tragedy of Duscur in Imperial year 1176, Rufus assumed the role of the Kingdom's regent, as his nephew and Faergus's crown prince Dimitri was too young to assume the throne.[2] His temporary rule was jeopardized by rumors the he was complicit with the tragedy in order to claim the throne for himself.[3]
In 1181 of non-Crimson Flower routes, Rufus is murdered by Faerghus's Court mage Cornelia, who framed Dimitri for his murder as means of destabilizing the Kingdom.[4] In Crimson Flower, Rufus is not murdered by Cornelia; he ultimately becomes the last living scion of the Blaiddyd bloodline,[5] as Dimitri is slain in combat against the Imperial Army at Tailtean Plains.
Personality and character
While Rufus never appears in person, he is rumored to be a womanizer.[6]
