Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Noah is the last of all four unpromoted cavaliers to join in The Binding Blade, joining in chapter 7, appearing a few turns after his buddy Treck and leader Zealots do.

Right off the bat, Noah being a cavalier already counts as a point in his favor. Cavaliers are some of the best units in the game, boasting ok combat abilities at worst and being able to contribute to rescue-drop strategies, as well as being able to Canto.

That said, other than being a member of one of the best classes, Noah isn't that much of something to talk about. Noah starts off with average, well-rounded stats across the board, with a nice and decent 9 speed base. Although it doesn't double much, especially in hard mode, it does help him not get doubled. It's also worth noting that Noah has an extra point of constitution more than his fellow cavaliers, having 10 instead of 9, allowing him to maintain his speed while using steel swords. He also starts out with pretty good weapon ranks: D rank in Lances, allowing him to use Steel lances and javelins, and C rank in swords, giving him immedaite access to killing edges and many other special swords.

Noah's strength, however, though it starts off at 8, isn't going to grow all that much. So is his speed, or any of his meaningful stats, for the matter. Noah acts, according to his growths, as the "average" cavalier, excelling in neither stats. It's true that growths do not determine a unit's reliability, but The Binding Blade is a game where enemies scale fast, and you are expected to have a certain set of stats by a certain point, something in which good growths definitely help. This is the reason why Marcus and Zealots, even though they're good units, still fall off hard towards the midgame. Noah just fails to deliver on that front, although his stats may still end up serviceable if not ideal. And then, when you get down to it, you just forget that he is, first and foremost, a cavalier, so he can even contribute to things that have nothing to do with fighting, although Noah's higher con compared to other cavaliers works against him here, due to the way the GBA Fire Emblem games handle mounted units being able to rescue.

All in all, Noah is a unit who can contribute to the fight one way or another, though he may not be as good at fighting as his comrades. He is a good unit to deploy when you have an extra slot, and seeing as promotion bonuses are crazy in The Binding Blade, it would definitely not be a bad idea to promote him, provided his promotion doesn't get in the way of anyone else's.

Endings

Noah, Vagrant Knight
Short: Set out to travel to test his strength.

Long: Wanting to test his ability, Noah left Zelots’ group and traveled the world as a lone mercenary knight. Although several nations offered him positions in their militaries, he turned them all down. Many people have been inspired by his strength to live life by just being himself...
