Plot

Main articles: River of Regrets/Script (Eirika) and River of Regrets/Script (Ephraim)

Two years prior to the war, Lyon discusses his research into Grado's Sacred Stone with Eirika and Ephraim. Lyon is certain that he can do incredible good with the Stone's power, but Father MacGregor refuses him direct access to it; Eirika and Ephraim are uncertain if the Stones should be utilized, but trust in Lyon's good intentions. Thinking Lyon has worked himself too hard, Ephraim and Eirika decide to take Lyon into the city for a day.

In the present day, the group travels to Rausten, and Frelian troops travel ahead of them. The soldiers encounter Grado forces, and are soundly defeated; Syrene is the last of the Frelians, escorting civilians away from the battle. The group notices the battle and move to intervene, but Lyon teleports in front of them; Eirika is grateful to see him, but Ephraim is hesitant to trust him. In Eirika's route, Lyon is overcome by a wave of pain, instructing Eirika and company to flee him, before the Demon King Fomortiis begins speaking in Lyon's body; in Ephraim's route, Fomortiis ceases acting like Lyon when Ephraim does not believe him. Regardless of route, the twins conclude that it is Fomortiis possessing Lyon, and Fomortiis engages them in battle.

During the battle, Vanessa, Tana, and Innes can speak to Syrene. In each case, they instruct Syrene to pull back and not exhaust herself, and Syrene accepts their aid. With Vanessa, Syrene asks her to send a message to their commander before commenting on how much she has grown; with Tana, Syrene initially asks that she stay out of danger, but acquiesces to her insistence; with Innes, Syrene is greatly relieved to be rescued by him, and reports the status of the Frelian troops.

After the battle, Fomortiis flees in Lyon's body, but is pursued by the group; he teleports out of sight, but Innes states that he is being tracked by Frelian soldiers. Innes also informs the twins that a messenger has returned with Frelia's Sacred Twins, and he gives them to the twins to distribute as they see fit. Additionally, if Syrene and all of the civilians survived, the civilians thank Syrene and the twins for their help, and gift them with a Rescue staff.
