The Onmyoji (Japanese: 陰陽師 Onmyouji) is an advanced magical class that debuted in Fire Emblem Fates. They are a Hoshido-aligned class and the Fates counterpart for the Sage class of most other games in the series. Like Sages, Onmyoji are an offensive magical class with high speed and magic, specializing in the use of offensive scrolls and also having the ability to support their allies with rods. Diviners, Monks, and Shrine Maidens are all capable of changing class to become Onmyoji.

Onmyoji

An onmyōji (literally, "master of yin and yang") is a practitioner of Onmyōdō (literally, "the way of yin and yang"), a Japanese school of occult cosmology which arose in the 7th century. Onmyōdō was descended from several Chinese philosophies which arrived in Japan in the 5th and 6th centures, among them the concept of yin and yang, and onmyōji eventually became court officials under the Ministry of the Center who used their Onmyōdō practice for divination, protection of the Japanese capital from evil spirits, and even for determining where to move the capital. Onmyōji eventually lost their state patronage and became prohibited occultist figures.
