====Determining the location of a rescued unit====
{{sectstub}}<!--everything other than GBA and FE3/12-->
When Rescue is used on a unit, the game attempts to bring the rescued unit to the tile closest to the rescuer; how this is determined varies on the game. If there are multiple tiles equidistant from the caster, the game assigns a priority to the tiles (up > left > right > down in the GBA games; down > right > left > up in {{title|Mystery of the Emblem}} and {{title|New Mystery of the Emblem}}). Units are not allowed to be rescued on terrain that is occupied or untraversable.
If all tiles adjacent to the caster are not eligible for a unit to be rescued on, the game runs the priority algorithm again. For example, in {{title|The Sacred Stones}}, the tile priority if all tiles adjacent to the caster are blocked, will be UU, UL, UR, LL, RR, LD, RD, DD. Note that after UR, the next sequence is technically UD, but this is ignored because going up and then down returns to the same tile as the caster; similarly, LU is ignored because it is functionally the same as UL; going left then up is the same as going up and then left.
Some games (like {{title|New Mystery of the Emblem}}) attempt to minimize the movement cost for the rescued unit to the rescuer.

The Rescue (Japanese: レスキュー Rescue) is a staff in the Fire Emblem series, first appearing in Mystery of the Emblem and appearing in all but one game since (the exception being Shadow Dragon); in Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Three Houses, which lack staves, Rescue appears as a white magic spell. Its purpose is to warp distant allies next to the user; this essentially makes Rescue an opposite to the Warp.

Determining the location of a rescued unit
This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.
When Rescue is used on a unit, the game attempts to bring the rescued unit to the tile closest to the rescuer; how this is determined varies on the game. If there are multiple tiles equidistant from the caster, the game assigns a priority to the tiles (up > left > right > down in the GBA games; down > right > left > up in Mystery of the Emblem and New Mystery of the Emblem). Units are not allowed to be rescued on terrain that is occupied or untraversable.
If all tiles adjacent to the caster are not eligible for a unit to be rescued on, the game runs the priority algorithm again. For example, in The Sacred Stones, the tile priority if all tiles adjacent to the caster are blocked, will be UU, UL, UR, LL, RR, LD, RD, DD. Note that after UR, the next sequence is technically UD, but this is ignored because going up and then down returns to the same tile as the caster; similarly, LU is ignored because it is functionally the same as UL; going left then up is the same as going up and then left.
Some games (like New Mystery of the Emblem) attempt to minimize the movement cost for the rescued unit to the rescuer.
