Rankings

From Fire Emblem Wiki, your source on Fire Emblem information. By fans, for fans.
Revision as of 14:08, 9 January 2020 by Ymcan64 (talk | contribs) (Translation update: Areone -> Arion)

Rankings in the Fire Emblem video game franchise come in two forms, but in general, they are a measure of how well the player and their units have performed. They were introduced in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and have appeared in all games since, but how the rankings are handled has changed throughout the series.

As a measure of the player

Upon completion of Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, The Binding Blade and The Blazing Blade, as well as after clearing either the Tower of Valni or Lagdou Ruins in The Sacred Stones, the game will rank the player based on how they did throughout the game/dungeon. The former four use letter ranks, while the dungeon results are more basic as they simply display the current top records.

Experience 1,000 or more 800 – 999 600 – 799 400 – 599 399 or less level-ups
Survival 0 1 2 3 4 or more playable units died

  • Tactical's rank drops by 1 for each destroyed player-controlled castle.
  • Playable characters who were not recruited count as being dead (except in Johan and Johalva’s case, where it does not apply as long as you recruited one of them). Characters deaths can be reversed by using the Valkyrie staff, if you recruited them in the first place.
  • Battle Losses are recorded even when the game is reset and the only possible way to reverse them is to restart the whole chapter. Battle losses in the Arena don’t affect this rank. Note that a glitch occurs in the Final Chapter, where defeating Julius with a character that can re-move after attacking causes that character’s battle losses to increase greatly.

Extras

If an Overall Rank of A is achieved, an extra scene can be viewed in the Epilogue, which shows the Crusaders’ pedestal at Darna. Additionally, two extra map battle scenes are unlocked in the opening demo, for each Overall Rank of E to A.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.

Unlike other games in the franchise, only two criteria affect rankings in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776: The total number of turns taken to complete the game and the survival of playable characters. Other recurring criteria such as the total amount of Gold or the total number of defeated enemies isn't taken into the overall rank calculations. Additionally, playing in Elite Mode doesn't have any direct effect on rankings either.

Notes: For Exp and Power, add 1 to all the listed values to get the actual minimums (eg. 500 becomes 501). Furthermore, multiply all the Exp values by 100 (eg. 500 becomes 50,100).

  • Tactics: Turns taken to complete chapters. Around 630 Turns or less is required for a A Rank.
  • Combat:– Ratio of battles winned (ended with an enemy KO). An average of 40% of all battles resulting in wins is required to get a A Rank.
  • Survival:– Amount of characters alive (Only recruited playable characters). No characters should die in order to get a A Rank.
  • Experience:– Amount of experience gained. A total of 50,100 Exp or more is required to obtain a A Rank.
  • Funds:– Total of Physical gold + (Worth / 2) of all items in the possession of the player. Items that can’t be sold (eg. the Divine Weapons) count as 0G. The overall total must add up to 84,000G or more in order to get a A Rank.
  • Power:– Total Level of all recruited characters. For promoted character Levels, add 20. Dancer, Bard and Manakete count as non-promoted classes. A total of 1001 or more Levels is required to get a A Rank.
  • Overall:– All six above categories combined. If an A Rank is obtained in all six categories, the player will get a S Rank on Normal mode or a Ss Rank on Hard mode.

Overall

The Overall Rank depends on the six individual Ranks. Each Rank contributes a different amount to the Overall Rank (for instance, Tactics is worth over double the other Ranks). Also, if playing in Hard Mode, the Overall Rank of S is replaced by Ss.

The 0’s for Hector's exclusive chapters are due to a programming error.

  • Tactics:– Turns taken to complete chapters. If the player wait out during a Defend chapter, the game will count an extra turn at the end of the chapter due to the game calculating the turn limit of those chapters at the start of the player phase.
  • Survival:– Amount of characters alive. Unrecruited playable characters doesn't affect the rankings. No characters Should die in order to get 5 stars.
  • Funds:– The worth of all items + physical gold (appears as Assets in Battle History).

Estimated Assets for 5 stars:
Eliwood Normal mode: 922,000G
Hector Normal mode: 872,000G
Hector Hard mode: 847,000G

  • Exp:– Amount of experience gained.
  • Combat:– Ratio of wins to battles. An average of 40% of all battles being wins is required for obtaining 5 stars.
  • Overall:– All five above categories combined. If all other ranks have 5 stars, a S Rank will be rewarded to the player.

Overall

Much like Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, the Overall Rank depends on the five separate Ranks. The Overall Rank can be calculated by checking how many stars you currently have in each Rank, either by using the tables above or from the Fortune-Tactician window. Each Rank contributes a different amount to the Overall Rank (for instance, Tactics is worth over double the other Ranks). When awarding Tactician points, the Overall Rank is calculated separately for the individual chapter.

Fire Emblem Warriors

The spinoff game Fire Emblem Warriors also features a similar rankings screen at the end of each mission, giving a rank from B to S for each criteria (Time taken, Total of ennemies KO'd and Total of damages received) and a overall rank from B to S with S-rank being achevied by earning an S-rank for each criteria. Furthermore, at the end of the main story and at the end of each History mode maps, a screen featuring the highest ranks achevied for each missions currently completed will scroll down similarly to the ones featured in the 3DS games of the series.

As a measure of the units

Starting with Thracia 776 (but only upon game completion, in the endings), units are measured as well based on how many fights they got in, as well as how many of those ended in victories or defeats (in Thracia only, defeats include captures as well as deaths). In Path of Radiance, these replaced the previous form of rankings as the main rankings: units are totalled at the end of the game based on how well they did.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

The rankings happen after the main credits. First, all units who were recruited and died are listed; then, all units are listed by how many battles they got in and won, in the event of any ties deferring to the unit who joined later. The top 5 are recognized separately from the rest of the list.
