— Pirn to Salem in Chapter 12x: Dandelion

Pirn (Japanese: パーン Pirn) is a playable thief fighter in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Role

Pirn first appears in chapter 12 where he's talking too Salem and tries to advise him against standing as sentry for the Dandelion Gang's hideout. He eventually decides to let Salem do as he wishes before heading back into the hideout.

He appears again in chapter 12x where he is the boss of said chapter, but can be recruited by Lara, Lifis or Salem who convince him to join Leif's cause in liberating Thracia.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Pirn joins around the middle of the game with somewhat low bases for a promoted unit, however he also has very high growth rates, capable of being boosted even further by the use of scrolls, to make up for this somewhat. Pirn also has 5 action starts giving him a 25% chance of moving again every turn, while said chance is unreliable it's extremely useful on Lifis as it allows him to steal enemies weapons or open doors and chests sooner. He is your third unit capable of stealing alongside Lara and Lifis and as such is a great counter to most enemy mages as he can still most tomes and staves. Pirn has somewhat low constitution, being unable to setal warp staves at base and as such benefits freately from receiving a build ring to be able to expand his thief utility. Though his relative frailty and somewhat low strength might make Pirn seem unfit for combat, because of the somewhat low quality of most enemies in Thracia 776, along with his very high FCC of 5 and B rank in swords he can make for a decent combat unit. Pirn also has access to Sol and Vantage at base which help his overall frailty, but are rather unrelibale skills. He also joins with the powerful King Sword which makes him an incredebly strong combat unit, however there are better users of it as Pirn is likely going to be off opening chests or stealing instead of fighting unlike someone like Leif and desn't benefit from it's Charm too much. Overall, because of the combination of thief utility, decent combat and the relative rarity of resources in Thracia, Pirn is an invaluble unit being able to serve well in multiple roles and being a great asset in indoor maps only overshadowed by staff users

Personality and character

Pirn is rather unusuall, being portrayed as morally ambiguous. On on hand he's shown to be a fair and charismatic leader of the Dandelion Gang which, according to August, steals from greedy nobles not for personal benefit, but to obtain loot to distribute to poor villagers. Pirn has also earned a reputation of being a "good thief" by the villagers residing in Dakia Forest. Pirn has also saved Salem from the Loptyrian Cult without expecting anything in return and releases Lara from her troupe upon relaising her young age and sends her to Munster. On the other hand Pirn is shown to kepp slaves in the form of female dancers around his manor. Adding more to the moral ambiguity of Perne is his strange relationship with Lifis. He's known Lifis from a young age and used to be one of his many childhood bullies, and was often the instigator of such conflicts. Pirn has also kidnapped Tini and forced her to use her Thief staff by dangling various insects in front of her face, causing her to obey out of her fear of bugs.
