Regalia (Japanese: 神器 divine weapon) is an umbrella term used by the FES to refer to the numerous sacred and legendary weapons present in its various stories. Regalia weapons typically possess immense power compared to normal weapons, are plot-critical and become available to the player late in the course of a game's events. Such weapons are also often referred to as legendary weapons or divine weapons, and some specific groups of regalia have their own unique collective name.

Legendary items (Japanese: 神器 divine weapon) are frequent elements of stories in the FES. These items typically possess immense power compared to normal items, are plot-critical, and become available to the player late in the course of a game's events. Such weapons are also often referred to as regalia or divine weapons, and some specific groups have their own unique collective name.

In each game, one or two regalia are frequently personal weapons usable only by the game's protagonists or, on rare occasions, antagonists. All the rest are usable by any other unit, but have the highest weapon level or weapon level requirement in the game, requiring that any would-be wielders have maximum proficiency in that weapon type before they can use the regalia. Although the majority are affected by durability as with all weapons, all weapons which will not break are regalia.

With the exception of the Archanea games, regalia near-universally provide a temporary bonus to their wielder's while they are equipped. Though they are not the only weapons to provide stat bonuses, their bonuses are typically far more substantial than those granted by other weapons. Most games' regalia offer a stat bonus of 5 points in a single stat, occasionally with more powerful regalia (such as the Binding Blade) boosting two stats by +5 each. The Tellius duology's weapons offer a lower bonus, at +3, while the Jugdral games' twelve Crusader regalia offer large stat boosts totalling, for the most part, +30 points spread across two or three different stats.
Legendary weapons are typically important to the story or backstory of a game and are often associated with a hero or line of heroes. They are generally regarded as treasures by the contemporary nations that claim them, usually descendants of the heroes who originally used them.

From FE11 onward, all regalia weapons share a set of behaviours not found in other weapons. Regalia cannot be forged under any circumstances, and when taken to a shop, they will either be unable to be sold (the usual approach in prior titles) or can be sold only for 0 gold, so the player receives no profit from disposing of regalia in this way.
Most protagonists and many significant antagonists have a legendary weapon as a personal weapon. Most legendary weapons require a very high weapon level to use. Some legendary weapons, such as the Heroes' Relics, have relatively low durability; others, such as Falchion, are unbreakable. Legendary weapons often provide stat boosts to their wielders—in some games, all legendary weapons provide a stat boost. Legendary weapons cannot be forged, and either cannot be sold or are sold for 0 gold.

In many games, most regalia identify themselves with a cosmetic effect: at the beginning of battle scenes, when a unit is attacking with a regalia, their attack will be preceded by a bright, white horizontal flash and a chiming noise. This effect is absent in Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn and Awakening, and in games in which it is used, it is reserved primarily for regalia integral to the game's lore (for instance, in Shadow Dragon, Falchion will give off the flash while Excalibur will not).
In the SFC, GBA, and DS games, many legendary weapons have a unique cosmetic effect: when a unit is using a legendary weapon in battle, their attack is preceded by a bright, white flash and a chime. This is reserved primarily for the most significant weapons; for instance, in Shadow Dragon, Falchion will give off the flash while Excalibur will not.

The Archanea series of games—FE1, Mystery of the Emblem, FEBS, Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem and Awakening—featured both the first set of regalia weapons in the series and, as of Shadow Dragon, the first time such weapons were referred to in English as "regalia". In the course of Shadow Dragon and its various remakes, Parthia and Mercurius are gifted to Marth's army throughout the game's events, while Gradivus is obtained by defeating Camus. In Mystery of the Emblem and its remake, the forces of the Empire of Archanea use the Three Regalia against Marth's army, wielded by two of Hardin's most powerful lieutenants as well as Hardin himself, and Marth's army must obtain them by vanquishing or recruiting these people.

Awakening reuses regalia from both Archanea and other eras in the series, introducing only a small number in and of itself. Additionally, the highest weapon level in the game (A) is no longer exclusively the domain of regalia, as the four brave weapons are now also A-rank. All regalia in Awakening share in common a sale price of 0 gold and an inability to be forged.

Shadows of Valentia also features the Three Regalia of Archanea; however, they are obtained by evolving blessed weapons at a forge, and thus, the player can obtain multiple copies of them. They may also be sold, unlike most regalia. Gaiden features Gradivus as a unique weapon, but it is not explained to be regalia. Shadows of Valentia is also the only game in the series where regalia can be forged.

Aside from these two, multiple other regalia weapons exist in Tellius, with mostly unclear origins; some of them are merely stated to be the work of a "master craftsman". These weapons are often wielded against Ike and Micaiah during their adventures, and they collect them both from their enemies and other sources as they proceed.

In Radiant Dawn, deviating from the norm, the player is actually allowed to sell regalia, because on the first playthrough Balberith cannot be used in combat and even on repeat playthroughs, Ilyana is the only possible user of Rexbolt. Ragnell, Amiti, Cymbeline, the Daein gifts, and Alondite are exceptions, as they are exclusive weapons and not conventional regalia (SS Rank weapons). Path of Radiance prevents the sale of any regalia.

In Fódlan, there are two types of legendary weapon, all of which are linked to Crests.

The first type is the Heroes' Relics. They have special abilities which are usually exclusive to those who bear the corresponding Crests. According to the game's story, people who use them without a Crest will turn into Demonic Beasts (described by Rhea as the goddess's punishment). In actual gameplay, this is reflected by units with no Crests taking ten damage after using it. Heroes' Relics that are weapons have a required skill level of E. The Heroes' Relics were wielded by Nemesis, the 10 Elites, and Maurice in the game's backstory. The Heroes' Relics have golden icons.

In Zenith
In Elyos
In the World of Zenith, Breidablik is the divine weapon weapon wielded by the player and is used to summon Heroes.
In Elyos are two sets of weapons usable only by Divine Dragons and Fell Dragons respectively. These are personal weapons for certain characters of draconic origin.

All of the main protagonists and antagonists have their own unique personal weapon only available to them at five-star rarity, and some special Heroes do as well; not all personal weapons are regalia, however. The following personal weapons are to be considered as regalia for the purpose of this wiki, although their status as regalia is questionable, as they are not an element of the story, nor do they have an exclusive weapon level (rarity exclusivity being considered an analogue to weapon level). While they do share a rarity number with regalia, 5star weapons are not exclusively regalia, and most are generic weapons.
There are also other weapons of unknown origin, mainly being described as of great power. Most of these can only be wielded by certain classes due to their extremely high weapon rank requirements, though for some, proficiency can expand the pool of classes able to use them. Four of them can be obtained by donating 90,000 gold to each of the four nations, while the remaining twelve are located in Chapters 21 through 25. The DLC adds two more S-ranked weapons, Fell Ruinstone and Piercing Blast, which cannot be acquired in the main game unless the Fell Xenologue is completed.

Marth brandishing Falchion, the most prominent legendary weapon in the Fire Emblem series.

Legendary items (Japanese: 神器 divine weapon) are frequent elements of stories in the Fire Emblem series. These items typically possess immense power compared to normal items, are plot-critical, and become available to the player late in the course of a game's events. Such weapons are also often referred to as regalia or divine weapons, and some specific groups have their own unique collective name.

Common traits

A traditional white flash across the screen announces Caeda's impending attack with the regalia Gradivus.

Legendary weapons are typically important to the story or backstory of a game and are often associated with a hero or line of heroes. They are generally regarded as treasures by the contemporary nations that claim them, usually descendants of the heroes who originally used them.

List of legendary weapons

In Archanea and Ylisse

The Archanea series of games feature a set of weapons called the Three Regalia (Japanese: 三種の武器 Three Weapons), the potent weapons stolen and used by the ancient king Adrah to forge the Holy Kingdom of Archanea. These weapons are:

FEMN Gradivus.png FEMN Mercurius.png FEMN Parthia.png
Gradivus
The "lance that pierces stone"
Mercurius
The "spectral sword"
Parthia
The "flame bow"

In the course of Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and its various remakes, Parthia and Mercurius are gifted to Marth's army throughout the game's events, while Gradivus is obtained by defeating Camus. In Mystery of the Emblem Book II and its remake, the forces of the Holy Empire of Archanea use the Three Regalia against Marth's army, wielded by two of Hardin's most powerful lieutenants as well as Hardin himself, and Marth's army obtain them by vanquishing or recruiting these people.

The other primary, and perhaps more important, group of Archanean items is the pair of items left behind for humanity by Naga. Containing Naga's own power, these items are intended for humanity to use to defend itself from dragons.

Several other significant weapons exist in Archanea which are not part of these groups.

Awakening features legendary weapons from Archanea and other settings in the series, introducing only a small number in and of itself. All legendary items in Awakening share in common a sale price of 0 gold and an inability to be forged.

In Valentia

Fire Emblem Gaiden features two legendary swords.

Royal Sword
A sword given to the Kingdom of Zofia by the neighboring Rigel as a symbol of friendship.
Falchion
A sword given to Rudolf by the fell god Duma to seal the earth goddess Mila.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia includes both the above swords, as well as introducing the following:

FESoV Beloved Zofia concept.png FESoV Kriemhild concept.png
Beloved Zofia
A prized sword owned by the royal family of Zofia.
Kriemhild
A lance that came at a price. Exclusively wielded by Berkut when empowered by Duma.

Gaiden features Gradivus as a unique weapon, but it is not explained to be significant. Shadows of Valentia features all of the Three Regalia of Archanea; they are obtained by evolving blessed weapons at a forge, and thus the player can obtain multiple copies of them. They may be sold and forged, unlike most legendary weapons.

In Jugdral

Main article: Holy Blood § Jugdral

Jugdral's primary legendary weapons are the thirteen weapons wielded by the Twelve Crusaders and their enemy, Loptous. All of these weapons were created when dragons underwent blood rites with humans, and at least as of the era of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776 are usable only by those who bear the weapon's matching holy bloodline.

In Elibe

Main article: Legendary Weapons

The eight legendary weapons (Japanese: 神将器 Divine Generals' Weapons) of Elibe were forged by humanity during the Scouring, in a bid to combat the overwhelming power of dragons. Their power was so immense that it twisted the laws of nature, causing the devastating Ending Winter. Accompanying them are two further weapons of equal or greater power which are not considered to be a formal part of the group of legendary weapons.

Outside these legendary weapons, several other significant weapons exist in Elibe. The mythology and traditions of Sacae prominently features a pair of spirit-infused blades, both of which were used by Lyn of the Lorca tribe to combat Lundgren and Nergal.

In The Blazing Blade, another set of seven weapons appears in the Final Chapter, wielded by Nergal's morphs against Eliwood, Lyn and Hector. Unlike the legendary weapons they provide their wielders with no stat boosts, but nonetheless are immensely powerful. Nergal himself also wields a separate dark tome of unknown origin. With the exception of Excalibur, none of these would reappear after this game. These weapons were:

In Magvel

Main article: Sacred Twins

Magvel's set of legendary is known as the Sacred Twins (Japanese: 双聖器 Sacred Twins). These ten weapons were bestowed upon humanity in antiquity along with the Sacred Stones, and were used by Magvel's Five Heroes to defeat Fomortiis, the Demon King, and his monster hordes. Each of the heroes wielded two of these weapons, and each pair of weapons is referred to as a set of twins. With the exception of Gleipnir, all ten weapons are highly effective against monsters.

In Tellius

Altina wielding Ragnell and Alondite.

The primary set of legendary weapon in the mythology of Tellius is a pair of sacred swords belonging to the Begnion Empire. These two swords, blessed by the goddess Ashera, were used in antiquity by the heroine Altina to combat and imprison the "dark god".

Ragnell

Alondite

Aside from these two, multiple other weapons exist in Tellius, with mostly unclear origins; some of them are merely stated to be the work of a "master craftsman". These weapons are often wielded against Ike and Micaiah during their adventures, and they collect them both from their enemies and other sources as they proceed.

The Kingdom of Daein has a group of three weapons of its own as national treasures, which were granted to Micaiah's closest allies by King Pelleas for use in the war against the Laguz Alliance. All three of these weapons are exclusive to international versions of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and so do not exist in the Japanese release.

In Radiant Dawn, deviating from the norm, the player is actually allowed to sell legendary weapons, because on the first playthrough Balberith cannot be used in combat and even on repeat playthroughs, Ilyana is the only possible user of Rexbolt. Ragnell, Amiti, Cymbeline, the Daein gifts, and Alondite are exceptions, as they are exclusive weapons and not conventional legendary weapons (SS-level weapons). Path of Radiance prevents the sale of any such weapons.

In Hoshido and Nohr

In Hoshido and Nohr, there are five weapons known as the divine weapons. They are personal weapons of Corrin and the male royals of the two countries. Three weapons (the Yato, Brynhildr, and Siegfried in Conquest; the Yato, the Fujin Yumi, and Raijinto in Birthright) together unlock the Seal of Flames, while all five unlock the Fire Emblem.

In Fódlan

Main article: Heroes' Relics
