Rescue Mission/Script
The Lycian Army has arrived at the Missur Peninsula in order to rescue General Cecilia and Princess Guinivere from Bern's forces. Until now, Cecilia has been able to hold a single castle by herself. This changes when King Zephiel of Bern arrives and defeats her in combat. Cecilia is taken prisoner by General Narcian, and Guinivere is unable to convince her brother to cease his war.
Zephiel orders Guinivere's retainer, Melady, to escort Guinivere back to Bern. However, Guinivere's heartfelt plea to Melady persuades her, and the two escape the castle together, rejoining Roy's army. Roy is overjoyed to see Guinivere safe, and to hear the news that Cecilia survived her encounter with Zephiel.
In the meantime, Knight General Perceval of Etruria watches Bern's attack. Seeing Bern interfere in what should be a wholly Etrurian affair between the revolutionaries and the loyalists, upsets Perceval, as Bern had promised to stay out of internal affairs. Though it is possible for Roy to recruit him at this point, it is very unlikely. After some time passes, Perceval declares Bern's action an insult to Etruria, and leaves, heading back toward Aquileia.
After Zephiel leaves, thinking Cecilia defeated and his sister in save hands, Narcian takes charge of the castle. Flaer arrives, bearing the report that the Lycian Army has come, following his own failure to defeat them in Juteaux, despite letting a dragon loose on them. Narcian says he will return to Aquileia to prepare for the army. He leaves Flaer to weaken the Lycian Army, fully expecting Flaer to fail and die. With no other choice but to listen to his superior, Flaer accepts his fate and battles Roy's forces.
As Narcian predicted, Flaer is defeated, and the Lycian Army takes Missur. Roy reunites with Cecilia in the castle. Cecilia survived because her injuries were tended to by her fellow prisoner Sophia, a shaman from the village of Arcadia within the Nabata Desert. She tells Roy that Bern attacked her village and asks him to save it. Additionally, Sophia confesses that Bern likely attacked because Arcadia is home to dragons. Roy accepts her request without hesitation because Sophia saved Cecilia, though he is intrigued by Sophia's tales of dragons still living in Elibe.
Sophia promises to tell him all she knows, and the group heads for Arcadia.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
In this map, units with high mobility like Cavaliers or Paladins are particularly effective. Mages like Lugh, Lilina, and Clarine, as well as Nomads like Sue and Shin, and axe users such as Geese, are also good choices due to the types of enemies you'll encounter.
Although you might be tempted to divide your team into two groups to approach the castle, this tactic can be risky. A split team could be too weak to deal with the enemies on either flank. A safer strategy is to initially leave some units near the mountain to the north of your starting position. These units can eliminate the enemies near the northwestern Village. After securing the Village, regroup these units with the main force, which should be following the bottom path.
On the bottom path, use an archer to draw in enemy mages while staying out of the Ballista's range. Then, use a high-mobility unit equipped with a Javelin or Hand Axe to take down the Ballista. Create a frontline of your strongest units, backed up by long-range attackers. If the enemy mages prove challenging, consider using a Barrier Staff. Cavaliers and especially Paladins can also be problematic, but equipping a Horseslayer with a Knight or General can deal with them effectively.
Keep your archers prepared for incoming Wyvern Riders, and consider bringing at least two healers, although splitting them between groups isn't recommended. Melady, who joins you on turn 2, is also a useful addition. Make sure to position Roy strategically, as Melady will head directly towards him upon joining.
If you're looking to recruit Perceval, located at the upper-right corner of the map, be warned that he leaves on turn 8. While difficult, you can recruit him in this chapter by using a trained Thea or Shanna, alongside either Larum or Elffin. Position these units at the top of your group before the chapter starts, and use their combined abilities to reach Perceval while avoiding enemies. You'll get another chance to recruit him in Chapter 15, where it's easier to approach him.
Before you proceed to the next chapters, stock up on Torch and Restore staves; they will come in handy.
The boss you need to focus on defeating isn't Zephiel or Narcian, but Flaer. For an easier victory, use a Nomad equipped with a Steel Bow or Killer Bow. Using axes against Flaer is riskier. Archers are a safer bet, as they can be healed, and Flaer won't be able to retaliate against your healers.
Trivia
- During the cutscene on Turn 1, Zephiel's theme ignores the options setting for music, which is an oversight.
