Beginning log
They follow the Black Fang due south. Although the trail vanishes, Lyn uses her tracking skills, and the pursuit continues. The path leads up into Bern's impassable mountains. The peaks know no seasons, and the snow covers all in a bright blanket. In this land of blinding reflections, an ancient castle appears.

This chapter features a snowstorm. The snowstorm is active at the start of the chapter; it stops every third turn and resumes every fourth turn, ending on turn 31 when the snow stops permanently. On Normal Mode, Nils will give a warning that the weather will change one turn before it does for the first two changes.

This is one of the few chapters in The Blazing Blade that feature weather. While it snows, your units will suffer major movement penalties unless they are indoors. As such, it is difficult to traverse the large map in a low number of turns, and all the more difficult if one wishes to recruit Karel, whose appearance requires four doors to be opened by the end of turn 9. Keep in mind that Nils will note the starting and stopping of the snow, and traveling indoors is inevitable given the chapter's mission to rout the enemy, so while summoning Karel may not be optimal, by no means is it impossible.
The chapter itself is an arduous one, requiring you to open multiple doors and defeat the enemies in each room. Each room, however, has enemy units that share similar classes, so knowing what to expect beforehand can help in choosing which units to deploy.
Do take caution against Jerme, however, as he is capable of moving. It is recommended to attack him from a distance, as he cannot inflict critical hits at 2 range due to the nature of the Light Brand.
Trivia
Both versions of Pale Flower of Darkness combined.
- Harken wields the only obtainable Brave Sword in the entire game.
- Karel wields one of two obtainable Wo Daos in the entire game, the other belonging to his sister Karla.
- The Wo Dao can only be wielded by Myrmidons, Swordmasters, and Blade Lords, meaning that only four units in the entire game can wield one: Guy, Karel, Karla, and Lyn.
- Jerme wields one of two obtainable Light Brands in the entire game, the other found in chapter 22E/23H.
- The maps for both versions of thus chapter fit together near-seamlessly.
- The second version of Nino from Fire Emblem Heroes has the title of "Pale Flower", which is named after this chapter. In Japanese, her title is the full "Pale Flower of Darkness", but this could not fit in English.
