“ | We were born into the knighthood and are prepared to die fighting! | ” | — Noish |
---|
Noish (Japanese: ノイッシュ Noish) was a knight in the service of House Chalphy in Grannvale, and the friend and rival of fellow Chalphy knight Alec. When the Grannvale army went to war with Isaach, Noish was one of its few knights left behind, remaining in Chalphy with Sigurd.
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Role
Noish was present in Chalphy when they received word of the Verdane attack on Jungby Castle. When Sigurd tried to instruct his soldiers to remain at Chalphy while he examined the situation, Noish insisted on accompanying Sigurd into battle as his duty as a knight. Noish subsequently accompanied Sigurd's army on the campaigns in Verdane and Agustria, in exile in Silesse, and presumably in being executed by the mages of Velthomer in the Battle of Belhalla.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
As his stats show, Noish is a more Strength/Defense-focused cavalier than his comrade Alec. Like all mounted units in Genealogy, Noish comes with a superior version of the Canto skill that allows him to finish moving after attacking. However, Noish notably lacks the all-important Pursuit/Follow-up skill. Instead, Noish has Accost, which he will have a hard time activating due to his low speed. As a result, Noish can seem underwhelming when compared to a mounted sword-wielder like Beowolf, who comes with similar strength but also has Pursuit. Still, given the abundance of free experience from the Arena, his mounted movement, and the fact that there is no downside to deploying every single unit in Genealogy, Noish can still keep up and help out the rest of Sigurd's army when physical durability or a single hit of reliable damage is needed.
As a father, Noish is really only useful to children that do not need Pursuit but could benefit from Accost and Critical. He is a fine option for Ayra as he can pass down a good bit of Strength, Adept, and B-rank swords to Ulster. With Erin, Fee and Ced both benefit from Critical and Accost (giving both of them all three multi-attack skills), and Fee benefits from Noish's high Strength. Ced's magic growth will suffer but as a pre-promoted unit Ced can usually survive on his base Magic alone.
Overall, Noish is a passable unit in the first generation who can fill in as a substitute father in certain scenarios.
Personality and character
In contrast to Alec's wilder ways, Noish was calm and thoughtful, taking the time to consider a situation and any requirements which may require covering in the course of a battle.[1] He took his oaths as a knight seriously, insisting on fighting alongside and protecting Sigurd instead of waiting at Chalphy.[2]

- In Chapter 5, if they are lovers, Lachesis or Ferry can talk to Noish after Phinora Castle has been seized. This conversation gives no reward.
