Phantom Ship
|
|
|
|
Phantom Ship (Japanese: 幽霊船 Phantom Ship) is the eleventh chapter of Ephraim's route in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones.
Plot
- Main article: Phantom Ship/Script
When Selena returns to Grado Keep, Emperor Vigarde is disappointed that she failed to execute Duessel. Selena begs for a second chance, and Lyon gives her a mission to obtain a dragonstone located in Za'albul Marsh. Selena gratefully accepts; she choses to renew her oath of service to Vigarde, and leaves for Za'albul Marsh.
On a ship to Grado, Myrrh observes the sea for the first time; Ephraim is also sailing for the first time, but feels he must remain calm and attentive as a leader. Ephraim and Myrrh's conversation is interrupted when Seth notices an unknown ship approaching them with an inhuman crew. On the other ship, Riev instructs the monsters to wreak havoc on the ocean.
During the battle, the monsters' ship comes alongside Ephraim's as they board. Later, Ephraim spots another ship in the distance, but cannot identify its crew—on the other ship, L'Arachel and Dozla prepare to fight the monsters terrorizing the ocean.
Ephraim can talk to L'Arachel during the battle; Ephraim does not recognize her or tales of her exploits, buts asks for her assistance fighting the monsters, which she is glad to provide. L'Arachel can then talk to Dozla, informing him that they will now be working with Ephraim.
Once the monsters are routed, L'Arachel introduces herself to Ephraim; Ephraim introduces himself as the prince of Renais, and L'Arachel clarifies that she is the princess of Rausten. Ephraim informs L'Arachel of his mission to Grado, and L'Arachel insists on accompanying him in spite of the dangers; if Dozla is alive, L'Arachel informs him of their new destination, and Dozla unquestioningly accompanies her.

Trivia
- This chapter, alongside Creeping Darkness, was possibly one of the last chapters added to the game in development, being the only two chapters completely absent from the prototype. This may also be the reason it does not have a corresponding world map location, instead occurring between locations, as the world map was already laid out in essentially its final form even in the very early prototype.
- This fact is also supported by the fact that Creeping Darkness and Phantom Ship are the only two chapters with their titles listed out of order, being at the end of the list, internally.
