Rufus is a non-playable character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. He is the elder brother of Lambert and the Regent of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus.

Biography

During modern Fódlan, Rufus was the firstborn son of House Blaiddyd in Faerghus. Due to lacking a Crest, he was skipped over the line of succession and was granted the title of Grand Duke of Itha instead, thus giving his younger brother Lambert -who did have the Crest of Blaiddyd- the crown of the kingdom.

After the Tragedy of Duscur in Imperial year 1176 during which his younger brother was slaughtered and his consort Patricia went missing, Rufus assumed the role of the Kingdom's Regent as his nephew and Faergus's crown prince Dimitri was too young to assume the throne. His temporary rule was somewhat jeopardized however, as rumors abounded he might have been complicit with the tragedy in order to claim the throne for himself.

In 1181 of non-Crimson Flower routes, Rufus is murdered by Faerghus's Court mage Cornelia while framing up Dimitri for his death as means of subverting the Kingdom and giving its territory to the Adrestian Empire, which is seeking to unify Fódlan under the rule of Edelgard, the new Adrestian Emperor. In Crimson Flower proper, Rufus manages to avoid his fate as Cornelia is unable to pull her plan under the Church of Seiros's watch and ultimately remains as the last living scion of the Blaiddyd bloodline as Dimitri, the new king of Faerghus, is slain during combat in Tailtean Plains against the Imperial Army.

Rufus is a character mentioned in Three Houses, mostly during the Blue Lions route.

While Rufus never appears in person, it is mentioned he is somewhat infamous in the Kingdom for being a womanizer.
